Situated on the top of a hill in the village of Long Ashton, which is surrounded by rolling hills and the beautiful countryside of outer Bristol (it takes less than 10 minutes to get here, but you can feel a million miles away from Bristol), the Miner's Rest is a good little find. It's a traditional pub to its core, with a good selection of local ales at excellent prices. It's got low, wooden beamed ceilings and open fires and just the kind of pub you can expect a resident dog to stroll around and gain affection from the ale supping clients.
The last time I came here it was on decidedly wintery night, and the pub did just the trick for an evening tipple in its cosy, warm atmosphere. They've got a few seats outside as well, so when the weather is good you can admire the view of the local rolling hills and countryside, and watch the sunset over the distant hills...(that is, whilst the planes land at Bristol Airport on top of the hill on the other side of the valley). A really good local pub. read more
