I embarrassingly will admit it took me a few months to get back to pick them up, and thankfully they still had them waiting in the back. Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. They even had pre-made paint palettes as an option. They also have some pottery pieces and things you can paint and take home the same day, but you can't eat from those items as they don't go thru the kiln. There wasn't a ton of variety in the pottery pieces to choose from, and the prices were a bit high compared to what I've seen in the past. We enjoyed our time. There were only two other parties there so it was very quiet and peaceful. Tip: if you use GPS for directions, it'll point you to the building across from theirs. They're right across from the Russian School. Their sign is a bit hidden. They do have a free parking lot.

I will say that the studio has a very zen and relaxing vibe... until I remembered I was being charged per hour HA. There are stencils and a variety of colors to use for your artwork. I loved the stencil books because they helped so much, especially with the time constraint. When you're done with your piece they estimate about 7 days before it is ready for pickup. The staff were all super kind and helpful and the place itself was kept tidy. Overall, I had a great experience there with my friend and would go again. BONUS: I don't live in the area anymore and my friend dropped the ball on picking up our artwork. I recently went back to visit and since I was right across the street I decided to try my luck and see if my piece was there, and it was! She came in with a vision of paint splattered in quirky colors, and the staff didn't hesitate to get the supplies she would need. They showed her how to splatter paint with a toothbrush to get this fun Jackson Pollock kind of punk style. She was nervous, but everyone was super helpful and reassuring the whole time! She's really happy with how her painting came out, she did a great job! I'm really glad this place is still here, and thriving after all these years. I strolled by with a friend and they had an outdoor display of items along the walk. I perused the tables looking for a small gift. I saw this super cute little face mug - PERFECT! asked a man that was standing at a table nearby if he worked there. He said he didn't, but the woman standing on the stairs did and he hollered up to her. She must have been on the phone via headphones because she came down the stairs talking and when I asked if the items were for sale, she said "Yeah, YOU wouldn't like the price, though" so I replied "Try me, how much is this face mug?" And she said "Like I said, you won't like the price, it's $259 AND the artist only makes them for MY studio and it's VERY expensive because they're one of a kind" I said "okay, cool! Does the artist have IG or TikTok? I'm pretty sure I've seen them somewhere before..." and she straightened up and told me "No! I am the one who has IG and I. RUN. IT." Awesome. So, that was that. I set the mug down and thanked her for her time and left. Here's the thing, her approach was aggressive and assuming - instant turn off. I really wanted the mug, so I tried to diffuse the aggression with a relatable question and it just got worse. In the end, I didn't get the mug. However, I did find one equally as beautiful and fun on Etsy (I knew I'd seen them somewhere) and purchased directly from that artist. The craftswoman's shop is PugandPotter and she has a selection of "one-of-a-kind" face mugs, jars, and flower/plant pots!! I won't be going to Rainbows Pottery Studio again - the whole encounter and experience - absolutely horrid. What a shame. Yet, I was able to find a mug equally as adorable and unique! :)

We were welcomed by Matilda, Margaux, and Molly for our session. After molding, rolling, and shaping my clay, i am still clueless abou what I should create (fret not, they have tons of examples that you can try to replicate). The instructors were all observing our progress keenly. Matilda and Molly gave me feedbacks frequently on how to strengthen my clay. At the middle of the session, my boss say yes to the add paint service.. yay!!! We were then starts to paint our work especially time flies really fast when you do pottery class. At the end of the session we left our work there to dry and Matilda gave us a receipt for pickup our creations. This class really expanded my horizon about art and pottery. While picking what to paint, keep in mind you have around 1.5-2hrs. So plan accordingly! After our painting, they text you within 10 days and you can go pick up your masterpiece. The engines themselves are also very cool and quite a bit larger than i expected. I was surprised as well that there was a little section on the second floor which allows you to see the top view of the engines as well as the steeple. Fair warning that the museum isn't air conditioned except the top levels. You can also join a tour which I believe costs money, but this allows you to go into the engines and explore.
