John at Minte is AWESOME!!! I've been to this business once before when their location was at Tyson's mall. My experience then was just as awesome as this time around at their new suite. I recently thought about going back for a refresh and fortunately their new spot wasn't to far from me. With just an hour appointment, you walk in with a dull smile and out with pearly whites! In my personal experience, the results are indisputable and worth every penny! This new location is inside an unmarked business tower in Arlington proper, in one of those salon suites with a different small businesses in each door. Not hard to find but awfully cozy! I am new to the DMV area and only chose this place for a teeth whitening service because my friend said she had gone before. I do not play about my teeth/ health/ hygiene AT ALL! And that is the reason I am advising you to steer clear of this place. First off, it is the middle of flu season and the hygienist (John) did not have a mask on even though my mouth was wide open (obviously) during this entire service. He was talking to me while applying the whitening treatment, and all I could think about was how many saliva particles were likely being transmitted smh. Then, to make matters worse, he re-used the same gloves after each whitening application(there are three applications in the service); like, gloves cannot be that expensive my guy- smh!! When everything was said and done and the treatment was complete, my bottom gums were white, and he told me that it was just residue from the whitening solution and that it would be gone by the morning. Well, in the morning, the white residue turned into burns; yes, my gums were burnt AND BLEEDING!! I texted their office to bring this to their attention, and as you can see in the message, all they could say to me was "this is normal, it happens a lot, and 'I'm sorry this happened to you.'" I've had my teeth whitened in the past and usually, hygienists apply a barrier to your gums before applying the whitening treatment to avoid these kind of reactions and sensitivities. Nova Teeth Whitening is located in the Sola building, along with other small businesses. I showed up some minutes early but she was okay with this and just asked if I would like to make myself comfortable and watch some Netflix. I was scheduled for the 60 minute long whitening appointment, which was broken into 3 20 minute sessions. The entire experience was quite comfortable, except some sensitivity that I dealt with a few minutes after the bleach solution was added on my teeth (especially in the areas closest to my gum). After the procedure, I noticed that my teeth went about 5/6 shades whiter and I felt satisfied with my results! Note that the bleaching solution can only enable your teeth become as light as it's natural color. Coming in, I didn't know what to expect since this was the first time I have ever gotten my teeth whitened, and the process was easy and quite comfortable. She asked me what I wanted to listen to and put on Pandora specific to my request. The chemicals used to brightened the teeth are natural and organic according to the website. There is a 15% discount for first-timers. And they also do teeth gems. She showed me the scale to show me that my teeth had went up 5 shades in very little time. She also too before after pictures so I could see my results. This is key maintenance for people like myself who are expresso and red wine drinkers. Let me first start by saying how ADORABLE Briana and her space are! My appointment for a one hour teeth whitening and tooth gem application went so smoothly. I must mention--this is the first time I've had my teeth whitened. I didn't know what to expect, but Briana explained everything in detail as she went along. The appointment began with her showing me a chart with various tooth shades. She explained to me that each person is different and that lightening results can vary between 5 to 14 shades lighter. She then gave me a pair of goggles to protect my eyes from the light, and after laying back in the chair she applied vitamin E to my lips and gums to protect them. She then applied the gel and focused the light on my teeth for three 20 minute sessions. After each session, I rinsed with water and started again. At the end of the process, I discovered that my teeth were six shades lighter!! There will be some white stains on your gums, but those all fade within half an hour, so don't worry! After the whitening process, she prepped my tooth for the gem. She has small, medium and large Swarovski crystals for you to choose from. Mine is medium and I LOVE it!!!!!!! It is now two hours after my appointment and I am starting to experience sensitivity. Nothing an aspirin can't fix! I've been complimented on my smile twice already and my family and friends love it. Made an appointment a week in advance for a teeth whitening session. I called the store because I was going to be there early to see if they could accommodate me 30 minutes early they said yes. I ended up getting there only 10 minutes before my appointment, the lady was nice- she got me set up only to come back to tell me they ran out of sunglasses and I'd have to wait until someone else was done before I could start...so that meant 20 minutes after my original appointment was for. Prior to my appointment, I was a bit nervous because I've heard mixed reviews about getting your teeth whitened but Briana answered every question and calmed every fear.
