I even arrived at 3:40 to be early, but there was no one in the receptionist area & the door had a sign that they were helping someone. I waited outside the waiting area. By 3:48, this nurse is on her way out with her water bottle & bag, seemingly ready to leave work. She looked surprised to see me there. When i told her i have an appt at 3:50, she immediately said "your appt was at 3:40 & i think the system already marked you as a no-show". By this point, im pulling up my emails & sure enough, my email says 3:50. So im not sure what she's talking about, if there was a system mixup or if she just wanted to leave. She then says "let me check if we have any flu shots. Im pretty sure we're out". She then goes inside the clinic. By this point im frustrated, because if you're out, then a call would've been nice. After this, i never saw that nurse. A different nice young nurse in pink scrubs & long curly hair came to get me thankfully & i ended up getting my flu shot.

However I…read morecan't help but be frustrated that there's a lack of follow up when we aren't at the clinic My baby needed 2 ultrasound done and when we called to schedule with Radys they only allowed us to have 1 ultrasound done because the second could not be done due to the diagnosis. Apparently the diagnosis wasn't sufficient enough so the Santee clinic had to clarify. Despite our constant follow up nothing was sent from the clinic to radys. We went in and got 1 ultrasound done. Only a day or two after we were approved for the second. We received our bill and we have to pay $750 for the ultrasound and now we have to go back for the 2nd and pay another $750 bill. If we just had gone there and done both scans in 1 visit we could have avoided this. Because of the Lack of follow up from the clinic we have to pay even more out of pocket and more time spent when it should have not happened. I hope scripps understands there are families that don't have the luxury to waste money

If I knew that was going to be the case I would have just scheduled a video call and waited comfortably in my house. Talking to the physician took 5min, not super friendly but like I said maybe my case was straightforward. Everyone else was super friendly and explained everything. They did explain they do have a physician there but it depends on patients needs if they need to see them physically or it could be something over the video call so that is helping everyone kinda move faster but still... waiting time for appointments are an hour. Between walk-ins, limited providers, and the unpredictable nature of healthcare, delays are sometimes unavoidable. This visit was no different. While waiting for my general medical exam, I noticed a steady stream of patients being checked in. At one point, an older couple at the front desk seemed to be having trouble navigating the walk-in process. Peter stepped out of his room repeatedly--at least five times--to help translate and explain the system to them. Despite his efforts, they seemed confused about how to proceed and would repeatedly approach the front whenever a name was called, even when it clearly wasn't theirs. By this point, I was about 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment, and the waiting room was getting busier. Peter calmly explained to the couple that he could only perform the specific TB test they wanted to sign up for, while they were requesting multiple services that the MinuteClinic doesn't even offer. Shortly after, he called my name. As I walked up, I overheard other patients expressing frustration about the wait, with some even canceling their appointments. Meanwhile, Peter just sighed and immediately returned to providing professional, attentive care. During my appointment, he was nothing but kind, focused, and respectful. I had forgotten some required forms for my exam, and he was incredibly understanding--allowing me to quickly run to my car to retrieve them. Patients don't get the care they genuinely need, incompetent people don't do their research, and providers that ARE present become ill-equipped punching bags. It is a constant cycle. TLDR: The minute clinic here is a disaster. I agree with other reviews that it is understaffed and often overbooked (walk-ins are not as simple as they seem). Patients deserve timely, high-quality care, but it's also important to understand the system's limitations. IF YOU are standing there, signing up for a 10-minute TB test, as it was the only appointment available to make online, and then are SHOCKED when the only 1 NP working there tells you they cannot perform the 50-minute appointment you ACTUALLY wanted to have done in that 10-min slot, then YOU are the problem. A few weeks later, I was shocked to receive a bill for $178. I called again to ask about the charge. The receptionist explained the details of my insurance and said they could not know the exact amount until they processed it. So what was the representative telling me before? The receptionist kept repeating the 80 to 20 payment breakdown, which I already understood the first time she said it. She even accused me of cutting her off, when in reality, she was not getting my point. I understood the cost sharing. My issue is that someone gave me the wrong information, which led me to choose this urgent care. If that representative had told me they could not provide an estimate until verifying my full insurance coverage, instead of throwing out a really low number, I would not have been surprised by the bill.
