Stopped in with the family after church, made a drive out to Madison because the wife wanted Ramen and we'd never been here. Kind of a hole in the wall place - seating is limited, one comfy four top and then a lot of stuff mostly designed for 1-2 people. The booths can hold 4 people, but it will be a tight 4. They will hand you a menu when you come in, but you will order at the counter when you are ready. Water and unsweet tea were self serve and free, they had canned Coke products (no Coke Zero) -- all the dishes were served in togo/disposable containers. Employees were extremely friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes to sample everything; shrimp katsu plate, chicken gyoza, chicken katsu, beef curry rice and tonkotsu Ramen. Prices are reasonable for Huntville - Curry or Ramen dishes are $15, Katsu plates $12, and Kids (Keiki) are $8. Portions were good and food came out quickly. Wife is half Asian and said all the food was food for the most part. She enjoyed her Ramen and my Curry. I was not a fan of the gyoza (might have been it being chicken and not pork) and felt the sear was light. Vegetables in my curry were huge, but that's a nitpick. My wife gets the Chicken Katsu Curry, the chicken is always perfectly cooked with a great crispy coating. First of all, the lady that served us was just so so nice. Would go back just for her alone. The space is bright and clean. It was relatively full in there when we arrived, too. The food was very good. I didn't even order the broth udon soup thing that my husband got, but the FLAVOR in that broth was incredible. I liked it more than the curry rice, but that's probably just because of the flavor I was wanting that day. We both got chicken katsu. Super yummy. Spring rolls were fab. I'm back one year later and the owner not only remembered me but also what I ordered. Last time was beef curry. She told me they made improvements in the cut of beef they are using in the curry. So I had the beef curry again and an order of steamed gyoza. Again perfect! The beef they are using is beef shank which is tender yet firm. Stopped by here with a few friends after wanting to visit for a few weeks. I was greeted when I entered and requested a table for our group. They provided menus with a small picture book of some of the menu items; I've never had this experience before. Kudos to the owners for doing this. I was informed about the different broths in each type of ramen. This label for the menu would be nice. My original intention was to order the Curry Ramen, but I held off after hearing that it had beef broth and couldn't be changed. I ending up ordering a Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. While waiting for my order, I grabbed some complimentary Peach Oolong Tea, which was very appreciated. I even grabbed some to-go! Once I received my ramen, I was a little surprised to see a hard boiled egg. Most places usually have soft-boiled, and one of the owners indicated that they intend to continue this going forward. I'm personally not a fan, but the ramen was decent. The broth wasn't as hearty, but definitely imparted a good umami flavor. The chashu was nice and thick. We were also served some house made kimchi, which I enjoyed. It had a nice crunch but could use some spice. The owners indicated that they were still experimenting with their menu. I got the kimchi ramen and my husband got the curry udon with katsu, both were very delicious. Our foods were freshly prepared and quickly brought to the table to go. We were offered complimentary oolong tea and water while we waited. Hubs had a few cups of the tea to my surprise. He enjoyed it. We left to head home to enjoy our foods. The cold noodles were great just like last time. The owner suggested I try the Tam Tam ramen and while it's spicy, it is my new favorite. I normally do not eat hot foods but the broth was flavorful and spicy hot to me. Others might think it's medium hot but I was on fire. I'm a return customer. Food is always spot on. This is very similar to what you will find in Hawaii. The beef curry is 'broke da mout'! You won't be disappointed with anything you get. We've tried the udon, ramen, curry, etc... The owner is awesome. Haven't had a chance to eat in the restaurant but it's really cute. If you do take out, you can be sure it will be packaged well. Immediately we were offered complementary Oolong tea and water, and within five minutes of ordering we were delivered a side of the most delicious kimchi I've had in AGES. My husband and I both ordered Ramen, (he got spicy pork tonkatsu, and I had vegetable with soft tofu), and we were given heaping bowls of steaming, lovely ramen topped with so many beautiful and delicious things that I had to visually appreciate it before I could dive in.
