It's harder to come here than to most places because it's closed on weekends. The menu is relatively small. They get 2.5 stars. Got large rare beef & beef ball pho & pork spring rolls. The pho was pretty good, though saltier than average & with only 1.5 balls. Large also wasn't that big. The spring rolls were so so - a bit overcooked, with below average flavour. Ordered from here a few times now. They are very accommodating with me watching my carbs. I often swap noodles with my pho for extra bean sprouts and they are VERY generous. The broth is always piping hot and flavourful. My family loves their spring rolls. I'm docking a star because recently we ordered fried rice and when we opened it, it was literally burnt. There was chunks of black burnt specs all through out and it just tasted burnt all the way through. Not sure how the kitchen let that slip. But we called and let them know and they just kind of said "ok thanks for letting us know" they did offer to remake, but we were in Keswick and it's too far of a drive to head back for rice. Other then that, everything else has been spot on and super delicious. Will continue to visit to get my pho fix! read more

We were in the area heading to the mall and just used good old yelp to find a quick good meal. Lucky this place showed up with such high ratings. From the outside, it looks really small and just off to the side, but it's actually really nice and cozy inside. It's spacious enough that you aren't really close to those who might sit next to you and it's clean and bright. But enough of the decor. The food was great! We got the regular pho which wasn't anything too special but it wasn't bad. It's a decent portion with a strong broth. We also got calamari which I think was good but I don't know if I like my fried calamari with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. When in Vietnam, you kinda have to expect that sweet and sour flavoring though. I got the mint garden special vermicelli per Yelpers recommendation and it didn't disappoint. The grilled meat was a bit tough but I liked the flavors. Very fresh :) I'm a bit picky about Viet food just because it's literally everywhere and sometimes it's really just noodles in soup passed off as Viet pho. But I would return here :) Service by the way is amazing. Really friendly! Gotta love a family establishment! read more

Small little Pho place located north of nowhere. Thankfully for me, I moved within 15 mins of this place. I've been here about seven times now so let me break it down: First impression: slow service, messy tables and super quiet. Now that I'm a regular, let me share my observations with you: - complete family run restaurant. At least 2 generations. Husband and wife team and grandma in the kitchen. - as a result of the family business, it can take time for them to clean the tables, but don't worry, there will always be at least one available table. - the hot sauce (chilli oil): second best I've ever had (Jim Chai Kee being #1); however, it keeps coming me back for more. - prices are fantastic: 5.00 for a bowl of plain rice noodles. Now on to the food: Honestly, I'm a pho snob. Been everywhere and had a list narrowed down to a few really good places. Obviously it's the broth that makes it a good place and the broth they serve here is the best I've personally ever had. Flavour is spot on, portions are great and the price is right. I'll be back and will continue to come back until I find a better place. But based on bang for buck with flavour taken into account, I think I'll be a lifer here. read more

First Yelp review. I've used Yelp many times before to read reviews ... But never wrote one myself until now . I have ate pho at many places some good some bad , but this little restaurant does it really good... I ordered the shrimp wonton with egg noodles (N03) . Very very tasty broth. I have been meaning to try this place for some time now, and I finally got the opportunity. The restaurant is small, but houses about 12 tables. Most of which were full when we arrived. We were seated quickly and given our menus. The fresh spring rolls were great, the avocado was an interesting twist on a classic. The Pad Thai was really good, however, I asked them to sub out the chicken for beef. My wife had the pork vermicelli which was pretty awesome. My kids stuck with the rare beef pho. The food was amazing. The only issue I have was the service. It is a family run place, but you need to have more staff to support 12 tables plus help in the kitchen and run the food. There were only two people working on a Friday night which is not enough. However the quality and quantity of the food more than compensated the slow service. read more

Mint Garden is a nice little place in Newmarket that serves decent pho at a decent price. Given the options nearby, it is one of the few restaurants that serves authentic and tasty asian food. Price: 3/5 - if i recall correctly it was $9 (maybe $8) for a large bowl of pho. This price is comparable to other restaurants in the GTA in terms of price. Food: 3/5 - i got a large bowl of pho with rare beef. The pho and soup base was good and so was the beef, which was pretty soft. My only complaint is that i did not get much beef at all. If you see my picture attached to this review, you will see it is literally about a handful of beef, probably less. Service: 3.5/5 - the waitress serving the restaurant was nice and polite, and even asked me how my meal was after (which to be honest, is quite rare to see nowadays). However, there was only one waitress serving the entire restaurant and that made service just a little slow. Overall if you like pho and you're in Newmarket for lunch or just hungry, this place is worth a visit read more

BEST PHO IN NEWMARKET!! We have been passing this place never giving it a try but we finally did & so happy!! Family owned, with local clientele and very casual. We ordered the vegetarian roll with cashew sauce (no peanuts there due to peanut allergies so safe to bring kids) the vietnamese rolls were excellent & we both had the beef pho which was very delicious & flavourful. Can't beat the price of the lunch specials! There are 4 options at the $6-$7 range that seem to keep the locals coming back. I have had the Pho (rare beef), and it is always done well. The specials can be a bit dry at times. Also on the menu are more Chinese faves like the Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, with either egg or rice noodles. Flavour is great, portions are good, and price is right. The place is small, and it packs up at lunchtime from the larger local businesses, so get in early! read more

I tried Mint Garden out on a friends recommendation a couple months back. I tried the pho (I don't remember which one), and the yellow curry chicken on white rice. I have to say, I loved the yellow curry dish! =) Since trying out Mint Garden I have started a job right across the street. I am so lucky, as I really did enjoy the delicious curry chicken. I have made it a habit of eating there at least once, sometimes twice a week. I order one of the curry dishes (yellow, green, or red), and a white rice. The portion is quite generous, and lasts me at least 2 meals. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant out if you enjoy Vietnamese Cuisine. Even more, I recommend the curry dishes. You might need a double order of rice if you want to soak up all the curry sauce though. read more

This is my favourite place to go with my father all the time the staff are always so nice and so welcoming. If you are to stop by there I recommend as a customer I recommend their phò it is really good it bursts with flavour and really is enjoyable or if you like meat more I would get the Mint garden special It comes with beef chicken and prock with spring rolls and rice it is really filling.I honestly think anyone new to newmarket or even canada try this place out because trust me you won't regret it. read more

Poor service and possibly racist. Left without even seeing a menu. Waited 5 mins and no server appears. Two other groups arrive after me (of Asian descent) and were attended to first. Lovely little place, good food & nice people. Stick with the lunch specials if you're in a hurry. They are good, fast & inexpensive. Delving deeper into the menu is just a little more expensive & can take a little longer if they're busy but it's well worth the exploration & the time if you're not in a rush. Try the Mint Garden Special Vermicelli for a filling selection of the flavours typical of this restaurant. The appetizers are good too. Definitely worth a regular lunch date. read more

The shrimp on sugar cane search has not ended here. The sugar cane was so small that it was hidden in the shrimp (which I didn't notice through 3 slices of the shrimp(?) mixture. Interesting idea but more successful theoretically than practically. The grilled pork was fine. Despite the many pictures of mint, there was no mint/basil/coriander or peanuts on the dish. The spring rolls were a little undercooked and more mushy than noodle-y. The avocado shake was good-creamy and not-too-sweet. Overall the place was okay, but not good enough to go back. read more

Fantastic find. We were pleasantly surprised by this little place. Clean and nicely decorated. The service was kind and professional. I ordered the pho (rare beef noodle soup) and have to say it is some of the best I've ever had. Served with a flawless and substantial fresh sprig of Thai basil and similarly flawless fresh bean sprouts. Generous cilantro. Sweet brown sauce and hot chili sauce on the side. Came here for lunch with friends after reading good reviews on Yelp. There is Only the cook and the waitress so service was very very slow. Waitress had to run in and out of kitchen. Had customer waiting for takeout food that was called in already. Waited 20 mins b4 our food came. The worst food I have ever eaten in Newmarket. Not authentic what so ever. This place doesn't look like much from the street. If I hadn't seen the yelp reviews I probably wouldn't have eaten here. Excellent food, and friendly service. Their soup is my favorite. If you order it as take out you get the piping hot broth separately from the noodles, vegetables, hot sauce and herbs. Then you can combine them however you like. Yum! read more
