LOVE TJL stores!…read more Always fun to pop in and see what's rotated about and the occasional sales they have, like the BOGO for many of the Bandai toys and collectibles in front. I wanted to get a few things for various toy drives I've been donating to around LA this month and made out with a great haul. The girls in the store were both super helpful and kind... Greeted me and offered to assist on the floor. I did a few laps throughout as they had so much! Including items displayed on top of other items... Almost like walking into some super collectors living room and seeing their ultimate store of accessories, charms, collectibles, cutlery, drinkware, plushies, toys, and more. I feel like the store itself used to be closer to the main mall side near Claire's and the entrance closest to Tampa Avenue / Nordoff Street a few years ago, but has shifted toward the back (might be mixing it up with another Westfield or maybe it's just been a while since I was here). Being such a popular chain store, they'd do well anywhere in the mall. However, it felt like a mission to locate it. And there wasn't much around it with a vacant former department store being next to it on the 1st level. If not for the sale, I'd have spent way more. Definitely on the pricer side compared to other places, but I appreciate the physical experience here as you can't come across everything they carry online or their own website. Feels a little more neighborhood-esque with the printed and handwritten signs. Definitely welcome and an easy shopping experience overall.

Really disappointed with the customer service I received at Cotton On. I simply asked an employee…read moreif I could check the balance on a gift card. He told me that the only way to find out the balance was to actually purchase something with it. I thought that sounded ridiculous, so I called the store from inside the same store and another employee told me that yes, they can check the gift card balance without making a purchase. The frustrating part is that the first employee could have easily checked it or given me the correct information, but instead I had to call the store myself while literally standing inside the store just to get an answer. Mistakes happen, but giving incorrect information and making the customer do extra work instead of simply helping them is poor customer service. Hopefully management can address this with the staff so other customers don't have the same experience.

Last month I had mine and my husband's closets customized using Elfa. My walk-in closet is a pretty…read moregood size, and my husband has a standard two-door closet. We had customized closets in a duplex we owned years ago for two small closets and had a good experience, so we decided to use them again for our home. I also saw that they were having 30% off Elfa for a limited time. I scheduled for a designer to come to our house mainly because of my walk-in closet and the fact that it could be a little more complicated. The designer was on time and very nice. She measured our closets and also took notes of the shelves that were already in place that we wanted removed. I had some back and forth with the designer over about a week, and then it took a few more days to finalize the order. I think it took a little more time because they were checking that they had all the pieces for my closet design. The designer let me know that, unfortunately, some of the pieces I had chosen were being discontinued, so they did not have enough pieces for my order. Because of that, they upgraded my order to Elfa Decor for the same cost that I was originally quoted. I was obviously very excited and really appreciated that they did that rather than having me change my closet design. I was also quoted for the demolition of what was currently in my closet, and I found the quote very fair. I scheduled installation, which was originally planned over two days because of the demolition of what was currently in our closets and because my walk-in closet was a bigger job. The installer arrived on time and, in the afternoon, asked if he could work a little later so he could finish the closets that day. I was very happy to have everything completed in one day. The installer took all the demolished pieces from our closets with him to discard, which I really appreciated. For some reason, I thought I was going to have to be responsible for getting rid of the old closet pieces, so that was a big relief. I ended up changing my configuration a little after seeing how what I chose looked in my closet, and I appreciated that the installer was flexible. There was one item that I received in the wrong color, but luckily it was something I could slide into my closet myself and did not require the installer. I ended up returning the extra pieces from changing my closet configuration a little bit, and the store did not give me any issues. Overall, I had a great experience and would use The Container Store again for other closets in my house.

I'm writing to share a very disappointing experience I had today at The Container Store in Woodland…read moreHills, off Ventura Boulevard. Before entering the store, I noticed an employee named Zelica (I believe that is the spelling) assisting several white customers. She was smiling, friendly, engaged, and appeared very welcoming. When I approached the counter with my items to make a purchase, her demeanor toward me was completely different. She barely looked at me, barely spoke to me, did not greet or acknowledge me in any meaningful way, and ultimately directed another associate to assist me instead. As a Black man, it was especially upsetting to experience such noticeably different treatment from another Black employee immediately after witnessing how warmly she interacted with other customers. I cannot speak to what her intentions were, but I can speak to how the interaction made me feel: unwelcome, dismissed, and disrespected. No customer should walk into a store prepared to spend their money and leave wondering whether they were treated differently because of who they are. The contrast in the level of service I witnessed was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the importance of providing every customer with the same basic level of courtesy, professionalism, and respect. This was one of the rudest and most uncomfortable retail experiences I have had in quite some time.
