What a charming little cafe with amazing food! Super IG spot since the decor and food are presented in such a rustic, colorful, beautiful manner. More importantly the food was delicious. Possibly the best tuna sandwich I've had in my entire life. I'm talking sizable chunks with a delicately light sear and fresh raw tartare-like consistency on the interior, covered with a guacamole sprinkled with roasted seeds and fresh oregano sprouts, sitting on a bed of crunchy purple cabbage, sandwiched between a perfectly toasted brioche bun, surrounded with a spread of beet purée. Yeah. Like that.
My friend got the pork cheek sandwich which was consisted of very tender pulled pork marinated in port wine and what tasted a bit like a middle-eastern type spice blend, sprinkled with shaved Parmesan cheese, caramel used purple onions, a slice of crispy bacon, plated over sweet potato purée. So satisfying.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, business was non-stop (considering it's a few blocks from the monastery and there are tons of tourists...not surprising), so food took a bit longer to come out considering the state of busy-ness, but I didn't mind since the brought out some terrific house-made chips for us to snack on prior to serving the food. My friend had a refreshing glass of vinho verde, and they ran out of the kombucha I wanted to try but I got a mocktail instead. If anything I'd say the mocktail was refreshing but felt a bit watered down tho the most minor point in relation to how much we enjoyed the other food. read more
