I've spent way too much for subpar haircuts where the stylists would talk a big game but just not deliver. I grew up near Bluebird salon and am visiting family for the holidays. Decided to get my haircut and just had a good feeling about Bluebird Salon on Main St. in Goodlettsville. Lindsey was lovely to chat with and cool and smart and just delivered above and beyond what I expected, in terms of getting a great haircut! Here are some specifics about Bluebird Salon: 1) Lindsey actually listened to me. She did not try to get me to have a haircut or style that I did not ask for; that has happened at other places. 2) I talk to just about everyone. I mean, I am one of those girls that cannot shut-up! lol and everyone I spoke with/interacted with that works at Bluebird Salon had great hair. These ladies were lovely and happy to chit chat or answer my questions which was a welcome change from other places I have visited where I have lived all over 3)There are some really cute affordable clothes on a rack with a quaint fashion forward holiday/Christmas vibe near the entrance of the salon. Saw a camel-ish brown colored vest in a quilted material that had an inner lining of a silky soft material in a plaid print in Christmas colors(white, green, red but in a sophisticated plaid in Christmas colors rather than a cheesy look)...for $20! Saw something similar at jcrew online for about $125. and from feeling the vest at Bluebird I could tell the quality of craftsmanship was excellent and showed really good work. Whomever made that vest-you have a real talent at fashion! 4)I showed Lindsey 2 different photos from magazines and books the salon keeps in their waiting area, and decided on one photo as something as a look to try to have. Now, I have never had any stylist cut or style my hair that looks so similar to the photo I have asked to have my hair look similar too, nor have I actually believed that my hair could look all that similar to a photo in a magazine. seriously, I am kicking myself right about now; I wish I would have taken a photo of me holding the US Weekly magazine because my hair looked so similar to the photo of Gabrielle Union that I could not stop smiling all the way home or even now! speaks volumes(no hair pun intended on the word volumes) on Lindsey's talent to cut and style hair, as well as, to listen to her clients 5)The salon itself, Bluebird salon, has a upscale and still comfy feel to the entire environment, which lets face it-environment and decor makes a big difference when you go get your hair done or nails done or color, whatever it is you came in the salon for. I buy my clothes off the clearance rack because I don't like clothes and cannot fathom spending a lot on something so easily thrown away or grown out of. Keeping with that tradition I only get my hair cut twice a year, once in the Winter/Spring and once sometime in the Summer/Fall. The problem with that is I can never remember the person that cuts it each time and they don't remember me. I have been going to the R Salon for years and every time it's like the first time. New faces and new me trying to explain what kind of cut I want. With that said I haven't really had a bad experience here. I work down the street and they accept walk-ins so that outweighs my usual wait time. It was a bit this time but I believe I showed up at lunchtime on a Thursday so of course they were going to be busy. Luckily I was able to get in and get the cut on my lunch hour then get back in time to get back on the clock. You'll see the little brown sign on the fence where the train tracks are. Easy peasy. This compound has a lot going on but not typically on Sundays. Guys, I truly am sorry but I try to go about 14 weeks between appointments because of the pocketbook, ya know what I'm saying? In which case I need someone that knows what the heck they are doing and the quality required is not usually met with my expectations. I think I've found my home here with Dren (also from LH)!! I arrive and she's not running behind so we can get started a little early HOW RARE?!!!!
