    SAGE! Escape Room

I discovered this room from initially doing escape room research. The discussion I had with escape…read moreroom logistics got me interested to personally take on the escape room of Sage's. The puzzles and the game master interpretation was superb. There is a lot of hard work put into this escape room and for opportunities to work as a traveling escape room too. I got a chance to connect with one of the owners about competitive Scrabble, and realized one of my teammates was more into interactive fiction games and read choose your own adventure books just like me! We talked about other escape room potential to consider traveling to including the escape room convention in Boston. Also, Sage is working on another escape room- hopefully for Fall 2023. Wishing much success to this well thought out escape room company and all the blood, sweat, and tears to coordinate the advertising, stories and puzzles, and construction related logistics. If you are an escape room enthusiast or want to do a monumental quality escape room , you are missing out if you don't make it out to this one. Take public transportation and Lyft. Walk on awkward rural roads into suburban Phoenixville. Whatever it takes! You won't regret the exercise and the delicious food options awaiting you afterward either. If this review wasn't so hot, and if I didn't work with such a wonderful team, I might have ended up being purged! Aaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

I've never done an escape room before and Ben made the concept/theme easy to understand and was a pleasure throughout the experience. I was candidly worried I would be too old(38) to find it challenging or enjoyable but I really came away impressed and had a great time. I would absolutely do this again and highly recommend Sage! Thanks Ben!

There was some cool interaction with this room for a bit in particular. Another one, Vampires. even though also dark, was setup to light up at all the right times. Vampires is probably very highly rated for escape rooms in the country and was certainly one of my favorite experiences personally. Game master and staff have escape room running down to a science. This company has been here for 7 years and they plan to change Bikers theme soon. The entrance is a bit tricky to find as the website said to go down a set of steps on the side. While this is still true, you need to go down a different flight of stairs w a blue awning instead.

They did the reservations and everything so I can't speak to that. Upon entering one from our group checked in while two of us searched the lobby for handprints to get extra clues. We all signed our waivers and then were guided back behind the curtain to enter our room. The design was great. You really felt like you were in a bar and there was a lot of detail to the decor. We had a little trouble figuring out where to start but we were able to just ask our game master for a clue when needed. It is such a fun, hands on experience. The puzzles were fun. I enjoyed the variety and that it wasn't just figuring out combinations to locks. Unfortunately we didn't escape in time, but just a few more minutes and we would have had it. The four of us all had a great time and though. This was my first experience so I didn't have a lot to compare it to. However it was great and definitely made us fans of escape rooms. We have done one other since and definitely preferred the experience here

Because of the interest of my friends mainly, I was curious to see the differences between Blind Tiger Speakeasy here and the one in OBX escape rooms. The setup and price here is much better. I don't remember all the nuances, but I know the modifications done with KOP are much better. The beginning puzzle, they let you solve it intuitively in parts rather than expect the entire combination to be correct. This helps with playability and the fun factor. They have wonderful employees that work here. Jaden was no exception! I did catch on to some clues faster because even though I didn't remember exactly what I did with my group at the OBX one, I did have a faint inkling. At the OBX one, we didn't solve it but had help from a guide in the room as I was only in a group of 3, the room there required a minimum of 4, and we had to pick rooms that could serve physical accommodations there. I'm still "waiting" for some escape room in the general area to do escape the 90s. The closest one from my area right now seems to be Rochester, which is too far. I do pass by that way once in awhile, but being only one person makes it tough. . .

Booking online was super easy and we arrived to get a quick safety update and information and off to our room - The Pirate's Chamber. We had a really good time and were able to escape with about 10 minutes left. The decor and puzzles were challenging enough to keep myself and 2 kids busy, but also still able to make progress. We had so much fun that we ended up booking another room - The Mayan Temple for later (after dinner). That room was a little bigger and a lot of fun. I think both rooms offered a great mix of puzzles and allowed for group and individual work. Perfect mix. As a tip be sure to count the ducks in the lobby in case you need an extra clue (not that you can't get one without a little fun)!!

The game masters were a little bit too picky about not solving locks by trial and error even if you have, say, 3 of 4 numbers and you that last 10 numbers on the missing number. Sure you could have the wrong position for any of the other three as they said but you could also have the positions correct. I have done this at a few other escape rooms if we couldn't find the clues for all numbers and especially if there was a time crunch. We got second place for Mayan Temple for the quarter and totally unexpected.
