Coolidge Corner MiniLuxe is fabulous. They are prompt, professional and kind. The gel mani is on the pricier side but worth the money. Most of the women there were extremely nice and welcoming, even the young lady that did my nails. She did an amazing job and was super nice, patient, fast, and friendly. However, one lady there who I believe was the trainer was extremely condescending to the girls and very disrespectful in her tone. If it made me uncomfortable I'm sure it does for the girls training. First of all, based on their menu, this pedicure include a "light callus removal", which was indeed soooo light that nothing actually got removed...literally NOTHING...nothing even got scrubbed off from my feet... The technician kept telling me 'you have a very nice feet...' while my heels were actually cracking obviously... can't stop wondering if that was her way to avoid detailed work?! Secondly, the soaking water was TAP COLD...I doubt that everything got soften... The technician was nice overall, but the receptionist, no so much, cold, unwelcoming. I got my nails done at MiniLuxe. Now I came with my cousin, and the workers did not start us at the same time. Finally when I got to start, for some reason instead of starting with pedicures they started us with manicures. I have been here before and it has been way better. Now the worker, was insisting that I get glitter on my nails. Then she said " you want glitter? Ok we will put glitter on your nails." I had specifically said no glitter. It's been 2 days since my appointment and most of my nail polish is off or chipped. Also I asked for squared nails. She gave me round nails. They can do way better than this! read more

My overall experience was okay, I booked a lux mani pedi, which is their top tier bundle, and was expecting a better service. the products quality is not better than most places I've been to, and they gave me a inexperienced technician who's english wasn't great not that thats a problem, but it made it a little difficult to communicate what I wanted hence took a longer and a lot of mistakes. I think this is a problem due to the management if you have a new customer who booked the top experience I would recommend to match them with an experienced technician to gain customers. I felt bad for the technician as she was nervous and needed to be told by other technicians as what to do. I was very dissapointed with the way my nails turned out and my polish got messed up as soon as i got in the car even though I waited 15 minutes to dry. read more

Just had a lovely signature manicure, with the shade Caviar (black). The salon was clean, as were the nail instruments; it all seemed very sanitary. The music was fit, upbeat pop, and they offered tea and water which was a nice touch. My actual manicure was done well, and the whole process, including dry time took about 55 minutes. The price was higher than salons I've been to previously, with $22 the starting price for the signature manicure, however, with everything taken into account, the price is fair for the whole experience. I came to the store to get a pedicure. I wasn't even asked what I wanted. Immediately I walked in and was stared at like I was crazy. They closed at 9:00 and I came in at 8:15. I wanted it fast and regular nail polish not even gel. No massage, no extra just paint. I didn't think it was fair that they didn't even ask me what I wanted and instead said we can't help you, rolled their eyes and continued to be rude and catty and also and kept saying they were closed repeatedly. Anyway... I'm NOT going back. It's unfortunate that one rude employee can make someone not do business.. well miniluxe, I would suggest you look into this because if your employees are making people not come back. I would love to give a good review and recommend this place. I would love to enjoy my experience there because it is very well located and convenient for me (and the venue itself is really nice!). But, I've never seen employees working in costumer service being as rude as there! I've been twice: the first time, the lady was unable to put a smile on her face; she was also speaking really fast and softly, and given that I am a not a native English speaker, I had a hard time understanding what she was saying. Her tone was so rude when she was repeating, as if she was annoyed to do so. The second time, the lady cut my skin *twice* - and after I said slightly screamed the first time, she never apologized and just kept going has fast and rude without caring (which resulted in a second cut). Believe me - I am not a complainer nor a "high maintenance" costumer, and I never write reviews. But this place should revisit their customer service so it can be as shining as their venue! read more

Compared to the location in Chestnut Hill, the Coolidge Corner staff are warm and welcoming and they seem to genuinely care about your overall experience at the salon. However, my gel manicure started to chip away within ONE day of getting my nails done. I did nothing out of the ordinary for this to happen. I've tried this place before, but thought my bad experience must have been because of a new technician....nope! I paid over $30 for a performance polish manicure alone. My nails were cut so short it hurt, they were filed unevenly and the polish had bubbles as soon as I left. I got this done on Saturday and this is what my nails looked like by Wednesday morning (this is supposed to last for 2 weeks)!! Came in here with a friend for her birthday to get gel Mani and spa pedicure. Both of our Gel Mani's didn't last few days, nonetheless two weeks which is standard with gel manicures. My friend works in CC so she stopped by to have a repair - I booked appointment to fix my gel Mani but was late and told I had to wait another two hours to fix one nail. On Monday, May 14th I had a 2:30 PM appointment for a performance polish manicure. I got to the salon early and waited about ten minutes for the manicurist to take me. When I sat down I told her that I had dip polish on. She excused herself and went to talk to the receptionist at the front. They whispered to each other and came back together to tell me that since they don't do dip at Miniluxe, they "didn't have the time" to give me a manicure. I know that it does not take substantially longer to remove dip polish than gel polish and I said so. The receptionist was insistent that it would take too long and they couldn't give me a manicure. If the manicurists in your salon are so pressed for time that they cannot remove clients' nail polish, then someone should have offered to remove the polish while I waited ten minutes to be seen. If the issue is really that your nail salon is unwilling to remove nail polish that they did not apply, as I suspect it is, then this is such poor customer service that It is unfathomable that your salon is able to retain clients. I certainly will be choosing one of the many other nail salons in Brookline instead, and urging my friends to do the same. read more

I had a really long week at work, so I decided to treat myself to a fancy manicure at MiniLuxe. I opted for the $10 performance polish upgrade to the $20 signature manicure, which means that the polish air dries in five minutes and is guaranteed to not chip for five days, but should last for seven. The nail cleanup was fine, though the filing was a bit uneven. But as the nail technician finished the first coat, I could see that there were bubbles in the polish and on my thumb there was a jagged, sharp edge. The cuticles were sloppy and she did a poor job of cleaning the polish off of my skin (I have short nails, so getting it on my skin is understandable, but it should be clean by the time I leave). After the second coat it was not much better. The nail technician had to move on to her next client, so I saw there waiting a few minutes for my nails to dry and got out the little nail file they let me keep. I fixed the rough edge on my thumb and inspected the rest of the polish. It honestly looks like I did it myself, it's so rough and ragged around my cuticles. I've had MUCH better manicures at the half dozen other nail salons in the area for 1/3 of the price I was about to pay. And I told the woman at the front desk that the polish wasn't that great and there were bubbles. She told me that if it chips anytime in the next five days I can come back in and get it fixed. I booked a 40 minute appointment for gel removal and regular polish french tips at 8:15pm (closing at 9pm). They took me in close to 10 minutes late, which I didn't mind, except for the fact that the staff had to stay late. It was clear the manicurist was in a hurry. While he did a very thorough job cleaning my nails, the french tips were very hastily done. Every single one is lopsided, not the shape I want, and a few are quite messy. The top coat was applied so poorly that the edges lifted within an hour after getting them done. I am grateful that they stayed open late to accommodate my appointment, but I don't think it's fair to sacrifice quality if I pay the same amount. I wish there was a policy that if you are unhappy with your manicure, you can return within 24 hours to do a touch up or to address any issues you may have. I think only then would MiniLuxe be worth the price, and only then would I come back/recommend to others. read more

Just tried this place for the first time--the recommended fast dry extra hard polish for $30. Afterwards, I looked at my nails and there were weird bubbles and lines throughout. I raised this at the cashier and was told breezily that someone could "touch up" the problem spots. I pointed out that there were not "problem spots" -- the "problem spot" was the manicure. She said, they could just take the polish off and do it again. (Which, btw, I did not have time for.) At which point I asked, so is this common? The nonchalant answer: Yeah, sometimes. Depends on the color. Maybe it was the bottle. Seriously?!? And not even a simple: "So sorry about this"? No acknowledgment that this is not what one has reason to expect at an upscale salon? No acknowledgment that it is not, in fact, super convenient for me to come back and have this re-done? Grrr. (In fairness, I should add that I have been to another Miniluxe many times and never had any remotely similar issues.) read more

I had an above average experience at miniluxe. It was nice because of the bright and clean atmosphere. I was however extremely disappointed in the pedicure station. The seats do not adjust at all and I was extremely uncomfortable. I am 5'11" so I was too tall for the station, as my knees were more scrunched than I would like for my pedicures. I however loved how my gel mani came out, and the UV process was much quicker than I have experienced at other salons. I will continue to do my manis at this location on the occation when I'm looking to splurge, but my pedis will be taken elsewhere. read more

I was a regular at the Brookline location when it was located on Harvard St closer to the TJ Maxx. I will say I did like Miniluxe because of its commitment to cleanliness (extra star) compared to other salons I've been to in the past. After my last appointment, I had made an appointment for a gel manicure due to a wedding I had coming up. A few days later, I received an email that Miniluxe Brookline would be moving locations and reopen for the day AFTER I had made my appointment. The email mentioned nothing about existing appointments being canceled. While I assumed so, I emailed customer service for further information. No response. I emailed a second time and still no response. The email did mention to contact them if I wanted to make an appointment and get 20% off, but I couldn't even get in touch with them. By the nature of the email, I was under the impression that all staff, etc was moving from the old location to the new location but this isn't the case. Turns out, the old location retained the staff, equipment, cleaning practices, appointments, etc, just under a new name (they separated from the Miniluxe brand). I understand there are hiccups when new businesses open, so hopefully they'll be solved soon! read more

Very disappointing for the price. I treated my niece (13-years) to a Performance Polish Mani/ Pedi Combo. The manicurist was not thorough at all - not sure if it was due to my niece's age but that should not be an issue if we're paying customers. - My niece's hand nails were not cut nor was it offered to her. I had asked my niece why she didn't get her nails cut - she said that they didn't ask her if she wanted or not. - The manicurist did a horrible job with the polish and topcoat. 4 out of her 10 fingers were not fully polished and coated. Very very disappointing as this was a graduation gift and also this was a special mani/ pedi as her graduation is on Tuesday, 06/20. I on the other hand got a Signature Mani only and Tram, my manicurist, was awesome. read more

The Coolidge Corner location was easy to get to and the place was beautiful - Clean, bright & modern with a super friendly & personable staff. I only did a basic manicure and pedicure this time around (no gels or fancy polish) but Renee, my technician, took very good care of me. The service was phenomenal and even days later my nails still look great! The smallest negative would be the prices. While they aren't unreasonable, they are slightly higher than a basic salon.That being said, MiniLuxe is definitely not a basic salon. The experience, cleanliness, quality, and service here are more than worth the few extra dollars. read more
