Tonight was my first time here and we will definitely be back. EJ was our chef and Erin was our server and they were both so kind and friendly. Everyone working there is wearing masks and they are sitting people enough distance away from each other which is nice. Excellent sushi I stopped in for lunch very very happy with the three rolls that I purchased as part of the lunch menu. Came with salad and soup. Quality isOutstanding. My sense is their sushi Chefs are very very good. My only complaint is the waitress was not very responsive. And when it was time to leave, she was nowhere to be found. Alright, I know I said I probably wouldn't be back, but I went back. Well, sort of. I was tired and wasn't in the mood to sit somewhere loud and busy so I just ordered from Uber eats, even though I was only right across the street. I was really craving sushi and remembered how delicious it looked from this place. Going back and forth in my head for a while about whether or not I should give this place another chance, I decided to. This time I got the crab Rangoon and the avocado salad along with a Philadelphia roll and an a sweet potato roll. The Crab Rangoon was pretty good. Had a very good flavor and was a little more savory compared to some I've had in the past that were more on the sweet side. The dipping sauce had a nice kick to it as well. Avocado salad was also really good, definitely enjoyed the dressing and it had tons of avocado on it. The thing I will say about that though, they didn't include a fork (to be fair, I'm not sure if I checked the box on my order to include silverware or not) so I had to eat it with chopsticks which is a bit of a problem when you're as inept as I am when it comes to chopsticks. I'm lucky if I can hold a piece of sushi with them. Sweet potato roll was delicious and the filling had a nice crisp. The Philadelphia roll was also really good but in my opinion, the salmon kind of got lost with the cucumber and cream cheese. For the last few pieces I ate, I took the salmon out and ate it on its own and it was really really delicious. I just don't think there was enough of it in the roll. Overall, I do think this place redeemed itself a bit. Obviously can't speak to the sit down service improving or not, but another time when I'm more in the mood, I just may give it another try. read more

Favorite spot for a good time! It's always fun and friendly when we go. This was our first time going at lunch rather then for dinner, it was a little slower but it was also busy. We didn't mind. We had some cocktails while we waited for our hibachi. Drinks were okay typically I feel like the scorpion bowl isn't as strong as it was but food was amazing. We got beef negimaki to start with, the flavor was amazing and the beef was tender. For lunch we had chicken hibachi which was of course amazing. It's always a fun atmosphere being at hibachi. i've been coming here for years and the past 3 times I've been here for hibachi, it has been disappointing. i thought maybe it was the guy cooking that day and i gave them 2 more tries. the food hasn't been good, the cooks rush everything and it hasn't been like before. they haven't been putting in the same effort, they put the rice and noodles on the grill & put it on your plate like 2 minutes after. the food hasn't had good flavor.. they normally put a good amount of salt and pepper, sauce & garlic etc. & the portions of the food has been absurd. for the price of $30 hibachi it's always a full plate of food that i can have leftovers to take home & eat later. today was officially my last day giving them my money. this place is going down hill. so embarrassing. read more

Fun, fun, fun! teeny door around the backside leads into a HUGE restaurant with a large bar section, tables, and then the hibachi tables in the back. A standard hibachi show. Our friendly chef definitely fed off of our energy and so we had a really great time! It was a lot of fun too that we got the chef from the banner photo. We had scallops, shrimp, steak, filet mignon - all cooked correctly. We really liked that we got both fried rice and lo main without having to ask or an extra charge and the lo mein was just right (not too sweet). We were even able to get 9 separate checks without an attitude or a side eye from the waitress. I had the crab Rangoon appetizer and it was delicious. I have been to Misimi a few times now, and have had good experiences every time with the exception of the service being a bit slow 2 of those times. On this occasion, we started w/a couple drinks, a Popcorn Lobster roll & Spicy crab roll. I got the Guavatini, which was delicious. The lobster sushi roll was one of the best i've had, & was presented beautifully, however; the spicy crab wasn't extremely memorable for me. I got shrimp & filet hibachi for my entree, which was yummy & I felt the portions were great for the price. I much prefer the filet to the steak here. First time getting takeout and wow the process was so easy from Placing the order online to all the meals we ordered. They also had no problem making some meals GLUTEN FREE!! I've always loved this restaurant for their food but after my experience last night I will not be returning. The wait for hibachi was 45 minutes so I decided to sit at a table instead. I proceeded to order the hibachi food I intended on getting. It was terrible, everything was soggy and way over cooked. One meal was a filet medium rare and it came out burnt with way too much liquid on the dish. I also don't recommend the calamari as it was so over cooked and way past chewy. I was so disappointed, I spent over $100 for food that was not freshly prepared. Please don't come if you're looking for freshly cooked food. read more

Our family had reservations for Hibachi for 6:30pm. We arrived a few minutes early and were told by the hostess that 3 tables were in process of paying and that we would be the 1st to be seated once a table opened up. After 10 minutes of waiting, the manager marched another group right past and seated them at one of the tables that opened up. After another 5 minutes of waiting, the same manager marched another group right past us and seated them even though we were next 15 mintues earlier. At that point, I spoke with both the hostess and the manager and guess what - they told us "we would be next". At that point we had enough and promptly LEFT Misimi. The manager can disregards reservations all he wants. He will not have our business again. Happy ending - we went up the road to Little Barn, we're promptly seated without a reservation, had a GREAT meal and FANATASTIC service. Strongly recommend Little Barn if ypu are not interested in getting stiffed on your reservation at Misimi. read more

I was eating in the restaurant today when a young lady came in and asked the hostess to speak to the owner about printing her menus for her. The owner came out yelling at her to get out of her restaurant audibly and angrily, in front of customers and pointing at the door. I was SHOCKED that she would treat someone that way who was simply doing a job. I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful she was. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant experience then this is the place. From the moment you step through the door, you are met with a very relaxing environment: clean, well lit without being bright, and surprisingly spacious. We were sat by the window and found the seating very comfortable and sturdy. The view out of our window was mediocre but it didn't take away from our experience. Now, the food. We ordered sashimi, miso soup, rice, and seaweed salad. The plates were beautifully presented and very artistic. The miso soup and seaweed were delicious, which was a very good sign. The sashimi, was some of the best quality we have had in CT and this restuarant serves REAL Wasabi. We gambled and ordered Toro (fatty tuna) and were not disappointed. It was easily the best fatty tuna we have had in the US (better than expensive Manhattan toro), and was only beat out by Tokyo. The mackerel was also exquisite, and had a much lighter flavor than other mackerel with hints of ginger. Their fish quality was amazing. The service was also spectacular, quick, friendly, and kind.
