Service was terrible but food was great. When we arrived, we told the manager that we were pressed for time and in return he made us wait twenty minutes so that they could just push tables together to accommodate our size, and then said that our time constraint "wasn't his problem" and he that he couldn't be bothered about it. In the end, his attitude improved because he ended up asking us to write a review for him on TripAdvisor. The rest of the staff was comparatively better. The food was great and the tartare sauce was amazing. If I go back, it will be for the food, not for the service.

So the servers here really don't know how to speak English... explaining how a drink came with a shot of gin was incredibly difficult. The waitress couldn't really understand. A friend told me to come here for the fish and chips! Of course, I had it and it was pretty good! The chips were a little bland but the it was decent. Ordering was such a pain though. The waitress was horribly confused at moments. Though, I discovered after leaving that she forgot to charge me for one of my drinks... so thank you Harry Ramsden! Decent fish and chips!

This is the go to place for fish and chips if you visit Brighton. The choice of haddock or cod. I choose cod it was silky and soft with a wonderful brown light batter. Regular portion is one large piece of fish. Large portion you get two pieces. The chips are large stick cut crispy and gold brown. Choice of take away or dine in.

It's been a long time since I've been to Harry Ramsdens so I was looking forward to going as I used to love their chips. I don't eat fish so I was interested to see what else they have on the menu. I was surprised by the variety. They have burgers, sausages, vegetarian lasagne, even salads. One of the group I was with is vegan. She asked the waitress if they had anything on the menu which is vegan and the waitress said 'chips'. Then she said 'and the vegetarian lasagne'. My friend pointed out that it has egg, milk, butter and cheese in it and the waitress just shrugged. I had a burger. I was impressed with it. Nice juicy burger which came medium-rare which I liked a lot. I didn't like the chips, which I was really disappointed about. I love chip shop chips and Harry Ramsdens claims to be famous for its fish and chips but they weren't slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I've had a lot better chips for much better value. I did hope for better. One star lost for the chips and the other for the customer service but thumbs up for the burger.

Basic fish and chips, great value, appears to be a café, but much more. Service was awesome. Ambience none, but view of the water.

Huge let down. Batter is over greasy and cod probably from frozen filets... I would avoid if you are seeking a proper fish and chips meal!

I am currently sitting in the restaurant eating Fish and Chips as a I write this. The fish is so crispy but so fresh on the inside and the french fries are perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot to just grab some quick food. We were the only Americans in the restaurant, the rest of the guests seemed to be locals so that must be a good sign. Waitstaff was incredibly nice and the food came out very fast. Would come again!

You can walk in off the street at 3 in the morning, order mussels in a garlic and cream sauce, and finish that bottle of Pinot as the sun comes up: a unforgettable experience for so many reasons. The chief reason to go to Buddies is the fabled Buddies all-nighter: grab some friends, head to Buddies at a reasonable hour, and don't leave until the morning traffic has subsided. This is bloody marvellous, for easedropping potential if nothing else: the people who frequent are an eclectic and wonderful bunch. Last time I did this, a man punched a woman over a dog, some drunk students threw up on each other, and a man proposed only to be unsurprisingly turned down. What do you expect? It's on the seafront, it's open all night: who are they gonna attract? Drunk people and insomniacs, and neither really wants to be there. The menu is huge: most of it is awful. Stick to chips and well-cooked to avoid a premature end to your all-nighter. And if you've been clubbing, and want to stay up, pop in here to end the night with a more sanitary alternative to the kebab dripping down your shirt on the long, meandering walk home.

And in our…read morecase this was the second choice as the first restaurant we wanted was fully booked, but honestly, I don't mind and I am glad the first place was book as this restaurant was excellent. The layout is a bit dated but don't let that fool you, with a view of the beach across the street this is a lovely place to have dinner. My girlfriend and I both had grilled fish options. I went with the Salmon and she had the Sea Bass. Both were delicious, although hers was looking up at her with sad dead eyes. We also had some shrimp as an appetizer that was excellent. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that we went in August of 2020 (the era of COVID) and the waitress and others working at the restaurant were not properly wearing masks. The waitress had one on, that she would pull down when talking to us so as to be heard better. Making the mask pointless

We had a little bottle of fizz each, while we were waiting, 200cl like you used to get on airplanes...drinkable, fun experience..£5 each....seriously there is nothing not to like! And nearly everyone in there was a regular or returned every year when on holiday...everyone seemed to know everyone..and you will understand why they comeback...we will Great (unusual) place, run I think by Greek Cypriots...a lot of Greek stuff on the menu too Check it out!
