This was a really unique experience! Everything inside is made of ice, including the glasses you drink out of. It's such a cool little spot to checkout while in the city. You have to make a reservation online to avoid a wait and make sure you get in. You can also find a coupon online if you search in Google! Make sure to do that. They provide you with the thermal jackets and the boots too. The drinks once you're inside are cheap as well and very fruit and yummy! I think a bit watered down though, barely any alcohol. But drinks aside, 'cool' experience!

I'm definitely a fan of this bar! How much cooler can it get than a bar completely made of ice? Pun intended lol But seriously, it was a great experience. From the bar counter to the furniture to the cups, EVERYTHING WAS MADE FROM ICE! Because it is so cold, you are required to wear a complete snow suit (which they provide). Also, you are only allowed to stay inside for a maximum of 30 minutes because of it being so cold. The ticket included a drink and I got a peach drink which was super good. They were blasting the music and had colored lights shining so it was a great time.

To be honest, I was extremely excited to have this ice bar experience with my group of friends, and I was extremely let down. We were a group of 8 people so I booked us one week ahead. The company was pretty good with contact with me through the booking process as I confirmed the date and number of people. I arrived four days earlier than my friends, who had arrived the day of our ice bar experience. I went to the ice bar and my friend ended up not being able to make our booking until the last ten minutes. I asked them if we could still go in and they said we would only get the last ten minutes inside, and that we couldn't get the full thirty minute experience. First off, when I booked, there was nowhere on the site that said it was a thirty minute experience. I expected you could stay as long as you want, not be rushed through the experience. You'd think thirty minutes may be enough, but inside we were rushing around. So we had to rebook our experience for later that night, changing our 8pm reservation to 10:30 on a night where bars all closed at midnight. So we weren't able to go out for too long afterwards, even though this was supposed to be our pregame. They took a while to get us all in our coats and gloves (which you need to hold the glasses otherwise they melt through your hands and drop). When we finally got inside the ice bar, it was smaller than I expected. We were a group of eight with another few groups each of 3, 5, and 5 so it was extra packed. It was a struggle to walk around and we had to wait to take photos with the sculptures. We were constantly bumping into the other groups and we could only all fit on the couch, though most slide off because there were only a few mats. It was not as cold as I expected, and I took off my jacket at a few moments. The thirty minutes was over as soon as it started and they were basically pushing us out of the door towards the end. The employees were quite rude and clearly did not enjoy their jobs, and showed through how little they cared about the customers. The drinks tasted good, but were low on alcohol. I bought two, and although I don't remember exactly which drinks I got, there were all of our friends favorites. It's an experience, it's cool to be in an ice bar, but the experience wasn't really good. For 36 dollars, I expected more than two watered down cocktails and a rushed ice bar experience. Maybe Below Zero would give a better experience, though I can't guarantee.

This was a cool experience! The bar was nice inside, but rather small. The drinks were good! You can only stay about 20-30 minutes which is fine since it's so cold. I wish the gloves they gave you were warmer, but other than that, it was great!

Great drinks, perfect temp -8 degrees!!

The interior was rustic, spacious, with a warm and comforting ambiance. I wanted to try a little of everything, so ordered the Flame Mixed Grill ($67 NZ), which consisted of famous Ribs, grilled Sirloin Steak, Boerewors Sausage, rotisserie Peri Peri Chicken, along with roasted baby potatoes with sour cream. This took awhile to come out, but it was worth it! Ribs were sticky in a bold, smoky, tangy, savory BBQ sauce. The meat was delightfully tender. Steak was cooked perfectly, succulent, and well seasoned. Sausage was slightly charred and quite juicy, paired wonderfully with flavorful chimichurri. Chicken was not really my favorite, as I found it lacked flavor and was a bit dry. Potatoes were soft and pillowy that worked nicely with the creamy sour cream, but only 3 small ones. Service was solid. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was tasty and it was a lovely, hearty feast of a dinner!

Main course was Venison loin. I can't say enough about how good the food was. Epic cheese platter with a Kiwi dessert red to pair for dessert. Our waiter, Sam, was everything you would want in a server. Knowledgeable, helpful, and gracious. It's a large place. We sat in leather upholstered wingback chairs -- very comfortable. My only criticism is that there isn't one in the U.S.

I ordered the French onion soup for an entree, the venison for the main plus the duck fat potatoes. Hands down the French onion soup was the most delicious thing I had all night, and probably in my two weeks in New Zealand. It was fantastic. The venison came out. Great presentation. But even with the sauces that it came with--the exception being the *two* bits of onion that came with the meal--it was very average. Not bad. It was cooked well. Rare as the chef suggested. But there was little there there. Definitely not as flavorsome as the French onion soup which set my expectations really high. Then the duck fat potatoes--are just potatoes? Like, literally chucks of potatoes (cooked well) but without any seasoning. No sauce. Nothing. Very bland potatoes. So in the end you had this really clunky meal that wasn't overwhelmingly delicious. It was just good. But this is meant to be a bit of an upscale joint for Queenstown, so it misses the mark. The exception to all of this mediocrity was the service. The service was impeccable. I should note there was a bit of time between the starter & the main but that's probably more of a back of the house issue. They do know how to cook things well, so I think if you come here for a steak, you probably won't be terribly disappointed. I expected a bit more. All that said, I would come back and drink gallons of that soup.
