Came with my family hoping to replicate the experience on Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. Place was mostly empty and we were promptly seated. Ordered off the hibachiunch menu and wete brought our soups or salads. Took about 15 minutes for the chef to come out and start making out food. It was a much younger guy and he was not into it. He had an airpod in and was on a 9 way video call of some sorts with his phone on the food cart. He did a little perfunctory interaction with the kids and spatula whacking/egg balancing/fire column at the beginning and then just proceeded to cook out food and mutter into his call. Kinda off putting and definitely a much poorer experience than my first time here. My family liked the food -- we got steak and chicken, chicken, and shrimp hibachi. Portions were all very large. I loved my steak and thought the chicken was dry, veggies a little hard but my half Asian wife thought everything was good so maybe it was just my unhappiness with the chef. I'll probably try again, but maybe go during a more prime time when hopefully the better chef is cooking.

I ordered the spicy beef ramen and some pork fried rice with the intention of having fried rice for leftovers. The ramen was phenomenal and just what my throat was needing. Even though I generally finish or get very close to finishing ramen, I had almost half leftover. The rice was a good basic fried rice and it will be good leftover maybe with some sauce added. There was some barbecue-like sauce in a portion cup in the bag that was decent with the rice. Ordered to-go and it was not ready when I arrived but it was ready by the quoted time. Small restaurant.

We enjoyed speing rolls, wonton soup, I got my go to dish of red chicken curry with brown rice and Karen got a different dish from the lunch menu. She loved it. I think their lunch menu is available until 3:00 every day (maybe not Sunday) and we arrived at 2:30. The lunch meals are a great value! Now, I like sushi, but I'm also kinda not rich. Sushi runs up the check before I run out of hunger. So teriyaki and a lot of water. My wife, her daughter and son-in-law, and I needed to birthday in honor of aforementioned wife. Aki got good reviews on Yelp. None of us had previously tried it, and to end the where-should-we-go round-and-round, I declared for Aki and started the car. We could go back. It was very good. Mm. I can't remember exactly what we all had, dang it. My receipt doesn't say. But son-in-law and I both had shrimp and noodles. Get that. Very tasty brown sauce, plenty of pretty good shrimp (c'mon - this is northern Alabama, not the coast), excellent udon? noodles, perfect onions, sweet sweet carrot. Steamed rice perfectly sticky for picking up with chopsticks. Very savory, just right saltwise. And a salad with tasty dressing, even though it's almost the same dressing at almost every Japanese restaurant. Son-in-law, a strapping sort, ate it all there. I, old, had a whole lunch of leftovers, which were delicious. My wife got beef noodles, I think, but they were different, and didn't come with a salad. The sauce was a little lighter and the beef was robust, a perfect combination. Get that, if you can figure out what it is. (sorry) Daughter got a tuna and avocado roll with pink soybean paper wrapper. It was surprisingly big for the price, and she loved it. The store was clean, though everything was pretty worn - even the menus. Guessing it's because of the heavy traffic of happy people coming to eat here over the last five, I think, years it's been open. Even a couple of tables of seemingly Japanese customers, including one with four cheerful and entertaining kids. Bring the fam, I guess! Service was excellent. The store was very clean and comfortably lit. It was easy to find and get to. Didn't try the bathrooms. Parking was shopping center parking. It all works. Full check for four, water to drink, no appetizer but a tip reflecting the service: $84. Thought that was reasonable. Go there!
