When in Queenstown... This place is known for their ice bars, so I knew I had to try one of them. This one was under $30 for 1 hour experience, including 2 drinks (mocktails available), jackets and gloves. The exterior was cute with a huge, adorable furry polar bear in front. We were fitted for our jackets, given a short tutorial, then it was time to enter the icy wonderland. The interior was a bit smaller than expected, but it was impressive, as the whole space was made out of ice and bathed in colorful lighting. There were also quite a few elaborate ice sculptures, mostly of animals, such as a life size horse, eagle, penguin, and more. There were also several ice chairs and benches, with fur on top, indicating they could be sit on. Since I was only getting mocktails, I was able to select 4 drinks. Bartender was welcoming and wonderful. The drinks were made in front of you and poured into a cup made of ice, which could be smashed afterwards. The mocktails consisted of flavors such as Apple, Pineapple, Kiwifruit and Pineapple, Lime, Coconut. They were sweet, fruity, and refreshing. We stayed the full hour, until the song "Ice Ice Baby" was played. It was nice to be there the whole time, because toward the end there were only a couple of us, which made for much better photos! A fun little experience if you are in Queenstown! I liked that it was family friendly, the kids enjoyed their time there, until they got too cold! It's a small bar, but there are not a lot of groups at one time so you have room to move around and take photos. The drinks are ok, pricey for what they are but you're paying for the experience. The staff gives you gloves and jackets to wear and I stayed plenty warm. The music and the lights are a fun touch and you can feel free to touch all of the sculptures. If you've never done an ice bar, this is a good one to check out. read more

This was a really unique experience! Everything inside is made of ice, including the glasses you drink out of. It's such a cool little spot to checkout while in the city. You have to make a reservation online to avoid a wait and make sure you get in. You can also find a coupon online if you search in Google! Make sure to do that. They provide you with the thermal jackets and the boots too. The drinks once you're inside are cheap as well and very fruit and yummy! I think a bit watered down though, barely any alcohol. I'm definitely a fan of this bar! How much cooler can it get than a bar completely made of ice? Pun intended lol But seriously, it was a great experience. From the bar counter to the furniture to the cups, EVERYTHING WAS MADE FROM ICE! Because it is so cold, you are required to wear a complete snow suit (which they provide). Also, you are only allowed to stay inside for a maximum of 30 minutes because of it being so cold. The ticket included a drink and I got a peach drink which was super good. They were blasting the music and had colored lights shining so it was a great time. read more

To be honest, I was extremely excited to have this ice bar experience with my group of friends, and I was extremely let down. We were a group of 8 people so I booked us one week ahead. The company was pretty good with contact with me through the booking process as I confirmed the date and number of people. I arrived four days earlier than my friends, who had arrived the day of our ice bar experience. I went to the ice bar and my friend ended up not being able to make our booking until the last ten minutes. I asked them if we could still go in and they said we would only get the last ten minutes inside, and that we couldn't get the full thirty minute experience. First off, when I booked, there was nowhere on the site that said it was a thirty minute experience. I expected you could stay as long as you want, not be rushed through the experience. You'd think thirty minutes may be enough, but inside we were rushing around. So we had to rebook our experience for later that night, changing our 8pm reservation to 10:30 on a night where bars all closed at midnight. So we weren't able to go out for too long afterwards, even though this was supposed to be our pregame. They took a while to get us all in our coats and gloves (which you need to hold the glasses otherwise they melt through your hands and drop). When we finally got inside the ice bar, it was smaller than I expected. We were a group of eight with another few groups each of 3, 5, and 5 so it was extra packed. It was a struggle to walk around and we had to wait to take photos with the sculptures. We were constantly bumping into the other groups and we could only all fit on the couch, though most slide off because there were only a few mats. It was not as cold as I expected, and I took off my jacket at a few moments. The thirty minutes was over as soon as it started and they were basically pushing us out of the door towards the end. The employees were quite rude and clearly did not enjoy their jobs, and showed through how little they cared about the customers. The drinks tasted good, but were low on alcohol. I bought two, and although I don't remember exactly which drinks I got, there were all of our friends favorites. It's an experience, it's cool to be in an ice bar, but the experience wasn't really good. For 36 dollars, I expected more than two watered down cocktails and a rushed ice bar experience. Maybe Below Zero would give a better experience, though I can't guarantee. read more

This was a cool experience! The bar was nice inside, but rather small. The drinks were good! You can only stay about 20-30 minutes which is fine since it's so cold. I wish the gloves they gave you were warmer, but other than that, it was great! read more

Good a good deal on the BookMe website. Otherwise its pretty expensive. They give you a parka, fur boots, and gloves. The ice carvings are pretty awesome. Really tasty drinks (though a bit light on the booze and high on the sugar) actually and cool that they are served in ice cups. I recommend the shots! There is plenty of time to take pictures and they don't hurry you out. read more

Great idea but poorly run. We arrived and brought two adult tickets with 2 cocktails which was close to $80. We lined up after eventually getting jackets. We were with another 13 or so people. All was good until we went in and realised the bar was way too small for the amount of people. You only get 30mins in the bar and it took us 20 mins lining up to get our first drink. There was only one person serving and way to many people in the bar at once. We then had to rush to get our second drink right at the end of half hr. We didn't get to sit or enjoy our drinks like we should have. They need to cap it at 10 people and have more than 1 bar staff. Waste of $80 and was not enjoyable! We came here as it was recommended to us over the other ice bar in the area. Overall, it is a touristy thing. Once you've done it, you probably don't want to do it again. The staff was very nice and not pushy at all. I was hoping for coats that were a little more fun- like a faux fur coat or something, not a coat that was sponsored by a vodka company. The actual experience was cool and seeing the ice sculptures inside was really neat. They have some really cool looking ones. The loss of the star was because of the actual bar selection. They only offer really sweet drinks (yuck!)- give people some options. Also, you can only get vodka- please branch out! And to make it worse- it's Absolut vodka, for $30 for a drink, I'd hope for something of quality like a Kettle One or Grey Goose. Finally, make sure you go around town and you can often find $5 off a ticket on city maps! read more

The drinks were tasty and the staff were delightful, but when we visited - at 10pm on a Saturday night, we were the only ones there! As much as it was nice to have the place completely to ourselves (no one to photobomb the ice bar selfies) it was a bit odd. This place is just for experience. First, you can't just walk in. They have shifts every 30 minutes when they allow a group of people. Secondly, it's going to cost you minimum $20 NZ to go in. If you pay a little extra then you will get juice cocktails and juice shots making you wonder if alcohol even exist in their hidden cold world or not. It's a place to go experience a few minutes surrounded by Ice and hopefully good company. Take pictures and earn some bragging rights (may be). read more

We tried this ice bar after canceling our booking with the competition in town after hearing from a local that this one was much better. It's apparently more than twice the size and has no time limit. The girl working there was really nice and the photo booth is fun. I'd say splash out for the white 'fur' coats for $10.
