I hired Miracle Man Movers to move me because I am a single mother with fibromyalgia and knew I could not do it myself. When I was setting everything up with David, he was confident that the job could be done or at least mostly done. I told him about the stuff I had at my dad's house and sent pictures. I told him that i had one king bed to take apart. I told him how full my storage units were. I couldn't send pictures the day I talked to him, but I did send them 2 days before the move. He suggested that I have 3 movers. So that one could take apart my bed while the other 2 moved things to the truck. On the day of the move, i had everything ready that I could. I had all of the boxes labeled and as close to the doors as I could. All furniture except my bed were cushioned, wrapped, and ready to move. Both mattresses were in bags and ready to go. I also had a cooler full of cold bottled water for the guys since it was so hot, 101°. The movers arrived 2 hrs and 15 mins later than the estimated window. Which I understand, things happen. However, there were only two movers and not 3. What happened to the 3rd mover??? Before I took my bed apart, I was packing the rest of my stuff and putting it in my van. We were supposed to spend one hour at my dad's house then go to the storage unit. When I noticed it was getting close to time, I asked the guys to take my mattress so I could start taking the bed apart. Thinking they would be done soon and then one of them would take over. That was not the case. I ended up taking the whole bed apart and then reassembling it at my new house. We then got to the storage unit, and the guys said there was no way that they could move all of it. They said they needed another mover. I was very clear when setting this up that my storage units were about 95% and 75% full. Again, I also sent pictures 2 days before the move. One mover began moving stuff while the other got on his phone to get another mover, which took him away from moving things. We focused on my kitchen boxes and my large items. One of the movers said the notes said it would be mainly furniture/big stuff and I would tell them what to move. Those instructions were for my dad's house. Which is what I had talked to David about. I was clear that my storage units needed to be emptied that day so I didn't have to continue paying on them. My stuff ended up being in storage for another 10 days which cost me $120. They did get a third mover towards the end of the time at the storage units. I was also helping the whole time. When we got to my new house they apparently did not know that it had stairs. Which of course was going to make it more difficult and take longer. I told David this during setup. The movers hurriedly unloaded the truck while I put my bed together. They did break some of my boys' bunk bed while hurrying. I cannot use that part of the bed now. The movers were wonderful. Very polite and didn't complain about the heat. If we would have had that 3rd mover from the start the move could have been done less hurried and closer to the 4 hour time limit I had set.
The next weekend, I had to rent a uhaul to move the rest of my stuff. Between Friday and Monday, I spent over 35 grueling hours moving all of my stuff, by myself. Fibromyalgia causes me to have muscle pain all the time and is highly exasperated by physical labor. I feel like I got hit by a truck and I am bruised from head to toe. I broke 4 bookcases and one large cabinet from either them being too tall for the truck or too heavy for me to get it the truck. I was initially supposed to have the truck from Friday at 4pm to Saturday at 4pm, which was $150. I had to extend my rental twice cause i couldn't get it done fast enough. This cost $30 extra per day plus $1/per mile over 30. I haven't gotten my final bill yet but so far it will be $210. It will probably be closer to $300. I also had to call in to work on Sunday night because I still had the truck partially full. Luckily, I have PTO time for that.
I contacted Miracle Man Movers to say that I was unhappy about my move. I got an email saying they were going over my move and would get back to me by the end of the week. That did not happen. I then sent an email detailing what I was unhappy about. They have not responded, nor will they answer my calls. The movers were wonderful. They worked steadily through the super hot day. 2 stars for them. Zero stars for the customer service. I will never use them again and will warn my friends not to either. read more
