If you are looking for a variety of meats in the neighborhood or don't feel like driving far out then Mini Mart likely has it. Prices are midrange pricey, but I've needed a turkey tail or Amish wings which they have. I would not buy anything off the shelves without unless I couldn't find it anywhere else. Why? $5.99 for some Kraft salad dressing I when I can drive to Meijer not far away is a deterrent. They accept cash, card with tap option, WIC and EBT. It's conveniently locks there are not really any meat markets on the Westside. Convenient hours and they post specials on their IG page. Expect it to be busy, but lines move fast. Place was very busy! I called before coming and was told they had JUMBO snow crab on sale for $19.99. I was VERY disappointed! The crab legs are SMALLER than the ones at Motor City Casino and look like the ones from the meat counter of Kroger. Their other meats look good and the prices were reasonable. I found this while looking for a good butcher. This is a small, humble but mighty little shop. There isn't the biggest variety of cuts but the meat is very good quality and good prices for the quality. There is a decent frozen seafood section as well as a variety of condiments, baking items, ingredients that you may need. There is not a big produce section. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I got prime rib, thick slabs of bacon, kielbasa, and a tbone. The prime rib and bacon was sooo good. read more

Mini Mart Specialty Meats was recommended to me by a co-worker. I was looking to purchase chitterlings. I called the store and I spoke with Jim who assured me his stores chitterlings were the best and clean. He was right! On 12/16 I entered the store. Met Jim and purchased 25lbs. Check out was quick and the bagger even carried my purchase to my car. Jim was correct, there was very little cleaning to be done. This store has a very friendly and helpful staff. Only reason one star rating on my last visit two employees, work ethic is less to be desired, one was on his phone while cutting my cheese and touch both items he denied but I seen for myself and the other guy was distracting him from doing his job talking to him while using the N word threw out is Convo, I found it very offensive due to his ethnicity, he threw the N word around I find that to be very disrespectfully. read more

I was very pleased with my 1st trip to a meat market in Detroit. I was in search of one item "Turkey Chops" and by the end of my spree I purchased more Turkey items that I was pleased with. This market was SUPER busy on a Sunday around 130pm and sort of Chaotic but they use a number pulling system that helped ease my anxiety of knowing I will not be fighting for next in line! Try the Turkey pastrami and Swiss cheese for Hoagies at home it will be worth the trip. read more

Yelpers, have you ever had a weekend where you were so broke, you could barely afford to pay attention? Have you sat home with an empty refrigerator and needed something to cook? Do you know where you can get good meat for cheap off hand? If you answered "yes" to any if those questions, Mini-Mart is the place for you! And, that is how I found myself there Saturday. I wanted chicken, and my money was low. So I thought to myself, why not go to Mini-Mart? Now, from the outside of the building, it looks like just another liquor store along West McNichols, nondescript from any other along that stretch (and there are quite a few, I've counted). However, when you go inside, you will find just the opposite. For one, they do not have liquor, and they barely carry beer and wine (I don't believe I saw wine in there, but I did see a small selection of beer and soft drinks). They have a small selection of groceries, including produce, toward the front of the store. The first aisle then leads you to the left, where, ahead in the back, there is a long meat counter. In a way, it will remind you of a cross between a local deli and something out of Eastern Market. You take a number, and when you are called, a friendly clerk will gather what you request. They also have other miscellaneous grocery items before you make another left for the checkout counter. Again, this grocery store is about the size and has the appearance of a liquor store, so if my description seems a bit unimpressive, that is because the store is a bit unimpressive. However, I promise you will be impressed by how little you spend at the checkout. A few words about Mini-Mart: for starters, the parking lot is rather small, and about half of it is unpaved. I am not sure as to whether or not they have the property rights to the unpaved portion, but on crowded days, be sure to bring your driving skills with you. Additionally, since their main business is the meat, do not expect to go there and get a shopping cart full of merchandise. There just isn't that much merchandise in there. Their produce is not the freshest, and some other items aren't really that great a deal over the regular grocery stores, however, if you have a family of meat lovers, the Meat Packs they sell will give you quite a bit for your money. Third, it pays to have a little patience while standing by the meat counter. Fourth, I do not believe they sell fish. Now, I wouldn't consider this a specialty grocer, but as far as any meat market goes, I think this is one of the better ones in the city. I go here for seafood on the low low. They also have all the meat you can think of. I think of it as a small meat market right off 6 mile.
