Pros Near the Falls…read moreComfortable and tastefully decorated rooms French press coffee in your room! Great shower with awesome water pressure. Nice size TV Pillow selection Very friendly and helpful staff Cons Price- at these prices the value is questionable when everything is not absolutely perfect. We splurged on Riverside room but not much view of the river lol Towels are thin and rough Need more than two wine glasses. Regular glass for water would be nice. No fitness room on site. Day pass to another gym was fine but would have preferred something at the lodge( again bc paying a lot of money)

What a difference 40 years makes…read more I was at the Salish Lodge on a business trip for a week in 1989, and it was one of the most lovely experiences I've ever had. By the end of the first day, every valet and front desk person knew all of us by name, and they bent over backward to be helpful and treat us like valued guests even though we were working an event and weren't the ones paying for the rooms. (Our company had bought out the entire lodge, which was much smaller at the time.) All the guest rooms at that time faced the river and had a beautiful view of it. Not so anymore, as they've renovated the lodge and many rooms have either no view or a view of trees (definitely beautiful) but not the river. The latter was our experience. There was a tiny glimpse to be had if you peered far off to the right, but otherwise our view was the trees. This was disappointing simply because we didn't know the place had been added on to and now had non-river view rooms. My husband, who had given me this trip as a Christmas present, was very disappointed and asked if there were any river view rooms available instead. Sure -- for $700. (No thanks.) We stayed in our $400+ tree view room instead, but honestly, this room is about $250 overpriced. For that price, one would expect everything to be in perfect condition, plus a large-ish room. Not the case in ours. It's smaller than the size of a standard La Quinta or Comfort Inn type of room, has no dresser or drawers to unpack your clothes (unless you remove the iron from the 6"x6" drawer it's stored in), and the "closet" is an IKEA-like unit in the entryway of the room. There's a fireplace, a TV, and a small desk, plus two chairs crammed into the corner, and a narrow balcony outside to listen to -- not see -- the river. The bathroom has a shower with two rain-style shower heads, so bring something to cover your hair if you don't want to drench it every time you shower. (The hotel doesn't provide shower caps -- only a small bottle of lotion and some Q-tips and a make-up removal wipe that doesn't remove makeup. It's just to keep you from getting it on the white towels.) As to the room's condition -- There are lamps on each side of the bed. Mine had a wonky switch that had to be jiggled just so in order to work. It's supposed to be dimmable, but mine was either on or off. There is also a reading light built into the headboard. Mine didn't work. Also, water was shooting out the side of one of the shower heads where it connects to the pipe in the wall. I did tell the front desk the next morning, and they offered to move us to another room. I didn't want to have to pack up all my stuff and move to another room that may have had less of a view than we already had, so I told them we were leaving for the day and asked that someone come in to fix the issues. They did, but about six hours after I put in the request, my husband received a text asking when it would be convenient for them to come in. Needless to say, communication between the staff isn't great. As of this writing (getting ready to check out on Day 4), now the fireplace isn't working. It stopped last nigh

It's one of those magical places you remember vividly from childhood. We hiked the viewpoint path all the way down (and back up! ) before dinner. We had to change out of our sweaty hiking clothes in the parking lot. We were seated at a window view 4-top. (If you are frequent diners you'll understand how luxurious a 4-top is in a busy restaurant.) Our awesome server Damon started us with complimentary sparkling wine as an anniversary treat. Later came a small amuse bouche of dressed cherry tomatoes over what I think is the same pesto shown in the Romani beans photo. (We both have a tendency to start eating things before we remember to take the picture.) Our appetizer was the Burrata Cheese plate w/charred tomato & eggplant, lemon, over grilled olive bread. We ate it all before remembering to take a picture. (See previous paragraph.) He had the Cedar Smoked-Salmon in Dungeness crab and corn bisque, which I can't review because he wouldn't share any. I had the 14oz. Classic Center Cut Ribeye, which as you can see I tucked into before taking the shot. The steak was a perfect medium-rare and the Green peppercorn demi-glace is killer. Our sides were the Northwest Grits & Cheese Curds and a special that night of Romano Green Beans in Pesto. We fought over the last of the grits and took the last of the beans home for dinner the next night along with half of my ribeye. Dessert: What can I say? I hate sharing dessert to begin with. And this one, Peaches & Cream; cheesecake on butter cake,(shortbread) with roasted peach compote, bourbon salted caramel sauce, and house made butter pecan ice cream (and candied walnuts) We got 2. I ate all of mine and he ate all of his. Everyone was happy. For the full meal deal the total was $319 before tip. We had a $300 gift card. The lodge is only 25 minutes up the pass from us and we plan to go back again for drinks and apps at the Terrace Bar overlooking the falls. It's a lovely place.

The flatbreads were so tasty and were a hit but the tomato salad was the secret superhero - not sure where they source those small juicy flavor bombs but they were excellent on the palate!

Obviously the person on the grill wasn't trained or wasn't paying attention. Pacing was also a problem. Waited pretty long to order. Then salads came while we were finishing last bites of the appetizer. Then entrees came while I was literally in the middle of my salad. Talk about rushed. That salad would have been good if the shaved parm had been shaved. However, the pieces of parm were huge - really thick. Can't imagine who would think that was a good bite on a salad. The Broccolini was half cooked. I could barely cut the stem with a steak knife. Obviously. I couldn't eat those stems. They did not have a flight of wine that was all reds (i don't drink white wine). So why 4 stars instead of less? The mushroom toast appetizer was fantastic. I shouid have stopped there and would have been happy. The ceasar dressing and large crouton were good, even if the shaved parm was a bust. Once the steak was served to me medium as I'd ordered it, it was delicious and the fries were crispy and went well with the steak. I enjoyed the glass of wine I ordered. I hope they get their act together - such potential!
