I've been a long time member of Corepower so I've had my fair share of hot yoga, and it makes me appreciate the way that hot 8 operates - they have multiple types of classes - I tried Strength, Yin, Sculpt, and they're all fantastic. The membership feels so worth it because of the variety of classes and the multiple rooms/times available. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to the front desk staff - they helped me solve issues with my booking process (my fault) and were so kind/patient when exposing the different classes to me. Oh and shoutout to Allison Chiang - the Strength instructor. She brought the energy and spent time on form correction. So key! Finally - there's free parking with validation in the building! Makes it so easy to commit to the practice.

Yoga continues to be such an intimate lil' world. The Guide: Reza Samadhi * Heated OLY Flow We began with the breath: Five-count inhale. Six-count exhale. Reza gave us our point of focus: The breath. We moved slowly. Smoothly. Fluidly. Long poses invited us to deepen the breath. Flying transitions reminded us to keep breathing... until it felt like gliding. Eventually, we came down. In Seated Butterfly, Reza offered one more reminder: "Lean into your deepening." And then... that moment when something understood in the mind is experienced in the body. Lean into what's ready to open. Finally, ripe and ready for Savasana. Music off. Silence. The Tribe Callie's welcome made arriving easy. Improve concentration. At the top, the studio opens into: White walls. Dark wood floors. Exposed ceiling beams. Plants spilling from windows and shelves. Chairs gathered around fresh flowers. And Ganesha waiting just outside the yoga room. Summary We moved. We breathed. We deepened. The Shift "Lean into your deepening." There it was: A teaching moving from thought into experience. ‍ Yoga Field Note: Practice turns knowing into being.

At first I was excited since I live nearby and planned to start yoga as a self care practice. The lady who initially called me when I signed up urged me to start asap. I notified her that I was still sorting through my schedule as this is the first month of the school year so it's a bit busy on my end. She wasn't friendly so this made me want to put it off for even longer. Mind you, the trial doesn't start until the day I come in for my first session so I was under the impression that I had time. 3 weeks later, my trial that has been already paid for has "expired". I called and emailed, still no response. I'll be doing a charge back on my card since this is bad business practice. Even worse, when I had called them it's either the phone doesn't get answered or the guy who did answer was clueless about which direction I should take. Will not be recommending to anyone and hopefully I get my money back.

Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels.

Tara Yoga is exactly what I was looking for!…read more I've stopped working out when covid hit so I was looking for a smaller, boutique yoga studio to ease back into it. Tara Yoga is not like Yogaworks, which is more cookie-cutter taught by many instructors. This studio only offers a handful of classes a day, which to me, are conveniently scheduled, and are mostly taught by the owner, Tara. Classes can range from as little as 3 people to as many as 15, depending on the class you choose. During smaller classes, we can request what we'd like to work on, which I truly enjoy as it feels very personalized. Smaller classes are great after a 2-year work out hiatus. I absolutely love how Tara begins and ends her classes. She includes a calming chant, sometimes with instruments, and it feels very soothing for me to connect with the room. Payments and classes registration are all done online through the Mind Body app, which is easy and seamless. Classes are reasonably priced, and many types of subscriptions to choose from. We were also not gone for a month, she did not notify us of her absence so we waited outside over 10 minutes for class and then emailed her to ask why she didn't show up. The week after was the holidays so my girls had winter break for two weeks. However, I told her exactly when we will resume in which she did not disagree with and then when we showed up on 1/6, she doubled booked.
