When customers are paying around $8 per slice, there should be consistency so everyone receives the same value. Investing in a cake slicer or portioning guide could help solve this issue. I also recently ordered a 6-inch birthday cake for my daughter, and when I received it, it appeared to be barely 5 inches. To the owner's credit, they did reach out to me, acknowledged the issue, and provided a gift card to make things right, which I genuinely appreciated. Good customer service means a lot, and I want to recognize them for addressing my concern. Unfortunately, the replacement cake I ended up purchasing was disappointing. Nobody in my family was particularly happy with it, and the quality just wasn't what we've come to expect. Over the last year especially, it seems like the quality and freshness of the cakes have become inconsistent. Sometimes they're excellent, and other times they taste stale or simply aren't very good. Customer service can also be hit or miss. I've had some positive interactions, but there have also been times when the service felt less than welcoming. I am not writing this review to tear down a local business. In fact, I continue to support them because I know what they're capable of when they're at their best. However, consistency is important. Consistent cake sizes, consistent quality, and consistent customer service would go a long way toward improving the overall experience. I hope this feedback is taken constructively because I'd love to see the shop return to the level of quality that made me a regular customer in the first place.

I will definitely be recommending Sewell when the discussion of cookies comes up, which it frequently does during conversations with me. Service was quick and helpful when we asked about a cookie that we didn't understand. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about but all I wanted was a cookie so no problems there. And today (January 5th, 2021) was their grand opening at their new location, which is in the parking lot of an Office Depot. I ordered a Melon bread, Anpan (a sweet roll with sweet red bean paste inside), a Bacon cheese bread, and a Curry bread. The service was very friendly! The treats were all delicious, but I think my favorites were the Anpan and the Curry bread. The Anpan was soft and the red bean paste tasty with a complex sweetness. The Curry bread was filled with delicious Japanese curry and had a crunchy crust. I am so happy something like this is available in Salem and will be back to try their other offerings soon!

I was 9 days out from my wedding when I called and beginning to panic. She completely put my mind at ease and answered every frantic question I had. Superb cake. Would never look anywhere else. Looked exactly like the photos from the website. I'm glad it's the cake I fed my wife on our wedding day.
