I've been looking for good "Korean-Chinese" food in this area without driving to Philadelphia or for more than 30 minutes... Ming's Chinese Restaurant provides just that! The noodles are spectacular and the sweet and sour pork hits the spot (it could be better). They also know what side dishes traditionally go along with our order (+1 for the restaurant being culturally aware). Finally, the staff provides great service and is very accommodating!...not to mention that they provide free hot tea. I'd give 5-stars to any place that gives me something for free :). read more

I had the most bland and tasteless brocoli in garlic sauce with the mushiest rice. The eggroll had nothing inside but mush. I have eaten here off and on over the years and it hasn't been good in 20 years. One time the beef in the beef with broccoli was literally crumb size. I was actually offended they would think it's ok to serve this and called to tell them. Same old tired excuse of new person cooking. There are much better options in the area - Asian taste in Huntington Valley and Horsham Chinese. Wing Lee is not as good as it used to be and now is mediocre at best and overpriced as well. read more

Delicious food! Have been going to Ming's since 2005. Recently ordered through GrubHub and food and delivery were perfect.

We have been to this place a few times since we moved to the area and absolutely love it, food is always fast and fresh. Service is great too, very attentive staff and always with a smile on their faces. If you go here, you can't mis the dumplings (we normally get the veggie ones). They are a most! They also have really good vegetable spring rolls. Their combination platter menu is a great deal! You get your choice of soup, an egg roll and a huge portion of main meal, which you could easily share (is that big!) They give you complementary fried noodle with homemade duck sauce and a delicious hot green tea. Last time here was this past weekend, I ordered the Vegetable Chow Mein and I gotta say that if you are into very health food this is for you.. for my taste I believe it was missing a little bit of flavor, but other than that, everything else we have ordered here has been very tasty. We went there for quick lunch just to see how it was. Started with a nice greeting of water and a pot of green tea and fresh fried noodles and duck sauce. Followed by a starter of wonton and egg drop soup both are very tasty and at a good temp for eating on the other hand the spring rolls and egg roll come out very hot with no complaints. And then some general tso's chicken but with my surprise it had just enough spice but not to make very hot and the serving was enough for two people. I enjoyed the time there and will absolutely return. It is a small quaint place inside but the atmosphere is nice. Very fast service. Greeted seated served and done in 45 minutes. This is absolutely the best and most authentic Chinese food in the area!! Everything is so fresh and the presentation was awesome! Our. first time here after trying 3 other places and we will definitely dine here again. From the teapot and cups on your table to the delicious sweet duck sauce and the hot hot mustard - the friendly staff and amazing food - guarantee you will enjoy as much as we did! we had the egg rolls, steamed dumplings, New York dinner(shrimp chicken beef pork and veggies) and my husband had General Tso's jumbo shrimp and chicken- more than enough so we took the rest home- ordered 2 more egg rolls and now have dinner for a second night! Excellent service and delightfully lighter fare at this BYOB. As an appetizer, we had steamed dumplings--the large combination assortment--and they were quite special. It featured three each of shrimp; chicken; vegetable; and pork. All terrific with extra thin skins--just the way I like them. We shared a chicken corn soup that was piping hot, and not overly starchy as in many Chinese restaurants. We also had Duck in Black Bean Sauce--crispy batter coated duck that could have benefited by additional sauce. The only drawback is the awful street parking--meters must be fed 9 to 9 PM in Hatboro. We did get a spot in front of the restaurant, but I'm not a fan of meter feeding, especially while I'm trying to feed myself. read more

Ming's use to be my favorite take out Chinese. The last couple times I went the food take out was sub-par. Tonight we tried one last time. The fried rice had no flavor, the wonton soup looked as if yellow food coloring was used in the broth as it had no flavor. An excellent Chinese restaurant in the burbs! The food tastes fresh and not overly salted or fried. The breaded chicken/shrimp dishes have a nice thin crispy crust. I came here last year for Christmas and there was a piece of wire in my mapo tofu but because of the nostalgic value I have fo this place I let it go but then I recently went again with my boyfriend and our spicy chicken was raw inside. We've been to this restaurant several times and this is the first terrible experience we've had. Staff is friendly, but servers overwhelmed during Friday rush. It took a good 20 min for our check to come at the end of the meal and that was because my husband went up and asked for it. The worst part bough the the metal piece I found in rice. I told the server who replied "it's a piece of the strainer. I told them to be careful". So they know it happens and have yet to remedy it. I'm thankful no one at our table ate this. I've been going to Ming's for over 10 years now and their food is consistently good. Not the prettiest place to go, but the restaurant is clean and cozy. They have typical American styled Chinese food, but they also have Korean Chinese food as well. It's probably hard for many to understand what that means unless you're Korean or have Korean friends... but I can't think of another way to explain it :P My favorites at Mings are: Tang Soo Yook - Deep fried pork or beef (you have the option) in a sweet and sour sauce. It's not your typical sweet and sour pork though, the sauce is a bit lighter and there is a variety of vegetables included in the dish. The breading is light and fluffy, but super crispy. Peking Noodle (Ja Jang Myun) - Noodles in a black bean sauce. Jam Pong - Noodles, veggies, and seafood in a spicy broth. If you can handle spicy foos, this is a great dish! Very flavorful and comforting. Combination Fried Rice - Great fried rice overall. Not too greasy and flavorful. Everything is very reasonably priced. The establishment is known in the Asian community for its ja jang myun - noodles in black bean sauce. Secondly, I'd recommend the Jam Pong - noodles in a spicy seafood broth. It won't taste anything like what you'd expect to find at your prototypical Chinese restaurant. When the raw onions and the yellow radishes come out, pour a little vinegar on them and eat it with the noodles. The savory and salty nodles pair nicely with the sour radishes. Some of the reviews stating about the blandness of the food make me wonder if they've ever tried traditional REAL Chinese food. Not to say that it's bland, but it's definitely a lot different than the surgared and flavored up "Chinese" food we have in America like General Tso's chicken. I ordered the pork dumplings and the house noodles (chicken, shrimp, pork and veggies in white sauce over crispy noodles) and found both rather tasty. Can you get cheaper Chinese food? yes. Especially if you're just looking for our typical take-away items....get a giant container full off of food for about 7-8 dollars from any number of other places. If you go here, don't just order General Tso's or Lomein. Try something different. ;-) The taste of my dish reminded me a bit of the more Indonesian influenced Chinese food I've had at the Chinese restaurants in the Netherlands. Some of the sauces are almost a bit more gravy-like, for lack of better explanation, and definitely lacking in the gooey, sticky sweet department. I also had the good fortune to work with a bunch of students from Beijing and they did some "homecooking" for us one night. Totally different flavors. :-) I'll be going back to Ming's. read more

Don't expect traditional American Chinese food here. They serve it, but it's really a Korean Chinese restaurant. Get the Jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) lunch special for $8.95. It's not the best in the greater Philadelphia area, but it is the best I have had in the immediate area. I also got the chicken/shrimp/eggplant with garlic sauce and honey walnut shrimp lunch specials (around $13 I believe). You get a soup, fried rice, and an egg roll for the lunch special. Beware, portion sizes are surprisingly small for the lunch special (that's why I gave it only 3 stars). The Jjambbong lunch special is the best value. read more

We have lived in town for a year now and we have never had to wait to be seated, quick service, friendly staff, and delicious food. No kid's menus, but it's served as family style meals; great for sharing. My daughter loves the sesame chicken combo and their egg drop soup. This place is underwhelming. 1) The restaurant smelled humid and moldy, similar to a basement. 2)The food was the blandest chinese food I have ever eaten. 3) For a dumpling house, the dumplings were not good. I had the combo dumpling platter to try all their dumpling types (pork, chicken, shrimp and veggie). The shrimp dumplings tasted very fishy like old shrimp. The chicken was bland. The pork was the best, but the dumpling wrapping was so thick on all of them and the amount of dumpling meat so little, that I could barely taste the chicken or the pork. 4) IT WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE for take out Chinese food. I am OUTRAGED at how good this food is. I have passed this place for years and never tried it until today. I got takeout which was ready extremely quickly. I got the chicken skewers, shrimp spring roll, and pan fried pork dumplings. The skewers were good but pretty average, but the roll and dumplings were AMAZING. We got there around an hour after opening, so it was pretty empty. Everything was very quick, we got our appetizers and meals within 15 minutes or so. It came with complimentary tea, but there was no flavor options, only one. The vegetable dumplings were a bit over cooked, but overlooking the color it was pretty good. I also got wonton mixed egg drop soup, it was very delicious. The Lo Mein was rich and filling, and I count not finish it. As we were finishing our meals it started to get more crowded, and it seemed to have one waiter working. It took a little while for us to get our check and leave toward the end. I haven't been to a neighborhood sit-down Chinese restaurant in ages. I forgot how great they are! Ming's is such a good neighborhood haunt. The minute you sit down, they bring over piping hot tea and crunchy noodles with duck sauce while you peruse the menu. We ordered the scallion pizza for an appetizer and the dragon ... something plate which had (HUGE!) shrimp with a tomato sauce and General Tso's-like chicken. We also ordered crispy beef. We had WAY too much food but the great thing about Chinese food is the leftovers, right? The scallion pancakes were yummy, especially when dipped into the sauce they serve them with. It was a little fancier than soy sauce, more gingery. Very good. I wasn't a big fan of the shrimp but they were good and crispy. The chicken was excellent and had a great kick. The steak was good as well but would have been better with some spice. Overall, a really great meal. the service was great, very personal and funny. Many Chinese restaurants have I visit over the years, but MIng's has stood out as consistently the best. Several things I have indulged in on the menu, but call me cliche, my absolute favorite item is the General Tso's Chicken. I have traveled far and wide to find an order of General Tso's Chicken that can come halfway close to that of Ming's, and I have yet to do so. It's crispy, the sauce is fantastic, the chicken is fresh, and the peppers add some much welcomed warmth! At the end of the day, take the time to make a trip to Ming's. My family just ate at Ming's. We waited and waited and waited for our food, and when it arrived, it came one plate and item at a time. The waiter and staff apologized that the kitchen was WAY behind (No kidding?). The service from the waiter was fine, but the kitchen must have been overwhelmed. Everyone at our table was very pleased with the food, but the kitchen must get their act together. If the service/kitchen had their act together, I'd rate the food at 4 or more stars...but this was WAY sub-par. I had a delicious tofu and vegetables. Excellent sauces. Brown rice and noodles, well above average. Bathroom could use lots of attention. Sink coming away from the wall in the men's room. Very dirty. Some of the best Chinese food we have had.
