Despite the shabby location and old school furniture- I was impressed by the flavor and freshness of the food as well as the service and that's honestly what I cared about. We were hungry driving on FM 1960 and saw this place and decided to give it a chance. If you're interested in the quality of your food and wouldn't mind waiting a few minutes then I say give it a go. I found this place on Yelp... I have recently decided to commit to a vegan diet and it came up in my search. Goggle took me to the strip center just past it's location so don't miss it! Alright so I'm pretty torn about this place. Second time coming, & I think it may have been my last. Food is pretty good. Ive had the vegetable samosas, channa masala, & the gobi mix. Paratha which is I guess there version of naan is pretty good too. Service is good & front lady is really nice. What it basically comes down to is my OCD self. I need cleanliness in my-life & this place is not a very clean facility. Ants crawling on the table, spider webs on the window sills, dirty utensils, my water cup had a black stain on it. Nope! Until this place can up its ante then it has lost my business. Damn shame too, cause vegan friendly places are hard to find. Hopefully they will makes some changes for the better. read more

Very good Indian vegetarian food. Food is not too oily and the taste is really good. This is the only Indian Restaurant in Houston which provides such good North Indian vegetarian food. The only downside is it will take a lot of time (~35-40 mins) for them to bring the food. Hence, it is better to order in advance on phone. read more

The service was spectacular! This is a small restaurant where you order at the front. While I normally eat Indian food in a buffet, the cashier (possible owner) helped me with the menu. I described the food I normally like, and she was able to suggestion dishes that were on point. We started on the samosas, and they were freshly made and full of flavorful potatoes and peas. While it took a while for dishes to come out, they were properly seasoned and not too spicy. We ordered a chickpea curry dish, vegetable stir fry dish with cauliflower, and a spinach paneer dish (my favorite). They were good, but nothing too spectacular. However, the bread really made the meal. We had garlic naan, a puri (puffy bread) and papad (crispy flat bread). They were wonderfully fresh and warm. The papad had a topping of tomatoes and onion (a pico de gallo look), and the puffy bread still had warm steam inside. It is true that sometimes the bread makes the meal. It elevated the meal for us. I'm from a different city and always come to this plaza in Houston to get my eyebrows done next to this place. I was initially sad to see that the restaurant had changed but honestly this vegetarian restaurant's dosa, Thali, golgappa,etc. literally everything was great! The staff and chef are super nice and the place is family owned. They recently opened and is def worth checking out for an authentic experience. Even my dadiji (grandma) from India who hates eating out bc she thinks she makes better food at home would love coming here! I'm surprised this place is still open - I've been here twice, and both times walked away with disbelief on their lack of professionalism and poor food quality. The food is just very very mediocre, if that is your thing. Even a simple item as chaat was just such a disappointment! Plus the prices are not cheap. Just an overall poor experience, and that also twice. Service is non existent. One guy seems to do everything, while the others just stand and watch him. He is making the food, manning the cash register and answering to queries. Just very poorly run! What should be a 10 minute trip will end up taking you 45 minutes, so make sure you clear your calendar when planning to eat here! read more

I went today for lunch and there was no one else in the entire place except for the two workers. The menu is a little bit confusing but the lady let me know that there was a lunch special but didn't get into detail what was all included. The lunch special was $9.99 a little bit pricey but it was very filling. The platter came with 3 vegetarian Curry dishes, rice and a carrot dessert. All in all it was good I just wish there was more guidance on what everything was. I will return but next time I'll take my time to read the menu and order one dish. read more

I am a native Indian, so my taste preferences are more true to how things are in back India and this place nails the home made feeling through simplicity of the curries - none of the curries I tasted were oily. This was my first visit and I enjoyed my food. I had the Vegetable Samosas, Bhindi Marsala and the Aloo Matter. It was all very savory and delectable. My wife ordered the Masala Dosa in which she liked as well. The dosa itself was crispier than what we are used to but still good. We will definitely come back! I was craving chaat and since I live in the area, I called around 4 to place an order for pick up only to be told that the restaurant will reopen at 5pm. Honesty goes long way !!! We ordered mango lassi as one of our dishes and it is extremely sour. The lady @ counter does NOT acknowledge this mistake honestly and kept arguing that it is sweet. Its not just me and 3 other people who dined with me felt the same. First of all we are not ready to order lassi . We were forced to order to a minimum of $10 for Credit Card charge (again to save 60cents to restaurant they made me pay $10+ ). All i wanted is honesty and asking courteously about next steps . When i asked the lady at the counter and she sent sugar to my table to add. Wow !! Lassi is sour taste - It means the yogurt/buttermilk which was used as ingredient is either 1) NOT refrigerated at all or proper way or 2) Stale /age old and not fresh.. 3) Bad Mango sour and/or stale/age old. I dont mind wasting my time to compile this review. Atleast for others they will know what you can expect. read more

I want to leave a better review. What food I got was delicious. However, the waiting made the whole experience less palatable. The restaurant is small and it seems the to go and delivery orders take president. We tried to eat in the restaurant but they were just too busy and missed giving us some of our food. After 30 minutes we had two of the five ordered. After an hour I went back to the front to ask for the rest in to go boxes and they said they didn't realize we hadn't been given all our food. :-( read more

This place was very similar to SWAD in Austin. Gujrati familly making mostly north Indian dishes. Every thing was nice and tasty, but nothing outstanding. We tried the chhole bhature, paneer, daal, aloo parathas and chai. I'd say parathas were the best. well made, definitely not frozen , they took their time to make them. Got a free chai thanks to yelp check in offer. Service was a little slow, but there seemed to be plenty of happy regular lunch customers. Price is very friendly. I have tried their Gujrati Daal, bhindi fry, bengan masala, aloo sabzi, palak, chana masala, aloo tikki chhole, chaat, paani puri and of course pav bhaji...mmm yummy and their pav in pav-bhaji is just like bombay pav... they cater to your spice level which I like because I eat hot food... its run by a gujarati couple who are warm and sweet. Also their lemon shinkaji is refreshing... I go there at least once a week... call them before you go so you don't have to wait long as they make everything fresh to order... and yah the fresh "phulka" chapati... reminds me of my mom's chapati back home...
