I was ill last week and stopped by the take care clinic because I have a history of getting very bad sinus infections. The nurse practitioner that I saw at this location was completely dismissive and barely looked at me during my visit/consultation. She diagnosed me with a cold before even looking at me. She examined me briefly and told me that even if I had a sinus infection she couldn't help me. I am seen semi-regularly by an ear nose and throat doctor for my sinus infections. Funny that he treats my sinus infections with antibiotics and so have the other doctors that I've seen when I've had them. Then she asked me about the flu shot. I said I broke out in a rash and had a headache for 3 days the last time I got a flu shot. She proceeded to say that all vaccines are made basically the same way, so if I was ever vaccinated for anything else without an issue that I couldn't possibly have a reaction to the flu shot. Needless to say, I went to Peterson Urgent Care after I left and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and was prescribed an antibiotic. After speaking to friends in the medical field, I also found out that people can have reactions to specific vaccines. Basically I had to make 2 medical appointments last week to get my problem resolved. I called Take Care Clinic immediately after my appointment to complain. They assured me that they would have a manager call me within 24 hours. This was on Wednesday... I had to call back today to see why a manager still hasn't called me. I was told that my complaint wasn't processed properly and that they had to re submit it. How aggravating. If you're sick... save yourself some time as well as money, and go to your primary care physician or to an urgent care facility. read more

I went to the Edgewater Take Care Clinic as an uninsured walk-in patient w/ swimmer's ear symptoms. Must have been good timing because I waited for only 5 min. before being seen. Nurse practitioner Michelle was very professional and extremely helpful. She was also very nice, answered all of my questions, and allayed my anxiety -- great "bedside manner." My ears had not been "professionally" cleaned in over 30 yrs., so the ear cleaning process was uncomfortable, to say the least. Michelle managed to get the job done w/ as little trauma as possible. She prescribed antibiotic ear drops to ward off infection, which I conveniently purchased at the Walgreen's pharmacy. My ears immediately felt better after treatment. I can hear again! Take Care Clinic is a relatively affordable, convenient option to going to a primary care physician for minor medical issues, particularly if you are uninsured. It sure would make me feel a lot better if the girl taking my information wasn't coming in and out of the exam room using her phone on speaker, sitting with a fellow employee, with an open pizza box sitting on the actual exam table. A little professionalism in a health setting would go a long way. Maybe at least not have your phone on speaker and take your lunch OUT of the exam room?! I have to clarify that this does not reflect the actual pharmacy. I've used the pharmacy before several times and they are ALWAYS very helpful, efficient, and professional. read more

Don't bother. Wast of time and money. I had a serious sinus infection. I was told I had a cold. I know the difference between a cold and something more serious. Moreover, I have had sinus infections before and I know what they feel like. The Nurse Practitioner listened to me for about 20 seconds, and then she pronounced that I had a cold. She wanted to recommend an over-the-counter medication. I needed something stronger and more effective. That was why I went to her in the first place. Moreover, I am capable of picking out an o-t-c medication on my own. If the NP cannot prescribe anything more than o-t-c medication, what is the point of going to one of these clinics. Save your money or go to a walk-in clinic with a doctor who can prescribe something stronger and more effective. In sum, I would not recommend these clinics as an alternative to going to a doctor. In fact, I ended up going to a real doctor for my illness. After a thorough examination, she prescribed me antibiotics because she was concerned that my sinus infection could become pneumonia. The doctor charged the same as the Nurse Practitioner. When I first read about these "walk-in" clinics, I thought they were a great idea. Upon further scrutiny, I would not recommend them. I am very disappointed about the way I was [not] treated by this clinic. I did not catch the person's name that saw me in the lobby for less than 5 minutes, but she did not even try to assess my illness. I arrived 15 minutes before the clinic opened because I wanted to make sure I didn't have to wait in line (they weren't taking appts. on Sunday). She told me the clinic wasn't open and I acknowledged and said I would wait. She appeared put off and put her bag down and asked what was wrong. I said I had symptoms of food poisoning throughout the night and I was there because my stomach was cramping, but I was no longer vomiting etc. She then told me, "we don't treat that. You need to go to the emergency room or another clinic. If you've been vomiting for over 24hrs that's serious and I can't see you.' I told her I said NOTHING about vomiting for 24hrs, in fact, I had stopped 6hrs prior to coming to the clinic but my stomach was still cramping. She then said, "well it's the same thing, less than 24 hrs too. It's my clinical judgment not to see you because you could need a CT scan and surgery." At this point I was very upset, crying because I was in pain and angry because who said anything about fucking surgery. I explained my fiance had food poisoning the night before and his Dr. gave him anti-nausea medicine to stop the stomach cramping and that's what I was there for. She dismissed me again and gave me a referral list to a clinic that was SIX MILES AWAY! Ridiculous! Plus I just read on their website that the take care clinic DOES TREAT symptoms of food poisoning (Diarrhea, Nausea and Vomiting) and it advises the following: Visit a Take Care Health Provider if you experience that nausea lasts for more than a few days.... mine was less than 12hrs. Dejected, I decided to buy some OTC medicine, and my fiance shared his medicine with me. I'm doing better now... NO CT SCAN or SURGERY needed. Thanks for nothing. read more

My experience with this company and location has been nothing but frustrating and aggravating. I am trying to work with them to get my visits and costs reimbursed by my insurance company and they have not provided me with the documents I have requested. I have gone in, I have called, I have emailed and no one will help me. NOTHING is simple. I have called customer service several times and every time the agent was very rude and short with me. No one has tried to solve my issue. I will NEVER be using their services again. read more

This walkin clinic is very quick and efficient! I often get strep throat and I'm always seen asap and diagnosed positive or negative! They have even sent out cultures to be sure I didn't have a different strain of strep. I'm glad there is always someone there to help tell me my wait time. And the Nurse Practitioners are always super nice and friendly! Definitely recommend their services to anyone who needs quick attention for an illness. read more

Clinic was great. Didn't even know it was here. Came at 8am on Wednesday with a bad uti and there was no waiting. You can book appointments ahead of time too. Physician was very nice and took the time to explain my options. read more
