I wanted to start by saying that Kerri, one of the managers, was extremely friendly to me and my friend as we were visiting for the first time. She didn't hesitate when it came to recommendations for us and was extremely professional. Very amazing personality as well and a great willingness to help so thank you so much if you're reading this review. The inside of the restaurant is fairly large, consisting of booths and tables. You walk in, you order and wait until your food is ready. Everything offered on the menu is made fresh to order, as in they will only prepare french fries for example, only when someone orders it. Kerri mentioned that the restaurant doesn't have a single freezer, proving that everything is fresh and constantly cycled out. Each table has 6-pack of sauces, mostly all BBQ oriented sauces, but differs slightly amongst each one. Some are tangy, some are sweeter, and some are hotter. Each sauce goes well with a specific type of meat. My friend and I are extremely huge fans of BBQ and decided to try a good amount of items from the menu. We ordered 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of jalapeno cheese sausages, the black platter (which is a fairly sized juicy rib eye), corn bread, and the banana pudding. The orders came with sides with which we decided to go with the mac n cheese, fries, and cold slaw. The brisket was actually way too salty, I'm not sure if we got a bad cut but I definitely think there was a mishap with the seasoning there. On the other hand, the rib-eye was perfect, it literally releases so much flavor and juices as you eat it, you don't even need any sauce. The sausages were really good, the cheese stuffed jalapeno bits inside made it even more enjoyable as the cheese slowly melted. The sides were what was expected from any other restaurant, nothing to special, but not bad at all. Now, the banana pudding is a different story... It is SO GOOD. Its literally the perfect amount of sweet, the perfect amount of breading, and perfect in every aspect. If I go back, I know im ordering at least three of the banana bread puddings. (Now, from what I understand the bread pudding may be a seasonal item, so don't miss out! However, I may be mistaken, but don't risk it!) It may sound weird, but the cornbread and banana bread pudding goes really well too. The best part of all of this is the price, our total bill came out to around $42. This is a great deal for such quality BBQ. The rib eye alone was only $10 and I will definitely be going back for another plate soon. Coming from Texas...I know good BBQ and I could tell you this: MISSION BBQ IS GOOD BBQ! The staff was extremely inviting and the food was awesome. I was tempted to get the smoke rib eye...but ultimately decided to get the 3 meat sampler with: Jalapeño Sausage, Moist Brisket, and Pulled Pork. Being in Canton on a business trip, I tried to try most of the menu in one sitting, so I added the fries and mac n' cheese as well. Everything was really good and there were 6 different BBQ sauces to try. My only complaint would have to be the corn bread. Everything was so good, I was expecting the corn bread to be super moist as well. Turned out to be really dry that it caught me by surprise and caused me to cough. It was an end piece (which is typically dryer and usually my favorite btw), so maybe the center pieces are better. Still I judge a BBQ joint by their BBQ, service, and enthusiasm, so Mission is definitely worthy of 5 stars. Ok, I check out BBQ places whenever I can. First time at Mission BBQ. Good choice! I ordered the BBQ sandwich NC. That's North Carolina, with the slaw on top. This is good BBQ, I've had better, but it was just outside of Memphis. But, for local to Canton, good stuff. The portions were plentiful! Bun was fresh, meat was moist and warm, since it was takeout. Mission BBQ is probably the best BBQ spot you will find in Canton. I am from Texas, so I decided to stop in a try a bite. I got the half chicken with green beans and mac and cheese, my mom got the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese. For starters, the atmosphere is really cool. It's very clean and is a veteran theme. The mac and cheese was really good. I especially liked the little breadcrumbs on top. The green beans has pieces of brisket in it. Those were also good. The best part of this meal was the chicken by far. The skin was seasoned to perfection. It was a lot of food and it filled me up. The brisket was seasoned ok. It was a little dry but had overall good flavor. I would definitely come here again. I'm happy to see canton finally has a place where I can get some good BBQ. read more

My husband and I ate here one time before the pandemic. He had the brisket meal and I had the pulled chicken. It was delicious! We were in the area, yesterday, and having remembered how good it was we decided to stop again. We both ordered the same thing. So surprised and disappointed by how spicy the chicken was this time. I DO NOT do spicy and I know it was not this way the first time because I would not have ordered it again. Their menu board said "Tasty and Tender". It should have also said SPICY. This place is incredible. I only drive into town for work every 4 months or so but have visited this place every time. Amazing staff, service and food. I can never remember to take a picture of the food before I devour it all. The brisket is my favorite, but the meat sampler is a must for anyone new and the price is perfect for what you get. The atmosphere is great with friendly staff walking around talking to patrons eating at their tables. The samples of different bbq sauces makes every bite a different meal but honestly you could easily eat all the meat with no sauces, it's just made that well. read more

We had Mission cater our 100 person wedding and they went above and beyond. The food was incredible.. We got the brisket, chicken, and pulled pork with mac and cheese, potato salad, and beans as sides. The mac and cheese was the crowd favorite. Jen was so helpful coordinating everything, the setup and tear-down went smooth and we didn't have to be involved. They even help stock our cookie dessert table (which they did not bring). I especially like how Jen worked with us to include a smaller coffee station at a discounted price when the coffee station pushed us over our budget. Would highly recommend! read more

WOW, the brisket is exceptional! Better than what I had in Texas. The chicken is excellent as well. The menu is great because you can get a 2 or 3 meat platter. Every side I got was so good! My favorites are the green beans fries and Mac & cheese. THE BEST PART: their true mission to support military, police, coast guards and others that protect us. A great BBQ place. The menu is short and sweet and to the point. If you can't make up your mind get the sampler and get a little bit of everything. They have a strong military and law enforcement and fire fighters memorabilia on the walls and show them lots of love. I consider myself a decent judge of BBQ. The best I've EVER had is at Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix, AZ. That is the standard by which I judge BBQ. That said, Mission BBQ is a solid 3 Star BBQ place. Disclaimer - I know this is a chain and rarely would I expect a chain to blow me away with their BBQ but I saw the reviews and went against my better judgement ;) The highs: They ask what your preference is for brisket, i.e. moist or lean. Their Kickin Collard Greens were some of the best I've ever had. The lows: Brisket lacked flavor, I even asked for the moist/fatty part. I don't think you should ever need to add bbq sauce to good brisket. Their brisket required it and of the six sauces to choose from, none stood out. When I asked what sides they are known for, the cashier said Mac n Cheese. It wasn't even worth finishing. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting much more. The pulled pork not only tasted bland, there was a hint of a very bad flavor. I couldn't place it but I could barely hide it even after soaking in sauce. The whole meal cost about $14 without a drink, which was also disappointing because that is way too much to pay for average BBQ. read more

First of all, I've yet to find real BBQ anywhere in Ohio. I used to live in Texas where they have real BBQ and it's nothing like this fake Ohio BBQ. Secondly, BBQ is not a chain operation. Real BBQ is made in a single, old building with wooden tables, not in a strip plaza or next to the mall, and BBQ smoked in a real old time smoker, usually outside behind the restaurant, not a stainless steel smoker cabinet back in the kitchen. I adore this place so much, for so many reasons! First off, they are very first-responder oriented. The decor is all about cops and fire fighters and supporting LEO's especially tugs on my heart strings. They regularly offer special cups that raises money for different causes and gives you a discount for future purchases. The food itself is great! My personal tastes, I love BBQ sauce! And they put 6 bottles of different sauces on the tables so you can add it to your meat at your discretion. I like to get the shredded chicken sandwich. The meat is so tender! I dined here at Mission BBQ, Canton location this past Sunday. We were served by Mr. Newman. Now I say we were served, but it was so much more than that. This man's customer service skills are incredible. First of all he happily greeted us and asked if this was our first time there. We told him it was, and he actually got more excited. He spent the next 10 minutes giving us in-depth descriptions and reviews of each and every item on the menu. The way he described these items had us drooling over every word. As we started to order, he even made small suggestions to tweak our order to give us the very best experience there. We took each pointer and were not disappointed in the least. Between the four of us eating there, we ordered almost every single type of meat they had, and sampled off of each other's plates. Everything was PERFECT! They had 6 individual homemade sauces in order from least to most spicy. My personal favorite was the Smoky Mountain. Now three of us had ordered the Mac n' Cheese as a side dish. But the one who had ordered the cheesey potatoes let us all take a taste. I quickly exclaimed that the potatoes were even better than the Mac n' Cheese and we were all in agreement! Our server heard this and proceeded to bring over another side of the potatoes, and a quarter pound of the shredded chicken, which was the one meat we hadn't tried, at no extra cost to us. Sometimes people say it is not about the food as much as it is the experience. Well at Mission BBQ it is about both! Food that is wonderful, and an experience that won't soon be forgotten.
