Let me just say I have never given a 5 star review until today. Im a 7th generation Texan and I have never had a more moist/flavorful piece of brisket in my life. Every bbq sauce imaginable was on the table. The grilled shrimp were out of this world. As far as the ambiance you can't get more American. Walk around and look at the faces of the men and women who fought for our freedom. Talk to the staff like the young man Corey who made me feel welcome. I will be back next time I'm in town!

Walked in here and was immediately greeted by the staff in the back. Because of how the store is set up you order in the back and then they will call your name to pick up. Plenty of seating in and outside. First timers and the staff told us how to order as well as recommendations. We tried a little of everything and the food was amazing. Nicely smoked and grilled. Favorite was the brisket and ribs, so tender it fell off the bone. One thing I love about this place is the accompanying sauces and spices. They told us that none of the meats are ever frozen, they have no freezers and everything is prepared same day. Great customer service, food is flavorful and the setting a great for a casual lunch or dinner. Added pro is that this place screams AMERICA. great supports of veterans. You can tell by the pictures, slide show etc that this place gives back to those who served. I would come back here again.

The food was amazing, and the story behind Mission is even better! Kevin- supervisor I'm thinking, heard it was how first time. He explained the smoking process, explained the layout of the different walls, photos, and that all veterans eat free! The food was so good!

Pro: online ordering, big parking lot. Con: price, portion size. I been driving by this restaurant for months and after seeing the many positives reviews of this establishment my anticipation to try the food here has been high. I use the website to order some brisket, ribs, fries, and Mac N cheese which came to about 33 dollar before tax and 36 dollar after tax. The parking lot is big so no issue there and upon entering I pick up my order from the counter. Looking at the food box the first thing that comes to mind is that the portion size does not give you the bang for the buck. I could get more value at the region 117 restaurants for a lower price and more food compare to mission bbq is giving me. Let start with the fries, they were under season, not crispy, and were just sad. The mac N cheese was decent. The brisket was a bit dry so it was a good thing they give you a lot of sauce with the food. The ribs tasted ok and came off the bone with ease. All in all, I had higher expectations of mission bbq due to the many good reviews but it look like my hope were dashed and I don't see myself coming back here again in the future.

Delicious moist BBQ meats. We stopped for late lunch after hiking in Shenandoah and on the way to our overnight destination -Berkeley Springs. Brisket platter and baby back ribs were our favorites, moist, flavorful, literally melts in your mouse. The sides of baked beans and coleslaw were perfect companions. Pulled pork and pulled chicken were very good but pale in comparison with the brisket ( in my very subjective view). And (!) you can feed your inner child - there is no age restriction for the kids' menu: anyone can order from the kinds menu :). Finally, veterans eat free on the Veterans Day. Spacious, thematically decorated place, very clean. Superb ( efficient and friendly) service. Spacious outdoor patio/deck with water bowls for your doggies. 10 stars for everything - service and the food. I can see us driving from DC to this place just for a BBQ lunch at this place when the craving hits. Strongly recommend I can see

Wow, what a great meal. Did pickup. Nicely packaged. Split the ribs and beef brisket. Also had mac and cheese and green beans for sides. Of course the corn bread came with it. Wow. Loved everything about it. The ribs were pull of the bone tender. The brisket was tender too. Both with loads of flavor. As for the sides, two for two. Loved, loved the green beans. Had some meaty (hammy) flavor in them. The mac and cheese was very cheesy and tasty. The corn bread was a touch dry but flavorful; hard to complain. Definitely give this chain bbq place a try.

The amazing food is like heaven in your mouth.

Amazing heart welcoming place!! I met Mike S. For the 1st time and we immediately felt like we knew each other since childhood. The war stories we both had was very connecting. No matter where you come from, When you're here, you're family. That is the welcome you get when you come to Mission BBQ!

Good bbq for a chain. Beans, collards, pork, Mac and cheese and coleslaw are good. The cornbread and brisket are great.

The hush puppies are very good and we always enjoy them. My wife's pulled pork was not the best. The pork was kind of dry and stringy. She was not a fan of the fries, although someone else had the sweet potato fries and they were five out of five. My son had the brisket which he said was good, but he felt like it was a child's portion. I really enjoyed the ribs, even though I really wanted the bratwurst with the peppers but they were out of them. I had the pink coleslaw which I also enjoyed and if you're a vinegar fan, you will like it too. The potato salad was peppery, and I gave it a three out of five I like pickles in my potato salad. Overall, I'll still go back to this place. I think the food is decent and I like to set up and if I'm looking for ribs, this is where I'm going.

Maybe the waitress was new and didn't know where to find the menu prices. Maybe they were down to their last few rib bones that didn't have much meat on them. But what we received was not worth half the price we paid. But, I guess that makes me stupid and delusional. Facts are facts. I would hope you'd do something about that to improve your restaurant rather than bash the customer. But, maybe you're right about fixing things. Some you just can't.

We wanted to fill up on gas before "going over the mountain". GPS led us to the New Star Market/Shell Gas Station, which was only about a mile off I-81 and directly on our route. The self-service gas area was a bit congested, but we squeezed behind a parked pickup to get to a pump. Gas prices were excellent at $2,75/gallon. I went to check out the small convenience store. They seemed to have pretty much everything that a traveler might want or need, including snacks, a deli, and more. Many other reviewers have mentioned BBQ, and an outdoor sign, advertised this as well. Somehow, my husband and I both missed this -- probably because it wasn't lunch time for us yet! We'll have to check it out again upon our return. The cashier was friendly and polite. Restrooms were outside and clean. .

He had originally told me he would reimburse me for the coleslaw and roll shortages. There wasn't enough rolls for 100 people. He didn't even bring plates and silverware. And the greatest debate of them all; what sauce (if any) is the proper one. But there is one element all can agree on; aroma. If you pull up, close enough for the breeze to carry the smoke across your nostrils, you know if it's true barbecue. And on a cold night, having just spent 9 hours driving to Virginia, I had such an experience. A family member called as we got closer to arrival and mentioned Fizzle's. I don't remember his exact words, but they involved a trailer, fire pit, and good sides. It was like going on a blind date with a optimist; I was already in love and had yet to lay eyes on the place. Down this two lane road we traveled, the sun having already set, and I scanned the scenery in anticipation. In what could only be described as some form of bbq voodoo, it magically appeared around a corner. This beacon of light, contrasted against the starless sky, required no flashy signage or voluminous music. It was the sign, and the song, I was looking for. Our windows up, due to the ever dropping temperature, the aroma found its way to me. The savoriness of hickory, with notes of apple wood and cooking pork fat, was a siren and I the surrendering sailer. My appetite spoke for me that night, asking about the larger pork sandwich option, but thankful Reneta advised me that would be an entire pound (whereas the sandwich is still half a pound). I almost went for it, but I tell you wisdom must have intervened in that moment for I was dragging my fork across the finish line as I took the last bite of bean and mac n cheese. The sauce has just a touch of sweetness (likely a pinch of brown sugar), but not too overt. As a child I had a crush on Mrs. Frizzle. Corky, intelligent, encouraging, and she had a magic school bus. But now as a grown up, my new crush is Fizzle. The meat, the sides, the sauce, the seemingly secret locations they may pop up next. If you're in the area, order a plate for me. And I beg of you, tell me the moment they get desserts.
