    Ramen and homemade lemonade tea.
    GoodEats M.

I was strolling in old town hitting two birds with one stone - get a few miles exercise and doing a city walk tour. Got a little lost and walked past Min Ramen. It has a nice atmosphere and the food was good. I would've enjoyed more if it had my favorite food SUSHI. The waiter was very friendly and he spoke perfect American English though he looked Asian and lived in Germany. Very unusual don't you think? I was waiting for him to tell me he studied in the USA or something, but nope. I had the lemon tea because it was a hot day. The tea is ok. I would've enjoyed more if it had more ice but to do that they need to get a bigger class. I would recommend that they serve it like American Southern Style- which would be awesome (big class jar with lots of ice and a little sweeter). Not many have that experience. I'm sure their customers will love it and be impressed with a memorable experience.

No service, bad attitude, horrible food. Help!…read more The wait: 5pm, after seated, needs to wait 15mins before anyone ask us to order, then another 45mins past before food arrives, and deliver to wrong party on the same table. So we need to wait even more. The seat and temperature: seat has no back and hard plus super hot inside during this energy crisis. Outside is 34F but indoors is 83F! Food: noodles are a big lump. What kind of ramen is that? Tasted bad. Just don't waste your time and money.

Well the inside was quite busy, but I found a seat in the middle of what I would call a communal table, which was fine by me. I was immediately handed a German menu, which is fine as I can somewhat make out the ramen choices. The problem came when the waitress arrived and began to speak German, which I am nowhere fluent in. I tried to explain that I do not speak German, but she became upset and ultimately walked away. I found out later buried in the middle of the table were English menus, oh well! Kind of odd as I was doing my best to point to what I wanted to order. I flagged another staff member down who informed me that my order had been placed. To my surprise the right items magically appeared after 15 minutes, so that was a sigh of relief. It looked good and smelled good, which was a positive start, but sadly the pork belly ramen and veggies was just not on point. The broth was a little underwhelming and pork belly was not too tasty. Do not get me wrong, it was decent, but not what I am used too. I will say the meal portions were quite large and the overall menu pricing was fair considering it is located in a touristy part of town. Sadly, later I found out our waitress who really could care less about assisting us spoke fluent English, go figure. Not really pegging a star for it, but you are in a business that should strive for customer satisfaction, oh well.

Lots and lots of Ramen you have never seen before! Different kinds of sauces and Asian seasonings. They also have lots of snacks. They are always busy too. They are very helpful as well and speak a little English but very very well. I was looking for Chinese cooking wine and Asian broth for wonton soup and they had everything I needed. To me, their prices are reasonable and cheaper. Some things such as kimchee base (Japanese brand) was a bit pricey. But everything else was very affordable. I ride the S-Bähn from Vaihingen to to Arnulf-Klett-Platz. It's in a very busy part of downtown and parking is not cheap and not easy to find. As typical, quite a lot of items were forgotten (meaning never delivered to our table) so we re-ordered those. Some items showed up much later... Salmon and tuna nigiri were plain this time... We've learned our lesson - don't visit Kahori with a large group. Too many items end up missing in action, everything's placed on the same plates for sharing, and sometimes the waiting after ordering is quite long. On the plus side, the unagi was wonderful as usual. I'm happy to say I knocked down 17 pieces of unagi nigiri.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO!…read more Beware. Eat at your own risk, but I would recommend going somewhere (anywhere) else. When you walk in, the room is clean and looks nicely decorated. The hostess brings an iPad over and explains how to order. 'Order as much as you want, but no leftovers.' Ok. So I can't take any food home, right? Wrong. They will charge you for any food you do not eat! On top of what they charge you for the food in the first place! I'm all for not wasting food, but this feels like a scam for several reasons. Reasons this feels like a scam: 1. The sushi is 90% rice. Nigiri, huge rice ball topped with mushy fish. Rolls, way too much rice wrapped around mushy fish with brown avocado, mayonnaise and dried out out imitation crab meat. Topped with discolored tuna. Tasted as bad as it looked. 2. Gyoza. This was a fundamental nightmare. Undercooked, swimming in oil, falling apart and completely lacking in texture. 3. Tempura. Neither the shrimp nor the vegetables were coated in an actual tempura batter. The shrimp were coated in panko breadcrumbs and the veggies were battered in something thick and heavy. Tempura should be light & crispy. Not swimming in oil, heavy and dark dark brown. ~Remember....no leftovers!~ 4. Shrimp. Poopy poopy shrimp. See my picture for proof. And mushy. No texture whatsoever. Disgusting. 5. Egg rolls and spring rolls. Burnt on the outside, more weird tasting filling and undercooked dough on the inside. 6. Beef noodle soup. Ramen noodles like from the package overcooked to the point of disintegration, making the broth cloudy and starchy. I couldn't pick the noodles up with chopsticks because they kept getting smushed. Beef was chewy and slimy. Another nightmare of cooking techniques. Whoever runs the kitchen is doing not just a bad job, but the worst job. There were so many fundamental screw ups with this meal that I'm shocked this place is still open. When we decided to pay, the hostess came back, looked at the table and said 'oh, we charge for the leftovers.' What?!? No. I told her why we didn't eat the nasty food and she told us we should have told them before we got ready to pay. She said: 'I TOLD you no leftovers!' I told her it was clearly not our fault the food was bad and we COULDN'T eat it. Pointed out all the problems and she told us to just go, it was okay. 'But next time, tell us sooner.' Lady, there will certainly NOT be a next time. I'm sorry there was a first time. Stay away! Your wallet and stomach will thank you.
