    My coveted duck

Back yet again - they need to patent the Tomatoes Two Ways. Pure delight. Our destination restaurant. Opted for the duck breast but sorely tempted by the lamb ribeye. Next time. All family run- service is like they depend on customers. John and Heather - keep it going. Quiet and cool inside - it's too nice to sit inside.

Stopped here for Sunday brunch takeout thanks to seeing someone else's post on Facebook. Was just kicking tires until I saw bananas cost French toast. Contacted them and ordered via Facebook and picked up 15min later. Small spot - they have plans to have sit in service - but with a soft opening and the government shutdowns, they only had carry out. Seemed like a family owned and operated business. They were very nice, and talked about their plans and business while I waited. The French toast was very good - the bananas foster aspect was very good, could have a little more glaze but very tasty. Portions was incredible for $12 - 4 large slices. I added bacon to the order and it came with a potato mash and whipped cream. All in all I would recommend this place. Will return to try non-breakfast items! Thanks

Eaten from here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times, very good. Haven't been there to eat but am anxious to do that when things get 'back to normal.' I am a big pulled pork person and I am a large bananas foster person so on the days they offer these items, I was lucky enough to be considered and though of and surprised with great food. Phew, i felt full afterwards though.

Found this place accidentally and we are so glad we did! Took my parents to Cumberland for the weekend and started the weekend off with this fantastic meal! Greeted with smiles from Jasmine and all the staff and owners. We got there at 5:15 right after we opened and it was nice and quiet til 6 when others arrived. Called ahead and learned it is BYOB so we packed plenty of wine. The complimentary appetizer was delish! We then had raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller and the charcuterie. All was amazing. No complaints. The bread board was all made in house. Focaccia was the best. Had French onion and she crab soup. She crab tasted great but had fish bones in it. Don't skip it but swallow carefully. Onion soup was good. They put the cheese on the bread, not on top the broth. Way easier to eat. Had Halibut, steak, and seafood dinners. All was amazing. Seriously , no complaints. We split the chocolate sampler among all four of us. Just a bite of each one was enough. Oh the coffee!!!! Do not leave without having their coffee. I'm a cream and sugar coffee drinker and I didn't need to add any! the owners came out to visit with everyone. Loved this place. It's not cheap but we spent 3 hours here. Felt like I was in Europe having dinner in France. Dinner is an event. No rush. Worth every penny!!!

If you are in Cumberland you must check this place out. Menu changes all the time and is made by a classically trained French chef. Byob with no corkage. You will not be disappointed everything we had was amazing and the owners are very nice.

So good to have this high level quality in town. This family puts their ALL into their meals and service and it shows. I am always impressed that food this good can be attained at a take out level.

Tucked into a random…read morestrip mall in Upper St. Clair, Bertrand is nestled in a rundown area that leaves a lot to be expected. Upon entering the restaurant, there are crystal chandeliers, bright colors, French posters, and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of potential until we experienced the service and cuisine. I brought my Supper Club here, and we had a group of 8 of us. There was also a very large group at the restaurant. We were neglected on several occasions, and it took us 2 HOURS just to get our food order. That's not an exaggeration. Our waitress was rather snippy with us, and ended up apologizing at the end but it did make for an unpleasant experience. When we finally received our bread, we were so hungry that we scarfed it down despite it being not so great sour dough bread. Every dish was flavorless and left us wanting more. I had to send back the steak on two occasions: once for being undercooked and once for being overcooked. I ended up getting my meal for free. The Coquilles St. Jacques had the smallest scallops without the lovely scallop shell its usually served in. The shrimp cocktail tasted like anything you could get at the grocery store. The Nicoise Salad was just sad and flavorless. The porkchop and escargot had the most flavor. I will definitely not be back to this establishment. Our group did enjoy each other's company, and it created a very memorable experience even though it was an overall bad experience!

Unlike traditional French meals, ours did not take long to prepare (or devour) we loved the BYOB option, and chose to sit outdoors. There was a funny carpet smell when we arrived so I was glad we had the option to sit outside under an umbrella. This meal style wast really my thing.. lots of potatoes, and I didn't get much flavor from the meats. I don't know if I would return but I'm really glad we did come here to celebrate our anniversary!

I nicely offered to tell him how to make them correct when he first brought the incorrect ones but he just grabbed our bills and said he'd be back. After the fourth attempt at getting them right he took off around the corner and our ladies heard him Say "JC!" Well the bills were wrong again. At this point he finally slowed down long enough to let me tell him who actually had what for dinner and he subsequently brought our correct bills with which he now slammed down on the table and said "if that's not right I'm going home." On top of that all 3 ladies complained their mixed drinks were weak. And one more thing, they add an automatic 20% service fee on your bill for a 6 top. Who does that? Maybe an 8 top but for just 6 people?? Needless to say we were upset and really disappointed with the whole experience. And there's no way I would have left a 20% Tip after that show of incompetence and incivility. We will not be back!

And, if you get lost easily even with GPS, you might arrive with the gift of daylight. Especially if you are not familiar with Great Falls. The drive does really double the charm of the meal, here. I love the old world aesthetic of L'Auberge Chez Francois. It is intimate, elevated, classic and offers many diners Alsatian meals to remember. I used my hiring bonus to take a new hire here. We both enjoyed steaks. It's been awhile but I loved the French Onion Soup and whatever fabulous steak they were offering that season. I just took a look at the current menu and if I was ordering this season, the Chateaubriand de l'Auberge - for two - is looking like the winner. I think they have their own garden which the vegetables with the steak come with. We went in the evening, so I didn't get to see the lush gardens pictured on their website. And I am sure the béarnaise and truffle sauce are divine. I might have enjoyed a hot soufflé here. The current soufflé options, aside from the dessert tray, are Grand Marnier, Chocolate and Raspberry. Where else can you find 3 variations of soufflé? For that matter, where can you enjoy soufflés, at all? Definitely check their event list for the special wine dinners and musical events at www.laubergechezfrancois.com. Happy Hours are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6pm. At time of writing, their famed Garlic bread and salads range between $6 to $10 and small plates range between $15 and $20. Craft beers, wine and cocktails range between $7 and $12. L'Auberge Chez Francois is a lovely and special place to dine and celebrate.

Given the restaurant likely seeks opportunities for improvement, the following details are offered..... 1) Hard seats, though padded, became uncomfortable over time. By the end of our two - hour seating, we were more than eager to get up and go. An unnecessary distraction. We'll bring our own set cushion next time. 2) Water glasses smelled off. It's not the water as the odor remained in glasses used for bottled water. Based on experience, we guessed a dirty dishwasher was to blame. 3) A pesky fly was with us the entire meal. Perhaps it was more than one fly, yet it was surprising for indoor seating. A minor distraction, but surprising. We'll be back.
