Pretty decent pub set in the countryside not too far of a drive from Bristol. In an attempt to try new pubs once a week since my move to the UK and also craving a burger (strange not too many pubs actually do burgers) we came across this place. The outside is nice and there is a decent looking garden but the inside could use a little bit of an update. Definitely not too much modernizing though as I like to have the old feel in a pub. The service was spot on even though it was getting quite busy in there, as we made a last minute reservation that afternoon we were only able to sit in the lounge, but that was perfect for us. We both ordered the burger with a slice of Stilton on top and sadly they were overdone. I'm not sure if all places do this, but they didn't ask how we wanted them cooked (not sure if that is customary in England as is in America?). Anyway, the burgers were huge and well seasoned with all the trimmings on top as well as a massive hunk of DELICIOUS Stilton, sadly just too overdone, very well done actually. They were served with really nice chips (fries for my fellow Americans) as well as a salad. For a bottle of wine, a garlic bread app (which was really good), and 2 burgers it was 35 quid, which in my mind is a very good deal. I would definitely recommend this place as other dishes looked nice and I'd like to come back for the garden when it's nicer out. read more
