This used to be my go to nail salon. I live very close and always had a great experience. Like another reviewer mentioned I notice during My previous visit I didn't recognized anyone. The dip mani was ok. I decided to go back to get a pedi and dip again. I again didn't recognized anyone and I felt completely rushed. (Pedi and dip with removal in just over a hour for both) the tech was filing so aggressively and quickly she took the top layer of skin off my finger tip. No apology. Then proceeded to file the nail again. the dip application was very sloppy and all over my fingers. No offer to clean it off. Can't believe they would let me walk out like this. They hand wrote the receipt. Did not say Mint on it. Sad to say I will not be patronizing this salon again. read more

I took my 6 year old to get mani/pedis for her birthday. Don did my pedi and Lana did our nails and her pedi. My daughter is a very energetic, inquisitive little girl and Lana was so incredibly patient with her. She explained everything and was great at giving her directions and was so kind the whole time. She was soooo meticulous for my gel manicure and made sure that my French tips were just how I wanted them. I don't hardly ever get my nails done back home (NC) because I always feel so rushed when they are shaping my nail, and I never feel like they get the tips the way I like them but this was NOT the case with Lana. She took her time and got my nails perfect! She did such a good job I'm going to come get my nails done by her every time we visit my in-laws in Columbus thank you Lana and Don!! read more

This review is being posted about a week after my first trip to the salon. I've learned to wait at least that long before posting salon reviews, just to make sure the polish stands the test of time. So far, so good. As others have said, Mint Nails has a bit of a spa vibe. It's very clean. The employees are friendly. The color selection is comparable to what you'll find at the salon across the street. I opted for a regular pedicure and a basic gel polish manicure, and after tip, my bill was still around $10 cheaper than it usually is for the same services at the other place. Not only that, but the manicure included a hand massage, which is something I've never received at the other place. My only regret is that I didn't try this place soon. Update, 04/29/18: I had my second visit to Mint Nails yesterday and I want to bang my head against the wall. I went for a regular pedicure and a gel manicure. Everything was almost done, when a lady approached the technician who was doing my nails. They were speaking in their native language. My technician got up and left, and the other lady sat down. She asked if I had time for her to correct something. Aside from the polish on my right thumb looking like it needed corrected, I didn't see a problem. The lady proceeded to use a nail file to buff the polish on every nail, just like they do when they're removing polish. She didn't completely remove it; she basically made it look matte and then repainted all of my nails. When she finished, I asked her why she did it and she explained that the other tech hadn't applied the polish all the way down to my cuticles. I left there appreciative of their attention to detail. By last evening, the polish on my right thumb was peeling, so I went back this morning. The tech who originally did my nails yesterday explained that the polish peeled because the light must not have hit the edges of my nail properly. She graciously fixed it and I paid close attention to how my hand laid under the drying light. It's now early evening and the polish is peeling, again. I'm incredibly frustrated, but I don't have the time or interest in going back for another repair. I'm not new to gel manicures and problems like these don't happen at every salon. I came in at 10am on a Saturday, and by the time I left it was busy busy busy! I went in for a dip powder manicure--i noticed that I could still see my nail THROUGH the polish and the technician said that a thin layer was good for the nails--it started chipping the same day. They didn't use enough of the polish, my cuticles are different shapes (look scraggly), the top coat has bubbles and is peeling off. I went into the shop to show them. Offered to wait a reasonable time and was told to wait 3-4hrs or come back another day. I'll include pictures of how my nails look after only 3 days (I don't use my hands for work or anything so there's nothing I could've done to contribute to this). They didn't do a good job and their manager wasn't willing to fix it. I won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Wish I could give ZERO stars! Before going in, I called to make sure they were able to create the nail look I wanted. The MANAGER said yes. When I went in, I showed them a picture of what I wanted. Again, they once said they could do it. A few minutes in, I could already tell it wasn't going well, so I wanted to STOP and just PAY for what I currently had done. The nail tech and the manager kept reassuring me that they could do it and it will turn out good WHEN THEY ARE DONE, so I let the lady finish. Before full completion, I spoke to the manager and showed her the AIR BUBBLES on my nails. AGAIN, she said it could be FIXED with one extra layer of polish. I told her I wasn't interested because they've been saying that since the beginning and it keeps getting WORSE. In front of EVERYONE, she said she didn't care because it would be UNFAIR to the nail tech. I reminded her of how they both kept telling me they can do the nail design I showed them and how it turned out nothing like the picture. The MANAGER told me there is NOTHING she can do about it and I had to pay for the full set I have been a LOYAL customer since they first opened. A co-worker first turned me on to Mint Nails before I retired. I really liked the sanitation aspect of their salon, even before Covid. Today, thought I would go today and treat myself to the basic $35.00 pedicure. I know that they are more expensive than many, but the quality is great. WHOA! Awhy was my technician. He's from Viet Nam and has been here 14 years. His English is rough and it was difficult for me to understand. HOWEVER, he is slick enough to add on many extras without telling me or by implying that they were part of the package. When he asked me if I wanted flowers painted on my big toes, I directly asked him how much extra it would be, he said "nothing more." When I went to check out and pay my $35.00 bill, I presented with one for $58.00 + the tip!!! Far more than I can afford. He also kept pushing me to pay cash with the incentive that it would take 5% off my bill. Who is he scamming? The salon owners???? I decided to give anyone who goes there, fair warning to beware of the snake in the grass. I will be contacting the owners and letting them know what happened. This is my regular salon - I used to love it. Today I had an appt. to get a bridal mani. The men employees were pushy while I was selecting a color. Derek did my mani - he was busy checking his I watch during the mani - He never spoke during the process. He held my thumb so tightly that it hurt. When I was done I noticed that he missed a spot in the middle of a nail. It felt like an express manicure service! I had to ask a female tech to look at it and repair it. This was after I paid for and tipped Derek. He did not even acknowledge it. I am done with Mint nails. Not a relaxing experience at all. Do not use Mint - things have changed. read more

I have tried lots of different nail salons in Columbus, and this is the only place I would recommend. I read something about high prices and I don't think that is the case here at all. I have paid $120 for mani-pedi at CK nails so anything less than that was great for me. Le is usually my nail tech and does a great job. I have long natural nails and wanted to do the coffin shape for them, but Le warned me that gel wouldn't protect them as much. I have had problem with dip being too thick in the past, so I still opted to do gel. Seeing as I have natural nails and I'm a bartender, I would break my nails so often. But when I came in to get them fixed Le was sitting there saying "I told you so" (ha!) and offered to fix them at no charge. He told me most people don't like doing coffin shape on natural nails because it weakens them and makes them more fragile. I trusted him to do dip and asked him to make them a natural color and he delivered!! They are so thin, have never broken, and are growing out so well. This is the only nail salon I will ever go to in Columbus again. read more

I am so fed up with this place. Every time I go there's an issue. After waiting for 30 minutes passed my appointment time I asked them how much longer it was to be and they told me 15 minutes. After asking what the point of having an appointment was they said that they had walk ins so they were busy. They had no intention of honoring my appointment time. Within the last few weeks, I've walked in to get my toes and nails done on separate occasions. Despite being a walk-in, I didn't wait any longer than 5 minutes each time. My toes were just regular polish, but have still lasted well over 2 weeks. The pedicure was incredibly relaxing, including a great foot and leg massage. They do have a clean salon & the workers are very nice. However within 3 days of getting a dip powder manicure, it is cracking & chipping. I came in to get a mani & pedi because the shop I normally go to was booked up. The pedi was fine.. but after paying 100+ dollars for both services I shouldn't have anything chipping within 3 days. I did notice what looked like a crack in the dip powder shortly after leaving but it was small so I figured it would be ok. Instead it's continually getting worse. read more

My friend and I made 6pm appointments for pedicures tonight. However apparently that did not matter. They were almost done with her pedicure and had began the applying her polish before they attempted to start mine which was at least 30minutes. We made the appointment because we were on a tight schedule and I did not have another 30-40 minutes for them to start and finish my pedicure after already waiting 30ish minutes. So, I was forced to walk away without getting my toes done. I understand if it was 5-10 minutes but I feel 30 minutes before even acknowledging me is unacceptable. I thought maybe they would offer a discount for me to come back, but nope, nothing. I doubt I will be back after tonight. read more

I have been going to mint nails for about 7 months now. I have gotten my nails done by almost all of the different technicians there and always left feeling happy with my nails. I never once had a problem until I got Tai. The first time he did my nails they looked grown out and the gel started peeling after about a week. When I went to get them done again about a week and a half later I got Tai again. I thought I would give him another chance and explained why I was unhappy the last time. This time my nails look just as grown out and I told him that and he kept making excuses and being rude to me. After I left I sat in my car and cried before I drove home. I have been visiting this salon for a few years now and I have always had a great experience. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. Today I had a pedicure and manicure from Jenny and she did a wonderful job as usual. She was very thorough and the polish was applied perfectly. It was truly a relaxing visit. As far as COVID, the salon is clean and the precautions they take make me feel safe. I get gel manicures and pedicures there and it's always a peaceful relaxing experience. Everyone is friendly and the place is so tidy and clean. I'm impressed with the way the owner makes sure you don't have a long wait. It's advisable to get an appointment because after 2pm can be busy and Saturdays of course. My husband and I get pedicures a few times each year. Today was our first visit to Mint Nails based on recommendations posted to the Clintonville Facebook group. We had the best pedicures and now understand why it comes so highly recommended on the neighborhood group. We had the Gentleman's hydrating pedicures with paraffin wax treatment. I'll start with the negatives because there are few- SO expensive and took way too long! This establishment is always very clean, the staff are friendly, and it is a relaxing environment. Things to note during the pandemic- there are plexiglass barriers between you and the technician, you are required to make an appointment, wear a mask, and wash your hands. All the staff were wearing masks as well, which made me feel very comfortable. Overall, my dip nail turned out great! I didn't have to wait, I got there on time and they got me in promptly, which I appreciated. Despite that, it took 80 minutes total just for dip nail and was $49 before tip! (This is just the basic dip nail- WITHOUT a manicure, extensions, or shaping). Overall I'm very satisfied with how the dip turned out, but I probably won't go back because of the price. read more

However, $40 for a VERY basic gel manicure at a place like this is absurd. Went in Saturday afternoon to get a gel manicure and the nail tech that did my manicure cut the skin on 2 of my fingers and now 3 days later my fingers are still in pain. She also couldn't get my polish even so she put 5 coats of the gel polish during my manicure. My nails look fake because the polish is so thick and I'm very disappointed. The dry skin wasn't even removed during my manicure. This is the 2nd time that I have visited this salon because it's close to where I live. I will never use this salon again. This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly and the place is very clean. I had a pedi they did a wonderful job. The tech actually gave me a leg and foot massage longer than 30 second which I feel most salons do these days. Last week I had a mani pedi. The pedicure was fine. The manicure was a painful experience and I kick myself for just not stopping it. I have natural nails that I wanted to preserve while traveling. After showing her one of my nails she should use as the model of how I want my nails to look, she proceeded to cut all my nails as short as a different, broken one. They were not shaped like the nail I had shown her. She filed the sides of my nails causing rawness in my skin. She scraped back and cut off skin around the entire nail, causing bleeding on one finger. I now have torn skin on most fingers. I did not have these hangnails prior to the manicure. Throughout the process I kept stopping her to try to correct her but she appeared to not understand me. She said she's been working there for 7 or 8 years. I left town the next day and fortunately carried antibiotic cream with me to put on my fingers where they turned red from infection. During the manicure she and her coworker continued to talk in their native language. I find that highly rude. I will not go back. read more
