Great service! Food is delicious, service is attentive, location is convenient. Nice menu selections, and decor is pleasant. Lamb curry was excellent, and mango lassi was unique (taste was reminiscent of rice pudding). read more

First off, the atmosphere...it's tucked away in a cozy cellar space. The restaurant sets the mood for a relaxed, indulgent meal. The service was great. Our server was friendly, and attentive. Now, the food. Everything we had was super delicious! Tikka Garlic Chili, mushroom rice, naan, chips, Onion Bhajee, another rice dish and another chicken dish. Everything was delicious and fresh. The spice component wasn't overwhelming...it was perfectly balanced. Definitely 5+ stars for ambience, service, and food!

We've tried various curries and sides from here, including the korma, butter chicken, rogan, jalfrazi, biryani, veggie curry, sag aloo, and a few different naans. No complaints about any of the flavours with these curries! Their peshwari naan is packed with coconut and sultanas and goes really well with the more mild curries. They usually give us extra papadoms when we order them too. For takeaway, I'd recommend booking online if you want to eat early as they are often very busy at opening. We will continuing being regulars here!

And old pub converted into this fabulous Indian restaurant and takeaway. A full car park which is always a good sign, diners packed into the dining room noshing away at bowls of golden curry, fluffy rice and fresh crisp naan breads. There where four of us and we had booked because quite honestly you have to. I'd be very surprised if you got a table if you'd just walked in off the street. Again another very good sign. We where greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to our table. Drinks orders where taken and poppadoms brought to the table. The pickles that accompanied the poppadoms where delicious. Not too sure if they where made in house or not I'm guessing not, but either way they tasted good. We did have starters and with quite an extensive collection there is a lot to choose from. I had the king prawn butterfly. A deliciously perfectly cooked king prawn fried in golden breadcrumbs and served with a small side salad. For the curry then, I had a lamb rogan josh. Quite a mild dish with only a little spice added. To accompany that I had a keema rice and a couple of chapattis. The rice dish is enough for two to share as the curry itself is quite filling. But it was a lovely accompaniment. Not too overpowering with the spiced meat and not too overloaded with onion they got the balance just right. The rogan josh was delightful. It's the first time I've had it and I was impressed. Delicately flavoured and packed with tomato and onion. The sauce was really tasty there just wasn't enough of it to dip the bread in. The meat itself was nice a little tough for my liking but still very nice. The chapattis where beautifully cooked, fresh and hot strait out of the tandoor they where perfect. Not too small you think what's the point. And not too bit you think what am I going to do with this? The meal was finished off nicely with complimentary liquors. We decided not to go for dessert because we'd had such a good meal there was no more room. The service in this restaurant is very good. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. They are only to happy to recommend a dish to you especially if you a first time curry eater. The restaurant itself is very contemporary, spacious and inviting. I'd highly recommend this place to any curry lover or someone who wants to go to a curry house for the first time. I shall definitely be going back in the not to distant future.

The overall experience and customer care was first-rate. We were headed to Cardiff and running a bit behind, and were pretty famished when we decided to pull off of the M4 and venture into the village of Magor. My friend, Esther, was in the mood for Indian food (not generally among my favorite cuisines..at the time, anyway), and Magor's Mango House featured prominently in local reviews. After dining here, I can see why. First off, the owner and hosts were among the friendliest, most personable restaurateurs I have ever met. There was a short wait for a table (~15-20 mins), and the owner offered us a free beer from the bar during our wait, for our trouble. Although we declined, I was impressed by his generous offer, and his personal interest in getting to know us (both foreigners in the UK) and the purpose of our visit. We spent the entirety of our wait for the table speaking with him and our waiter, when he was not busy serving other tables. The interior was clean to the point of sparking, the decor giving off vibes of a modernist manor house set for a formal dinner party (which was slightly intimidating at first, for us to two rough-and-tumble road trippers). The meal, like the decor and the hosts, was fantastic: warm naan bread (which was huge!), and I recall both the Naga and Peri Peri chicken being flavorful, tangy and well within my heat-tolerance limits (my friend...not so much, haha!), despite the owner's warnings. If I ever return to Wales, a stop at Mango House in Magor will be high on the list of required to-do's. It's absolutely worth the detour!

This is my first Yelp review…read more The atmosphere at Tulsi is exceptional. The music is well-sourced, the cherry trees are tasteful and pleasant, and the historic Pulteney bridge location makes this a unique fusion of old and new. However, the service at this restaurant is terrible. I arrived at a time when the restaurant was relatively quiet, and yet the four-person wait staff seemed overwhelmed. I ordered a beer from the tap and a main dish with a side of naan bread. I waited over 30 minutes for my beer to arrive, as the wait staff forgot the order, and then brought the wrong drink to the table, and the last time the waiter who appeared in charge had to pour the drink and bring it over. While waiting, three different waiters asked to take my order, after I had already ordered and informed them of such. When the food arrived over an hour after I ordered, it was not as described in the menu, was cold, and was mediocre. I had to ask them to confirm that it was what I ordered. I asked for the bill from the same waiter who took my order and paid as I did not want to wait to leave after I finished my meal. It is worth noting here that the bread and appetizers they bring (almost unsolicited) at the beginning of the meal are not free and total approximately 5 pounds. After finishing my meal and leaving the restaurant, one of the waitresses chased me down and had the audacity to accuse me of not paying in the middle of the crowded street. Very embarrassing.

It gave us no room to move our adjacent arms, so we kind of sat perched on the edge of our seat eating sideways. Another strange thing was that the server would not look at me or and never addressed me once; he exclusively spoke to my partner. So, atmospherically and service wise, the experience was both unpleasant and uncomfortable. And the food? It was okay. I appreciate that they have vegan and gluten-free options clearly labeled on the menu. We weren't asked about spice levels, so everything was MUCH hotter than we might have personally liked. So much so, that most of what we ordered tasted the same; it didn't help that much of what we ordered ended up being fried too. The Pakoras, Gobi 65, and Mogo Chips were nearly indistinguishable from one another. The Tandoori Broccoli could have been delicious if it wasn't so soggy; the Tofu Chili could have been nice, if it wasn't so spice-forward. The Bengal Jhalmuri (puffed rice shallots, raw mango, coriander chutney, and fresh pomegranate) was my favorite because it felt so different from everything else we tried; light and refreshing, and the variety of textures were interesting too. If you love heat more than flavor, this might be the place for you. For us, there are other restaurants we feel more welcome - and are more excited by the food - at.
