I've been eating at Ming's since the early 2000's. The food was never fantastic- but it was good. Not anymore. My friends and I recently stopped in for lunch. It was pretty bad. So much has changed. The prices have increased considerably- by as much as $3 an item. The boneless ribs were loaded with fat. I would honestly say that one rib was made up of more than 50% fat. The combo plates now come with just an ice cream scoop-size of rice, even plain white rice. The meals are about two small palmfuls. I remember when the plate was covered with food. What did I learn from my recent dining experience at Ming's? The food is subpar, the amount is smaller and the prices are higher. If you like Chinese/Asian food as much as I do, skip Ming's. read more

Took years to finally try Ming's after hearing so many good things, and it didn't disappoint--though I've taken off a star for a mild spice level when we were expecting a bit more kick from dishes like the General Tso and Spicy Szechuan String Beans. Next time, we'll definitely be asking for extra spicy! The Crab Rangoon was a highlight, boasting a unique wrapper and generous stuffing, different from any other place we've tried. The service was decent; our server did her best despite managing the floor solo--taking orders, seating guests, and even handling phone calls. It was a bit of a wait for check-ins, which meant we needed some knives for the larger-than-expected chicken and shrimp pieces but ended up managing without them. This is my second time at this restaurant after having a very good first impression the first time around. We decided to come back bringing our grandparents to have them try the dishes here. Parking can be difficult to find as there is no dedicated parking lot from what I observed but we were very lucky to find some street parking in front of the restaurant. Ming's restaurant offers a very hospitable personable dining experience. The establishment is run by a lovely couple that have a mastery over Chinese-Korean fusion food. Because of our fairly large party of 6, we opted for the 8 course meal including a very unique dessert which is seldom served elsewhere if served at all. The vegetable soup was thick and filled your mouth with a viscous umami. The 3 drunken fairies dish is an acquired taste but was well appreciated containing an assortment of vegetables and seafood similar to the likes of the seafood delight however that was a more gravy focused dish which packed a punch. The side dishes consisting of chopped onions and pickled yellow radish were what you would come to expect however shine when paired with a splash of vinegar and dipped into the black bean paste. The marinated beef with sliced cabbage was super tender and had just the right balance of sweet and savory spice profiles. The honey walnut shrimp was unlike any I have had prior trust me on this one. The black bean noodles had a smoky taste to it that only good black bean noodles can provide. The spicy seafood noodle soup had a very rich consistency and was not spicy but spicy enough to handle with a deep satisfying broth with noodles cooked to perfection. The batter-fried pork (I think) was out of this world with a sauce that was sweet but not overpowering which let the golden batter and tender meat shine through. Every dish was so satisfying we cleaned all of the plates as neatly as possible. Nothing was left. What was surprising was that they served the candied/caramelized sweet potatoes for dessert and words cannot describe how happy I was to try this again as it is a very hard to find treat that HAS to be eaten freshly made. After seeing all the good reviews for this restaurant my family and I decided to try it. I gotta say that I was pretty let down. The food overall was just bland and lacked sauces that bring any flavor. I had gotten the Spicy Pepper Chicken and I found it strange that it was mushy and slimy. My parents had gotten the Kung Pao Chicken and they thought it was lacking in the flavor department. My girlfriend had gotten the Chicken Lo Mein and she thought it also lacked in flavor. Because of this along with the high prices I'm personally gonna have to give this place a pass going forward. It's been years since we got Chinese takeout. We were in Hatboro and decided to try Ming's. It was absolutely horrible. We ordered house mei fun, shrimp and lobster sauce, one egg roll and one spring roll. Nothing tasted good at all. We each had a few bites and threw the rest away. We stopped in Hatboro on the way to Hortulus Garden. We stumbled upon Ming's at lunch time, and we gave it a try. It was well worth the visit. Everything was totally delicious. We started with fried vegetable dumplings which were tasty, and it was a very healthy serving. I had general tso's chicken which was a lot for lunch for one, but does that really matter!? The chicken was so delicious and the batter was so crispy. The sauce was just right, too. Their food is good, although some dishes are better than others. I'm not crazy aout their won-ton soup or their eggrolls, but I do love their barbecue ribs and any of their many noodle dishes. Went last Saturday for take out. Got steamed dumplings, General Tso chicken and pork fried rice. Rice was ok. But dumplings weren't good as they were once, dough was too think, filling was mushy. This place is amazing. We were quickly greeted, everything was clean from door to bathroom. We were served a pot of tea and homemade fried noodles and 2 dips. All the dinner wear, matched! The waitress was so attentive. Within minutes the soup came out then the entrées. Everything was hot fresh and delicious. This reminded me of how Chinese restaurants used to be. One of the best place to get Jjajangmyun (black bean noodles) ! I come here often for my lunch breaks and the food is always so delicious! Even through only 2 ladies work as a server/cashier they're really fast! We always get our food really fast and they're always friendly! I love how everything taste so fresh here unlike some of other jjajangmyun places I tried in philly! You can either street park or there is a parking lot in the back which is really spacious! Sometimes when I leave the office little late for my lunch and I call ahead and she's always so friendly and makes sure my order is in right away so I can get my food right when I arrive! Stopped by Ming's on our way home from Philly. We were dying for Chinese food and our old favorite had recently closed. Knowing this location was here, after walking by it months earlier at the Hatboro car show, we decided to stop in. We were the only guests in the restaurant since we were there at an odd time, a late lunch 3 or 4 in the afternoon. The owner/waiter was very kind and had poured us all tea. We each got one of the specials which came with pork fried rice, soup, and an egg roll. There was plenty of food and it all was very tasty. I got the chicken with broccoli which was very good ! My mom got sesame chicken I believe. All of the portions were very large. The only thing I wish is that they would let you substitute the pork fried rice for anything else. My mom tried to get plain fried rice and she was unable to. I have not gotten take out yet, so I can't judge anything but my dining in experience. The menu is not very extensive so it made our choices easy. I will definitely go here in the future when I am in the Hatboro area again and maybe will try takeout. read more

COCKROACH!!! It pains me to write this review. Additionally, I rarely Yelp. However, in this situation, it is imperative that I bring this to the attention of any/all future patrons. In the attatched images, you will see what should be obvious... A cockroach! Also attached is an image of the receipt. Here's the rundown: Myself and a family member got $37 worth of to-go food to celebrate a successful move to the area. We always try to support small businesses. Upon returning home with said food in hand, I pulled the lid off my entree and simply rested it on top to allow the steam to escape so as not to burn my mouth upon consumption. I then went to retrieve a beverage from my refrigerator only to return to the entree noticing that the lid was no longer on top of the container. I didn't think much of it assuming that it had probably just slipped out of place. I preceded to mix the vegetables of my hunan chicken into the fried rice that came with combination platter. This is when the situation became alarming... The rice started moving on it's own! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Moments later, a cockroach the size of a quarter revealed itself and scurried across my livingroom floor. (Please refer to the images.) I'm sure that Ming's staff was unaware that the insect was buried within. But, the fact that roach that size even had access to the food is nauseating. (Literally) So, I had to throw out $37 worth of food and cook a meal myself. Lastly, I obviously can't comment on the flavor of the food; However, the vegetables in entree were massive! It looked as if they cut the peppers and onions in quarters. Each piece was the size of a Monopoly dollar bill. Now, I love my vegetables; But, seriously!? I simply can't get my head around this entire debacle. If, Ming's management reads this review. I would like my $37 back. In return, I will edit my review to acknowledge that they at least did the right thing by refunding my money. But, as of now, that is not the case. read more

Atmosphere - 5/5 Quaint place in the middle of a nice part of town. The wooden roses at the front are a nice touch--you can even purchase them! Pretty neat, I'd say. Cute little dishes. Service - 5/5 The service here is awesome. The people here are friendly and energetic. The upbeat nature of the people working here always put a smile on my face when I come in. Wonton soup was just OK, eggroll wrapper was thick and greasy, fried rice was mediocre, and my ribs were tasteless and had hardly any meat on them. I'd give the waitstaff a C. Far too closely on the heels of serving our soup, the entrees were served - which means it's a toss-up what food you'll allow to cool off before eating the other. The food here is decent. A local Chinese cuisine which had been around for a while that serves good food. The owner there personally cooks and his noodles are always a treat. Portion size is decent and it's the one restaurant where I think they use less msg than most; I don't feel sick or gross after eating their food. I got the sweet and sour pork dish which was in my standards, subpar. I would have preferred if they brought out the pork and sauce separately so that the pork doesn't get soggy. The breading was also a little bit too much that day. So... The food is excellent but the reason for my 3 star is because of the service. I had to wait a decent amount of time before the waitress came to check in on us. I wouldn't have mind the wait if there a lot of people but... The place wasn't as busy yet, service was slow relative to the work load.
