Minich and Sons installed our solar system and Tesla Powerwall 3 in April 2025. During the installation process, Cody was knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful, and the system itself has worked well.
However, as of May 2026, the job is still not fully complete because the NEM application with SDG&E has not been properly completed and approved. This is a critical part of the solar installation process since it allows the system to export excess energy back to the grid and receive energy credits.
Over the past year, I've followed up with Cody approximately 6-8 times and have repeatedly been told that he would "get to it" or that the application had already been submitted/completed. I also contacted SDG&E directly multiple times to verify the status, and they confirmed the vendor still needed to complete the required portions of the application.
In my view, completing and obtaining approval for the NEM application is part of the installation and service that customers are paying for. Until that process is complete, the job is not truly finished.
It's disappointing because the actual install experience was positive, but the lack of follow-through on such an important final step has significantly impacted the overall experience. read more
