It's spring time! And oh boy does my little backyard need a refresh. I've been to their plant store…read morein town before, but this is more like a garden center rather than a houseplant store. I loved looking around at all the plants. As in most places in Hawai'i, if you're prone to getting bug bites (aka me), you might wanna spray on some protection or cover up. I love that they have a mix of plants, produce, and really cute products. Everything you'd need from moss poles, spray bottles, ceramic pots of all sizes. I even got a really cute plant sticker for my water bottle.

I think they're typically not dog friendly - but i asked prior to the event if they were allowed if they were in strollers and they said yes! i did not want to make the drive over and get turned away! However, at the event itself i saw pets walking on leashes so maybe they became flexible day of? it was too hot on a summer day so poor doggies to be walking on hot pavement. :( i kept them away from the market inside and if i saw food planted on the ground etc. the food vendors had a separate area off to the side which was really hard to get to with a stroller with all the gravel so i decided to skip it too. at the event there was barely no parking - i luckily found street parking in the housing area and walked over which took about 15 minutes i think. During the event the road is super narrow and only one car can get in and out of the housing area around mari's garden.

I'm going to put my disclaimer first - I don't have the "eye". You know the eye for design and…read morestyle and color. The interior design of all my previous homes were very "pieced together"; it was never a cohesive theme. If anything...the theme would be cluttered. But my boyfriend is completely opposite. He has that stylistic eye and hates clutter, so I rely on him when it comes to furnishing our home. As we talked about how we want to decorate our future home, we knew we had to find unique pieces that would match the color scheme of the condo and something we would like. On a whim, we checked out Red Knot and stumbled upon the couch that met all of our criteria: 1. Gray 2. Unique look with the white stitching, not so boxy design and it came with two little stools that would be stored in the armrest 3. Had a chaise Plus it had a matching ottoman with storage and can turn into a bed. We loved it. But of course we had questions. And, it's like the furniture gods heard our prayer and sent us Derek. He saw us looking around and stopped by us to see how we were doing and if we had questions. He was able to answer all of our questions and helped us with the transaction. When learning that we were in the process of buying a place, he helped us to figure out the timing of when we would receive couch as well as the payment options available. Besides from the great service we received, I loved the wide selection of items available and the prices are competitive. I know we will be back for the other pieces.

Anywhos, Derek greeted me and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I only mentioned a black or white dresser, totally forgot I was looking for a dining table. He was very knowledgeable with what they had in store but not what I was looking for. I decided to venture around while my dad checked out the sectional couches. He found one and we were chilling there for quite awhile but no one else came by so we decided to venture to the other side. My son really loved the red couch but reds just not in our color scheme, not even in his room lol. They had a lot of cute decor accessories for a beauty room.

We just didn't know that the same company made these products- we noticed it on our last trip. When we were walking at the Beach Walk at night (which is so much prettier, all lighted and such), we came upon this store located on the lower level, on the same side as Honolua (featuring all their products; maybe you've seen the hula girl, that's their logo), which had an unusual sale promotion- "anything with brown on it", was 50% off. So, we were looking for Vintage hawaiiana prints, during our recent trip. My husband found a calendar marked $9.99, so this was a good deal. We plan on coming here next year on our annual trip.

I think they also have one in June or July also to help liquidate their items. I had a ceramic plaque hanging by my front door what said mahalo for removing your slippahs and the metal bracket attached to the plaque came right off. The plaque wasn't scored. It was just hot glued onto the glossy finish. It's a good thing it didn't completely shatter on the ground. You want cheap souvenirs, go the Aloha swap meet. I always find great things for my home here, and the body wash and skincare section is one of my favorites because there's such a good variety at a great value. The purses and accessories were also super cute and definitely caught my attention. Unfortunately, what put my shopping on pause was the bathroom being closed. When you're planning to spend time browsing, not having access to a restroom can really affect the experience, and it cut my visit shorter than I expected. Overall, I still like shopping at TJ Maxx and will continue to come back because I can usually count on finding something stylish and affordable. I just hope the restroom situation gets resolved, because everything else about the store was enjoyable.
