Went in for a quick lunch and was greeted by the nicest people behind the counter. They went over the menu with us since it was our first time and asked if we wanted some samples. My fiancés jokingly said yes all of them. Well they did not hesitate to make that come true. The food could have been awful and I'd still give this place five stars just based off the customer service. These guys were phenomenal in explaining the culture behind mission and really taking pride in every aspect of the business. The food was delicious, it's honestly really solid bbq. Let me just say I have never given a 5 star review until today. Im a 7th generation Texan and I have never had a more moist/flavorful piece of brisket in my life. Every bbq sauce imaginable was on the table. The grilled shrimp were out of this world. As far as the ambiance you can't get more American. Walked in here and was immediately greeted by the staff in the back. Because of how the store is set up you order in the back and then they will call your name to pick up. Plenty of seating in and outside. First timers and the staff told us how to order as well as recommendations. We tried a little of everything and the food was amazing. Nicely smoked and grilled. Favorite was the brisket and ribs, so tender it fell off the bone. One thing I love about this place is the accompanying sauces and spices. They told us that none of the meats are ever frozen, they have no freezers and everything is prepared same day. Great customer service, food is flavorful and the setting a great for a casual lunch or dinner. Added pro is that this place screams AMERICA. great supports of veterans. Place was fine if you simply want BBQ but nothing crazy. Quick service and friendly staff. Lots of cool memorabilia. Came in on like a 1pm on a Saturday and was thinking maybe they have TV's showing the CFB games (Army and Navy were both playing and are undefeated). All four TV's appeared to be used for show slide honoring vets and showing pictures. Not an issue but there wasn't really any sound to cut through things. Pro: online ordering, big parking lot. Con: price, portion size. I been driving by this restaurant for months and after seeing the many positives reviews of this establishment my anticipation to try the food here has been high. I use the website to order some brisket, ribs, fries, and Mac N cheese which came to about 33 dollar before tax and 36 dollar after tax. The parking lot is big so no issue there and upon entering I pick up my order from the counter. Looking at the food box the first thing that comes to mind is that the portion size does not give you the bang for the buck. I could get more value at the region 117 restaurants for a lower price and more food compare to mission bbq is giving me. Let start with the fries, they were under season, not crispy, and were just sad. The mac N cheese was decent. The brisket was a bit dry so it was a good thing they give you a lot of sauce with the food. The ribs tasted ok and came off the bone with ease. All in all, I had higher expectations of mission bbq due to the many good reviews but it look like my hope were dashed and I don't see myself coming back here again in the future. read more

Delicious moist BBQ meats. We stopped for late lunch after hiking in Shenandoah and on the way to our overnight destination -Berkeley Springs. Brisket platter and baby back ribs were our favorites, moist, flavorful, literally melts in your mouse. The sides of baked beans and coleslaw were perfect companions. Pulled pork and pulled chicken were very good but pale in comparison with the brisket ( in my very subjective view). And (!) you can feed your inner child - there is no age restriction for the kids' menu: anyone can order from the kinds menu :). Finally, veterans eat free on the Veterans Day. Yes it's a chain... but they are good at what they do. All of the meats are great. Sides are solid. Staff is eager to help - including clearing the table for you. With some food chains - you understand why their concept works. This is that type of place. Love the variety of sauces at the table to try. Get a 2 or 3 meat meal and split it with the kids. First, love the mission of Mission BBQ and what it stands for which is why income her occasionally. Unfortunately, the food is just "ehh". As a regular barbecue eater, barbecue is measured by its brisket. The brisket here is simply dry and not that good. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that they have such a large amount of their cooking at one time and have to keep it but it simply is not as good as real independent barbecue places. Want to give a special thanks to the staff today all very professional and happy. Want to give an extra thanks to Scottie Coleman Community Ambassador who noticed my wife and I German Shepherds that are tattooed on my arms. She asked if they'd like some brisket I said well I have it here on the tray. She said I can give them some of the cut ends. I said sure I have to get them out of the truck and we will be out on the outside deck. They provide cold water outside too for any pups you may have if they are eating with you. She came out and ask can I sit it down for them 2 small bowls of brisket and I said yes they are comfortable with you. She took some time just to chat about the dogs the company and that we both had portraits tattooed on each of us. And we talked about life and I mentioned how my wife loved eating there and the tragic event that happened to my wife being called to the heavens and passing on Christmas last year. She then spoke of a family event that happened for her too at the same time period. She could see how much the German Shepherds are my rock. She then talked about her mission with the company and I then told her how thankful I am to Mission BBQ. See they catered my wife's memorial and diner after the funeral and they gave The Shawnee Volunteer Fire Dept a great discount for the event cause that's where I met my wife 22 yrs ago. And she was happy they could help. She said if your still here I'll come back see the pups befor you go. She did come out and gave me a free desert and a gift sandwich card. Which I'm extremely thankful. I enjoy there food maybe sometimes the portions may be smaller than one thinks but I support them cause of being a veteran and still serving the public as a Firefighter. But what I was truly thankful was her customer service and time to chat. I have been in public service the vast majority of my life and sometimes when someone has time to listen and talk it makes your day. I struggle a lot with the passing of my wife and how it happened and how young she was when called to the kingdom of Heaven. And that helped me a lot to get through the day. What can I say of this place? There's nothing bad when it comes to great BBQ. I was thoroughly surprised to walk into this establishment and find how much they catered to emergency services as well as to the military and veterans. I had gotten the brisket sandwich and my mother had gotten the BBQ pork entree. Both were amazing, as well as the many different sauces at the table. It was a shame they didn't have any lemons for their tea, but it is understood during the current times to minimize cost when you can. We did dine in and ate our food, and when we had enough leftovers to take home, was able to get covers and a box to go. Mission BBQ is extremely LE, Military, and First Responder friendly! When I went down to Mexico Beach, FL/Panama City, FL last year for hurricane relief efforts after Hurricane Michael... they treated us like true American hero's and it was so refreshing to be appreciated. The whole town was out of commission but the owner and his wife came and opened up just for us and served us everything in their pantry for free! Mind you, nothing was open because the entire area was leveled! No power etc! They took such good care of us, I vowed to eat at one of their restaurants no mater what city I see them in! That's what brought me to this restaurant. The food was amazing! The Salmon with Green Beans is one of my favorites but the Brisket married well with the Tupelo Honey sauce! Thanks guys! read more
