Mini Yaletown has always treated me very well. Their service never seemed fake or pretentious. I know BMW owns them, but I cannot say the same for BMW dealerships. The showroom is easy on the eyes and although parking is not always the easiest to find in Yaletown, it's easy to get here by walking or skytrain. The dealership itself does an amazing job at keeping their customers happy. The main person I at the dealership that helped us is Albert. If you're looking for a car, ask for him. He's never pushy and seemed fairly honest. They do need to work a bit on the staff at their terminal location though. (Where they do their servicing for the cars) I've always had little mess ups with scheduling or misunderstands of what I need/want. I need to repeat myself a lot even though I've asked notes to be made on their computer. But that's a different story and I won't factor that part into my review. read more

I was so disappointed in my service at the BMW place on west 5th. Mini Yaletown and Mini Richmond have been exemplary and impeccable in their service for myt 2013 Baker St model. Called and discussed my need for new tires. Went in and talked about my need for new tires and an oil change. Was informed that my car needed to be in before 11am to get tires. Took the day off work as I live in North Van, there was no courtesy car for me so I had to organize a ride. When I called at 1 to inquire about tires, the guy said he didn't realize I needed tires. When I told him I have a slow leak and am worried to drive without proper inflation in my tires. That I drive it like a rally car and need to feel confident in my tires- he laughed at that. But he didn't know I wanted tires? I will NEVER go back and I miss Mini Yaletown!! That was a waste of a day off for sure! read more

I'm sure a lot of dealerships run this way but in my opinion it is a scam. I leased from here...big mistake. They control everything from the car insurance to the garage (where A LOT won't be covered by your lease) to the inspection upon return and every step of the way they will find a way to gauge you. You pay PREMIUM prices for every aspect of their forced service - not at all industry averages. Like I said, maybe all dealerships run this way but all I can say is do not lease with them unless you like throwing money away. read more

Got an aggressive phone call from the Armin, the SALES MANAGER because I had pulled out from a deal when they had misinformed me that the vehicle had an accident prior to signing the paper. I had no issues with the sales rep but it upset the manager and he decided to express his anger towards me even after I had spoken to the financial service manager which they had no problem with. If you happen to pull out from a deal expect to get an aggressive phone call. This had to be the worst customer service experience that I got from a sales manager. * he wouldn't let me speak and continued to express his anger on the phone. This review is for the Mini service repair shop on Terminal Ave. I have been taking my Cooper S there since 2005 and find they offer great service and customer care. My most recent visit last week was no exception. Rico was my service advisor and he really went beyond great service. They walk through your car's issues, provide a quote, and stand behind their work. They'll work with you to prioritize things if you can't afford to fix everything at once. Everyone else I spoke with there (shuttle driver, car detailer) was also very friendly. I will continue to bring my car to this shop, for as long as I own a Mini. read more

Alex has been looking after me since the beginning (5 years!!) First as my service advisor and now as the manager - but he still looks after me! They will do everything they can to provide the best level of service. Providing you with options and even telling you to shop around!!! They will match prices of competitors (if your warranty is up) and will always make sure that everything is explained to you in a comprehensive way. (which let's face it if you're not a car tech what do we know!) Once I was having some body work done at B&D and my battery died (enough is enough right?!) It's actually a service center for Yaletown Mini, they seem to know what customer service is all about, each time I bring my Mini Cooper S to have it service, I always get a reminder call the prior day. When I arrive, they take the stress out by not having you wait a long time, premium coffee, soda, Star Choice TV, WiFi, and even a mini racing track for you to pass the time. The specialists and the manager are very helpful but never push to buy or upgrade like allot of old school service depot that I experienced before. So if you just bought a new Mini or own a Mini, go check them out. read more

Pretty chic here, no kidding, it's Yaletown; nice to see they have a lot more models to choose from, thought they only had their famous roadster, but have several additional models: 4 seater, 4 door, 2 doors w/ 4 seats, some with 2 sunroofs too. Just kicking around tires for now, literally, as I do admire its parking ability, can squeeze into anything in DT. The trunk space is my downfall. But the "Product Advisor' (no car salesman on his business card) Robert pretty helpful, offered to email me some quotes. Lease allowance is 24,000km which is a bit better than some. Free Van Houtte coffee ;) Nice seating lounge too. read more

This is for the service department only. I LOVE my Mini - have had it for a year and a half and it's amazing but I will be letting it go at the end of the lease in Oct because of the service at this shop. My first three experiences were 5 stars no question. And I always let them know. Last month my engine light came on so I took the car in. It was taken right away and I was told it would likely be end of day for a pick up which was fine. Yay Mini. Late (like 4PM) that afternoon I was told it would need to stay overnight & that they would call me before noon the next day. Ok. :( No word the next day so I called at 11:30 & was told that my service advisor was on break and no one else there could give me an update. He would call me back when he returned. No one called me back and so an hour later I called again. My service advisor, told me he had no update but would talk to the technician and call me back in 5 minutes. When on one called after 30 minutes I called back again and was told my car needed to be kept overnight for a test drive. I agreed and was told they would call me the next day by 10AM to arrange a pick up time. By 3PM I called after no word....that's when I was told they were keeping it again and the service advisor was "taking it home". It took 5 days to "fix" the problem with no calls at all from mini explaining this, they used my gas for overnight testing but never replaced it and one month later I'm back with the same issue. Just had to call them again because I had not heard anything and was told a) Only the one service advisor who had helped me this morning can access my file (what?) and b) their whole IT system was crashing all day so they wouldn't even be able to look at it today. Thanks for telling me guys. Service here has gone downhill and as sad as I will be to part with my mini I will be very glad not to have to deal with this place anymore. And the best/ worst part - I had sent this in an email to my sales rep who said I should let him know if I ever had any concerns....no response at all. read more

I have been dealing with Mini Yaletown service for almost 10 years (I'm on my second Mini) and after trying other service options (big mistake) they are the only ones who get things done - properly and correctly! Alex and the whole staff go above and beyond to make sure your car is tip-top. Most recently, I had some minor body work done through a supposedly reputable (and insurance company recommended) body shop - who completely messed up something else unrelated on another area of my car. Fed up with the horrible service I was receiving - I took it to Alex - and between him, Aaron and the service guys - they made it right. They really do provide the best level of service ... from now on, I won't deal with anyone else when it comes to my Mini! Thank guys! Those minis! I want one so bad.... However, I can't afford it, but I still walk by Mini and wish, oh wish that I can buy one. They have Mini Next, the John Cooper convertible, the normal one...I don't even know they kind of all look the same. The retail space is very neat because it opens up to the street and the doors are almost like a garage door. The cars are parked in the service area and the retail area which also makes good eye-candy. read more

I took my car in because I had an issue with my front passenger seat belt back in Dec 2015. I was given a quote of about $500+ for the repair. I was about to go away on vacation over Christmas so I really didn't want the extra expense. I had intended to drive my mini for my vacation on the Island. The Service Manager, Alex (Don't know his last name), was so fabulous!!! He said he would contact BMW and see if they would cover the cost of replacing this major safety issue. He didn't promise he could get it done for me for free but he said he would try. Later that day, he called me with good news. He was able to get the seat belt repaired at no cost and he can have it done within 2 days in time for my vacation! I want to give you a shout out Alex for your tremendous customer service. Because of you, my family was safe and we were able to go off on our vacation in time at no extra expense. I went in to this dealership to get other repairs and maintenance done and I was told he got promoted. I'm not surprised. He gave me great service and I will be a loyal fan of this location! I have owned 63 cars over my driving career.I like the Mini Cooper,but have been treated very poorly from Yaletown Mini.I have the standard Mini Timing Chain problem that has been recalled by the States and Australia,but these guys said the clatter was normal and the engine has no issues.They also wanted to replace only 1 back brake caliper that was rubbing.The Industry standard is both.I also had a flat tire that they said could not be repaired and offered to replace only 1 of the back tires.WHAT????You never replace 1 tire only on a car.Poor service and will never go back.Richmond Mini has dealt with the issues without any hesitation. read more

I recently had an amazing car buying experience provided by Yaletown Mini. My first contact was with Gerry Allin who made us feel comfortable, and accommodated any appointment we wanted. Every time we saw him, he remembered and greeted us with a big smile and warm welcome. He then introduced us to our sales person Sharon Mehrtash. Let me just say, this girl knows her stuff. Not "pushy salesman" stuff...she genuinely cared for the product she was selling. She was so helpful, and took special care in going over our new car with us. She was simply a pleasure to work with, and one of the friendliest people I have spoken with in quite some time! We ended our transaction in the business office with Kelli Jones. She made everything so pain free! I can't remember the last time I bought a car and had the experience go so smoothly (and quickly). Kelli had all my documents ready to go, and to top it off she emailed me all my copies! Not only do I not have to worry about losing them, it saves paper! This review is for Mini Van Service one Terminal. If I can give it less than 1 star, I would. Worst experience ever as first time leasee bringing in my (then leased mini) due to punctured tire a few years ago. The sales/parts guy insisted that I replace all 4 tires instead of the 1 punctured because of lease requirement and that he will not agree to replacing just the 1 punctured tire. This is clearly false. Not sure if it's lack of training or how Mini treats their customers in general to sell more. Until this day, never consider being a mini customer again and have shared my experience with peers friends and family about Mini and to avoid. read more

I appreciate that the service one receives from a provider may vary from those experienced by others. Frankly, I find this quite unfortunate as I believe service must be consistent and always be a reflection of a firm's commitment to customer satisfaction. I recently bought an off-brand vehicle from Yaletown Mini. Initially, they seemed quite pleasant and accomodating; for example, I was allowed to take the vehicle to its original dealership for an inspection. While that was appreciated, what was not appreciated was the amateur sales process exemplified by a pre-purchase generic email sent to me "thanking me for my interest in buying a Mini....". This was sent to me after I walked away from the process and before the sales person called me back to re-negotiate. Nice that there is no time taken to tailor emails to potential clients. When I came back from the inspection at Open Road Audi (a professional and respectful dealership - 10 stars for them!) on a Friday evening, I handed them the keys and said I'd be back on Saturday to purchase the car. I had not yet signed anything. At 1 pm on Saturday, the sales rep calls and demands: "where are you". A "Hello Michael, what time can we expect you" would have been somewhat more professional. I told him I was shopping with my wife. He said " you promised to be by today". Well today still had 5 hours left. I assured him I would be by shortly and if he could have the car detailed I'd be most grateful. Detailing is the least one can expect when buying a new (or new for me) vehicle and this one had a huge mudprint on the driver side mat. He then said, "well you have been the only person driving it". Seriously. I'm about to buy a car from him and cleaning it is too much to ask? This sales fellow really was going out of his way to provide exemplary service. He also said that I'd better get down there fast as the finance manager was " really busy as it is the weekend". I was certain that if I am about to finance a purchase, they will make time for me. Sure enough, when we arrived the place was deserted. I bought the car (as promised). Now, when buying a used vehicle, a dealership must keep the previous owner's identity private. In this case, the previous owner's SFU exam papers were in a folder under the seat and his cd's were still in the player. Thanks for detailing the car and sharing the previous owner's information. And I then received another generic email, thanking me "for purchasing a new Mini. We hope your new Mini provides many years of...". I know it was an Audi and not a Mini/BMW product. Still, a personal email of thanks would be a nice touch. Yaletown Mini is, in my opinion and experience, terribly insincere. When I called the manager, Chris, to offer constructive feedback (I am in marketing, after all), I could tell from his silence on the other end of the phone that he did not appreciate my comments. His only comment was the sales person is "young and still had a few things to learn". Well, Chris, that is your responsibility. I mean really: educating new sales staff about good client relations is critical, and taking a moment to craft a personalized email to a new client is a basic courtesy. I see from another Yelp review below that another client had a similar expereince with Yaletown Mini's management. While he and I may be in the minority, our experiences may - and likely will - influence potential purchasers to drive elsewhere. read more

In the past I have leased a vehicle at Autowest BMW and Mini Yaletown and I have to say the service on both of these could not be more different. As a single working female, I always get nervous when I go into a dealership because they usually try to talk to "the man" I am with. Whether it is a friend, my father, or brother. Even thought I am the one that will ultimately be purchasing the car. When I first got my Mini Cooper in September of 2009, I had dealt with Ryan. He was very warm and easy to connect with. He didn't care that I came to the dealership on my own and wanted to test drive a car. He treated me as thought I was going to buy 10 Mini Coopers -- and that was new to me. When I came back that evening to show my dad the car, he spoke directly to me and although was very friendly with my father, he made sure I was taken care of first. At the end of the second test drive, I ended up leasing the vehicle. Throughout the year, many things had changed. And unfortunately a little over a month ago, I needed to get out of my lease because I would be doing a lot more travelling in the next year or so. I was so surprised that Chris, the Sales Manager took the time to speak with me and try to figure out a way for me to get out of my lease. He was very friendly and although I wanted to get out of my lease, still treated me like a good customer. I eventually found someone to take over my lease and I am saddened to not be able to zip around in a Mini anymore. I just have to say that the people of Mini Yaletown make car-buying (even for women) enjoyable and not a bit stressful. read more

I have to say, I was not impressed with the service my friend and I experienced at Mini Yaletown a few weeks ago. I heard an ad on the radio for a Mini Cooper lease - only $258/month. We went off to visit the showroom, which is right downtown Yaletown. There might be customer parking somewhere, but it isn't clearly advertised - we paid $4.00 for street parking. I expected the lease payments to be a bit higher than advertised, considering we'd need an automatic transmission. We sat in the car, chatted with the salesman (who was friendly at this point), etc. When we asked what the total monthly lease would cost, he asked us to come to his desk (RED FLAG!). He said he would give us an extra $1,000 off, which he made clear was only valid for 48 hours. Even with that discount, the monthly price was $391. I can understand the cost won't be exactly as advertised, but $135/month more than the advertised price is a little ridiculous. Total scam. We drove the car anyway, since they had gone through the hassle of driving it up onto their car elevator and whatnot. When we came back, the salesman was waiting for us, ready to make a deal. When we told him it was over our budget, he became rude and forceful, pressuring us to lease the car. We said we would have to think about it and either come back or call him later. He responded by threatening to do away with the $1,000 discount if we left. He also asked where we were going, so I told him Fiat (which was true). He immediately started badmouthing Fiat, saying the build quality is terrible, they're not reliable, he didn't think my friend would be satisfied with a Fiat, blah blah blah. This offended both of us greatly. We left. He called a few times after we left - twice that evening, while we were at Fiat (a much better experience, btw), and once the next morning. I answered. He practically begged for our business. Sorry, but we liked the car, the prices, and the customer service better at Fiat. I had an opposite experience buying my Mini 4 years ago at Mini Richmond. If you're in the market for a Mini, I'd skip Yaletown and try a different location instead. You'll thank me later. read more

Very upset with MINI Yaletown Service Department. I took my 2007 Mini Convertible in for an oil change promotion that MINI Yaletown had. I know this is to get you into their service department so that they can gain you for a customer but I took it in for the oil change anyway. When I picked up my car, Alex told me that the brake lines were leaking and needed to be replaced. Cost 1700.00 When asked he said it was just the age of the car. I left and took my car to my mechanic (who has been in the business for over 25 years). He told me there was a leak but it was the power steering. Cost 380.00 I had this repaired and everything is good now with no more leaks under the hood or on my garage floor. I am very disappointed that MINI Yaletown would make this kind of mistake. I'm so glad that I never let them talk me into an unnecessary, costly repair. My advice, "Be careful." read more

They did a oil change without asking me and I already recently had it done. I just got back from MINI Yaletown and second everything that Raymond S. and Terry R. wrote. I had the misfortune of having to deal with Albert Wong, who is the Assistant Sales Manager (both Chris Ongkiko and Sean Hardman had already cut out 40 minutes early). I also went in regarding lease-end, which means you are immediately just a nuisance and annoyance to them. As an all-cash customer I guess I was hoping for some minor pleasantries like being spoken to politely and with a modicum of respect, but this was not to be the case - Albert Wong was BEYOND RUDE. I only decided to go into the dealership after my calls/emails had gone unreturned by Sean Hardman and their "product advisor" Carlo Vecchio. I definitely WOULD NEVER bring any repeat business to this dealership, and this experience has left me reconsidering MINI products altogether. To repeat what Raymond S. wrote exactly 4 months ago today: "As long as they think you're buying, they'll give you time and attention. But the after-sale service is deplorable." The dealership was completely empty when I went in, so I would have thought that referrals and repeat business are things that they would want - apparently not. read more

If you are even entertaining the idea or notion of getting a Mini, you need to do yourself a favour and visit Mini Yaletown. The minute I stepped in the door I was greeted by their friendly staff. I was happily greeted by Sharon Mehrtash and she spent the afternoon answering all my questions and concerns about the Mini. Having driven only Japanese cars I had quite a few questions to ask! No pressure sales, on my own schedule, I never imagined the whole experience would be so stress free ... Spec. out the details of the car, insurance, payment and delivery. It's not often the Sales Manager, Gerry Allin, would come by to ensure that they would do what they could to make you happy with your purchase. They have worked hard to make the car service experience a good one. Comfortable waiting area, HDTV, wifi, coffee, soda, computer terminal, a place where you can relax or work while waiting. Cooper, the dog who mills about, is a nice touch too. They make an effort in their customer service and you can tell. It's nice when you are served by one of the more experienced ones. read more

I took my car here in an emergency, because I didn't believe I could make it to my usual Mini dealer. I'm so sorry I did. Despite having been thoroughly checked by the other dealership recently, Mini Yaletown told me that my car needed approximately $1400 in repairs (not just for what I took it in for). I ended up doing most of them (sucker that I am). Since having my car "repaired" here, I've had nothing but problems. I'd had this car two years with NO issues at all but in the last year since visiting Mini Yaletown, I've had to spend thousands in repairs. The most recent being two oil leaks in hard-to-see places - the car started going through oil like you wouldn't believe suddenly after visiting Mini Yaletown. Going from NEVER having to top up to needing to check and top up oil at least every 2 weeks. This repair will cost me $1400. In addition I was charged $25 by Mini Yaletown for a courtesy car, which I think is ludicrous. They asked if the other Mini dealership usually charges me and I said no. They claimed that was not in line with BMW's rules. WHATEVER. I've not EVER been charged for a courtesy car by any dealership or repair shop I've taken any of my cars to. Oh, oh, and also they informed me that my car has a CVT. It does not have a CVT, I made sure before I bought it because those have failed in Minis and there was a class action law suit about it. He insisted that yes, my car has a CVT - this is after doing work on my transmission, and they don't even know what kind of transmission it was? What is going on? I verified with my usual Mini dealer that the car does not have a CVT, which of course I already knew. And don't let me forget, I got a text afterward offering to pay me with a $25 gift card if I would give them a positive review, as "BMW expects 100% satisfaction". Seems unethical to me. There's where my $25 for the courtesy car went I guess. read more

As usual, these people are amazing. Unbeknownst to me, my car had been leaking small amounts of something in my parking garage at my apartment building. The (unreasonable) strata sent me a letter saying that I had to remove my car from the garage that day and get it fixed or it would be towed immediately. At 7:30 the next morning I took my Mini in to the service station without an appointment but they were able to see me right away, sort out getting an inspection done, and set me up with a very nice loaner Mini all fast enough for me to get to work in time. They did their inspection and let me know what was wrong within the day and gave me an extra day with the loaner car so that I could get my finances sorted as the repairs were going to be expensive. In general, the service station is comfortable, clean, there are soft drink and coffee, free wifi. and the staff are knowledgeable and never talk down to me which, as a young woman, I really appreciate. My Mini is 10 years old and I will keep taking it here until it dies. I love my Mini and the good service is a really great perk. read more

I first came into your location after test driving 3 other cars. The mini hadn't even crossed my mind for I was looking for more of a crossover SUV vehicle. However my husband was fond of the mini and wanted me to take a look. Upon entering your store, I didn't want to do anything but test drive to see if I even liked it. I didn't want some long winded sales pitch of all it's features. I met Philip and right away, I was in a car and on the road. Most sales agents take the ride with you to sell you on the features of the car. Philip simply gave me the keys to experience the car on my own. He was the only one to let me do this. I got to concentrate on the performance of the car without listening to all the details of what makes this car special. After the drive, I had some interest in the car. I sat down with Philip and he simply went over my basic questions. He didn't overdo the sales pitch of trying hard to sell me on the car. I had experienced other dealerships where I felt they were chasing me out the door. Let's just say I was annoyed with that. I left the store actually considering the Mini Countryman as one of my top choices. I received only one email from Philip summing up all of the information available on the car I was interested in and possible options should I choose to trade in my car ( as I forgot to mention this in our initial meeting). I also gave him my phone number with instructions that I really don't have time for phone calls. Philip honoured that request. I was so turned off by the other sales agents calling me after I specifically requested NOT to call me. He also did not send me repetitive emails. I understand it is a salesman's job to do the work for a sale, but sometimes, you just need some actual time to think on making a big purchase. It was ME who messaged Philip back with questions, which he replied to quickly. After my second test drive, the decision was made, it was the Countryman 100%! Philip made everything so easy ( as did Kelli in financial) that it was a great experience buying this car. I was really dreading this entire process but was absolutely thrilled. I have a very busy schedule and Philip was extremely accommodating to that. After all the paperwork was said and done, Philip sat in the car with me and showed me every single little feature of the car. I left feeling so knowledgeable on my car as opposed to figuring out "what is this button for" later. He really took the time make sure I knew the car well.
