The coughing progressed into choking, gagging and recently trouble swallowing. After the coughing complaint, I reported random diarrhea, which was dismissed. Then I complained of vomiting. For years my symptoms got worse. Finally the vomiting was so bad, I insisted on seeing a surgeon. The gallstone that was documented on my medical records years prior turned into Chronic Cholecystitis, which can be life threatened. It can also lead to Pancreatic cancer, from which my mother died; she too was undiagnosed for years. Advocate Ravenswood let me suffer for years and harmed my long term health. This is not the only undiagnosed issue. Dr. Mikesell and Dr. Lamaster both dismissed my complaints about cognitive dysfunction for years with repeated complaints from me. The dysfunction now seems to have been caused by seizures. Two head injuries are in my medical records and they dismissed me and never followed up. Negligent or incompetent? Does it matter which? Also I rarely saw Dr. Lamaster. His residents were the only appointments I could get. One told me that I did not need to check my blood sugar... I am diabetic. Another put in my medical records that I had high blood pressure, which is incorrect and caused me problems with the anesthesiologist prior to gallbladder surgery. I have many other more examples of incompetence but individually they do not seem important. However, when a medical practice has consistent mistakes and the residents do not read your chart, they put your life at risk. Chronic Cholecystitis can be life threatening. It inflamed my pancreas and liver.

The building is bright and welcoming, as are the folks working the front desk. I also appreciate how clean it is. Our Doctor, Dr. Serrano, has been absolutely wonderful. From the jump she's always expressed genuine excitement to see us and our baby. We feel so comfortable and confident in her care, she really eases any worries we've had as we navigate parenthood! I've called the help line more than once when I've had questions or concerns and there is always a doctor ready to assist. So far, I'm really impressed with all experiences I've had here and want to thank them for keeping my baby healthy!

On 11/26, the male staff member working in the a.m. appeared to be poorly trained and was unable to locate records, doctor's orders or navigate MyChart, Epic/NorthShoreConnect. I left the facility and made another appointment for 11/28 after contacting my primary care doctor and explaining the incompetence of the Immediate Care staff, they kindly contacted them directly and resubmitted doctor's orders by fax and thru Epic. Upon my return on 11/28, the female staff member at the front desk in the a.m, first name begins with S, was hostile and unwilling or unable to view orders in Epic. Once again while checking in, I involved my doctor's office to assist, orders were resubmitted again, offers to call or fax were communicated and the woman at the front desk continued to deny she could see records or assist. I would never return to this location or recommend. *Please note this review is for the front desk staff at this location and not doctors, PA or nurses.

You can reserve a spot online (which is not an appointment time, but reduces your waiting time in the lobby.) I like these things. Let's talk about the providers. They're thorough and really nice. They make me feel as comfortable as I can in an uncomfortable setting. I've been here several times and had the same experience with different providers.

I then went to a different Midwest Express and was told I needed a thumb splint and had trigger thumb to wear the splint during the day. I was given wrong diagnosis and treatment at this Midwest Express clinic. Later found out this practitioner was fired for his social media posts. Disappointed to find out this practice doesn't care if the practitioner gives proper care. They keep their job when they do that but if they post something online in their free time expressing a personal opinion of theirs they lose their job. To be clear I don't think this man should have lost his job for misdiagnosing me but it's disheartening to learn he was fired for nothing pertaining to his job performance. It shows what is and isn't important to the clinic. And it's not the patient.

When I googled the "Doctor's" name, I saw him listed as a physician's assistant. I came here to see a Doctor, not a physician's assistant that prescribed the wrong medication! very deceptive and dishonest, and does not provide the correct care. Update 12/17/25. Also want to mention that when i came back the next day to verify the prescription with an actual doctor, the Nurse Practitioner looked up the records and saw that Mr. Stagg also logged in the case incorrectly as "Laryngitis", even though the test results showed Pneumonia. the Nurse than gave me a different prescription from what fake "doctor" Stagg prescribed. Do not go to this place if you value honestly and actual correct health care. Update 12/19/25 - turns out my child might be allergic (itchy and slight rash) to the medicine that was prescribed. I called in, and a different Physician's Assistant said, "oh if its an actual allergic reaction we are not equipped to deal with that. You should just go to the emergency room" WTF! this place is a joke not an actual Dr's office. Since there are no actual Doctors that actually work at this clinic. All you get are PAs and Nurses masquerading as Doctors. STAY AWAY from this fraudulent place.

The nurse practitioner that I saw at this location was completely dismissive and barely looked at me during my visit/consultation. She diagnosed me with a cold before even looking at me. She examined me briefly and told me that even if I had a sinus infection she couldn't help me. I am seen semi-regularly by an ear nose and throat doctor for my sinus infections. Funny that he treats my sinus infections with antibiotics and so have the other doctors that I've seen when I've had them. Then she asked me about the flu shot. I said I broke out in a rash and had a headache for 3 days the last time I got a flu shot. She proceeded to say that all vaccines are made basically the same way, so if I was ever vaccinated for anything else without an issue that I couldn't possibly have a reaction to the flu shot. Needless to say, I went to Peterson Urgent Care after I left and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and was prescribed an antibiotic. After speaking to friends in the medical field, I also found out that people can have reactions to specific vaccines. Basically I had to make 2 medical appointments last week to get my problem resolved. I called Take Care Clinic immediately after my appointment to complain. They assured me that they would have a manager call me within 24 hours. This was on Wednesday... I had to call back today to see why a manager still hasn't called me. I was told that my complaint wasn't processed properly and that they had to re submit it. How aggravating. If you're sick... save yourself some time as well as money, and go to your primary care physician or to an urgent care facility.

Nurse practitioner Michelle was very professional and extremely helpful. She was also very nice, answered all of my questions, and allayed my anxiety -- great "bedside manner." My ears had not been "professionally" cleaned in over 30 yrs., so the ear cleaning process was uncomfortable, to say the least. Michelle managed to get the job done w/ as little trauma as possible. She prescribed antibiotic ear drops to ward off infection, which I conveniently purchased at the Walgreen's pharmacy. My ears immediately felt better after treatment. I can hear again! Take Care Clinic is a relatively affordable, convenient option to going to a primary care physician for minor medical issues, particularly if you are uninsured. You can even schedule an appointment online.
