Have been going to this restaurant since the day it opened. I remember this restaurant in its glory days when Keith Mitchell was in the kitchen and Douglas ran the restaurant. It was as good as it got. The food was perfect/faultless executed by a chef who certainly knows his way around a chopping board whilst Douglass was a perfect (I mean perfect) restaurant manager. Had nice tools in your hands, nice linen all in all was a fine (very fine) dining experience. Since it's opening it has I believe changed ownership. Too be frank I think they will be very hard pushed to find a chef to equal Keith Mitchell who set standards on its opening that are very difficult to follow. I may just be romancing about the Keith Mitchell and Douglas glory days but I don't think it is as good as it once was. Don't get me wrong not saying anything that would suggest it's bad or don't go there, just saying there was a time when Keith and Douglas ran the show that I just don't think will be equalled let alone be bettered.
None the less, for what you get, "real food" quality ingredients in a nice restaurant I think it's great value for money. I'd like to go more, just don't seem to get to Eastbourne as much as I once did. I do think that the current owners have down marketed the furnishing and glasses etc to pretty poor quality tools. It's always nice to have quality tools in your hands when eating good food.
Star rating...when Keith and Douglas ran the show it was perfect, just perfect class, class experience and would have been 20 stars out of 5. None the less even today would have to say 5. read more
