Bought a Dearborn ham for the 20th year in a row for the holidays. Paid $49 for it and opened it on Christmas Eve to serve and it was full of so much grizzle and fat that I was embarrassed to serve it. You can order all different types of sandwiches, but my personal favorite is their perfect spiral ham layered with high quality turkey lunch meat. They've got hard or soft sub buns, onion rolls, wraps and more. The employees preparing the sandwiches are always so friendly, as are the cashiers on the way out. In addition to the deli counter, the store offers their famous spiral ham by the pound, a variety of hot dogs and sausages, deli meats, frozen foods, prepare-at-home foods, snacks, drinks and much more. I really love the variety they offer. There's no indoor seating but they do have a handful of tables on their covered patio. Here are some of my favorites: 1) The fresh sausage (Obviously) - There are SO many varieties to choose from, and I recommend talking to the deli counter staff and asking them what they suggest for you. The classics are awesome, and you can't go wrong with their classic Brats, Knockwurst, or Italian Sausages. 2) DA HAM - Another obvious choice here, but this is perfect for a special occasion 3) The deli counter - They have great deli meats and cheeses, that you can get sliced fresh to take home. Super good and affordable. 4) Pierogis! - They have a huge variety of pierogis to choose from, and they freeze great! 5) The Sandwiches - The lunch/dinner sandwiches are killer, and make for a nice meal paired with some Better Made chips. I have been a fan of Dearborn Brand sausages and spiral sliced hams for decades! Honestly, they are king of the hill for spiral sliced ham - I have friends who went to Honey Baked ham and found out when they get home that Dearborn Sausage was the supplier. It's good to see that over the past few years, they have branched out into the local grocery stores and they have also opened satellite stores in the suburbs. Besides the spiral sliced hams, they have a large assortment of sausages, including my favorite - swedish Potato Sausage. Hot dogs are another offering, with quite a few varieties there, as well. A good selection of standard beef cuts round out the meat offerings. Many of the meat selections are available already boxed and ready to go, oftentimes in 5 pound boxes. I have noticed a 10-cent per pound price break on case orders. A great sandwich counter is also offered here - get some of the best sub-sandwiches in the area, made to order. Around the holidays, it's standing room only for their meats, and a 75 minute wait is not unusual. read more

Best place to get spiral cut hams! Or any ham products. I love all their homemade sausage products but my favorite has to be the sausage with little potatoes pieces in it. This is the only place I go for jerky. There are so many varieties to choose from. Always helpful and friendly staff and now newly remodeled so it looks bigger. Online ordering and delivery process is excellent. Even with possible meat shortages we received are order within a couple of days. The order was delivered within a day of the order being shipped. We loved their sausage and other products when we lived in Southeast Michigan. We moved across the state and can't find Dearborn smoked kielbasa on the westside of the state. Normally when we visit relatives we stop in the Roseville store. But with the stay hove order we won't be going soon. So we tried ordering online and having our order shipped. I just picked up a pack of Original Flavor Hunters Sausage Mini Stix from a local store and I was going to save them for later but I'm having trouble not eating the whole pack of them now. They are excellent. Dearborn Sausage makes the awesome hot dogs that go into some of the best coney island places like American Coney Island and the National Coney Island chain. If you are in Michigan I'm telling you skip the Slim Jim and go straight for these. The only problem I've had with some of the bigger sticks in the past from party stores is that they sit out too long and get dry. The mini-ones pack more flavor, maybe because they come packed in a thick plastic bag. Also on the 4th of July I picked up some of their dogs and also Kowalski natural casing. The Kowalski were slightly better I must say but in my opinion Kowalski is way up there,better than Koegel. Dearborn is not far behind, with great texture and flavor. If you live in Michigan I don't know why you would pick up any of the national brands except for maybe Hebrew National (which are kind of skinny and they put 7 in a pack, what's up with that!!!???) Just so you know, I'm not one of those shills that go around saying "Buy Michigan" just because it helps the economy, I like to point out what is good here or anywhere. read more

They made a pretty decent Italian sandwich when I came in today, not the best sandwich ever but better than I was expecting. Small store with a few items, nothing to exotic but well stocked on the basics. The prices are pretty good as well nothing seemed over priced in my opinion. I work pretty close to this place so I will probably keep dropping in from time to time. Without writing the great American novel, I will just say that when I am forced to drive over here by co-workers in my regular car, the sandwich counter women are always rude. It is really a coin flip on whether or not to put up with the rudeness in exchange for the great sandwiches. It is a well-known fact at the nearby auto maker, that they are brusque and put out by having to take your order and usually throw your bag of food on the counter. I wrote a complaint email to the management and they ignored it. The other people (cashiers, deli) are always nice and helpful. Very odd. I guess perhaps that the sandwich makers are relatives of the owners who feel kinda mad at having to make food for blue collar workers. I am way overdue on this review. Here is my lunch sub review, my friend! Stopped in on my way home from work to grab some subs from the lunch counter. These subs are made fresh as you wait and come in many different combos. Just get the Italian. Trust me. They build this on a sub bun (or hard roll if you like) and if you do nothing else, order double meat...omg....phenomenal! You will have a problem wrapping your mouth around this sandwich...and when you do, its an explosion of fresh flavor. You will be stuffed after eating one of these monsters, and I daresay Subway, Tubby's, and all he other sub places will become distant memories, once you eat a sub from Dearborn Sausage. No joke. Also try the Club Sub. Ohhh so good!! Good luck escaping this place without leaving more than sub money behind. All the fresh meats and cheese and sides will be calling out to your wallet! My first experience with Dearborn sausage is the hot dog cart in the shopping parking lot. Practically all year round, snow, rain, or summer heat there is a woman with a full hot dog cart on Michigan Ave. (near Michael's Arts & Crafts) selling hotdog and sausage combos for 2 and 3 bucks. Best hot dog I've had in a long while. So later on in life, I recognize the Dearborn Sausage Co. name while shopping at Westborn Market. The packages of sausage are A-1 grade. Totally Delish. This is a great place to get your Christmas and Easter ham. Always get the glazed spiral cut ham and it is always excellent. Also, wonderful smoked sausage and hotdogs. Buy their hot mustard to put on your ham sandwiches! Also a great deli and lunch counter. Can't go wrong. The service counter is always fast and friendly. Cashiers are also fast. You would think you would have a long wait right before Christmas or Easter but we have never failed to find a close parking place. read more

I purchased a half honey glazed ham that was 90% fat. Just laced with fat throughout. I cut out my UPC and sent my receipt to their main office asking for a refund or replacement. I never even received a reply. I would say to stay away from Dearborn meats as they do not back up their products. read more
