Our favorite Korean restaurant, great japchae decent service. However, the hours they are open are random, and the serving size seems to be pretty different between dine in and take out. Highly recommend the yaki mandu and japchae, whatever google and Yelp say for hours are more of a best guess.

Didn't want to have any more schnitzel and found this place, which is conveniently located on the corner near the Berliner Platz U. Since I was driving, I was able to find parking about a block away. Make sure you pay for parking. Since it was a very hot day, we tried to sit outside, but it was too much. This place is basically self service, so it's convenient if you just want to get something quick. We ordered the beef and pork bulgogi, which comes in just the right amount to for a meal, though I could have used more rice. You have to order kimchi, which is annoying. No alcohol is served and didn't ask if I could buy beer down the street. I also appreciate that they take credit cards. As it's getting cooler, I'm definitely going to go back there again.

The food was as good as a hearty home cooked meal. It does not get much better outside of Korea.

The rice was a bit over cooked and so were the mandus but I the flavor was there and I got a big satisfaction from eating there.

This restaurant has a…read morenicer ambiance and better suited if you have a group or looking for a more upscale place to have dinner. It's also right by the Schloss-/Johannesstraße U, so it's easy to get to. Found it a little challenging to figuring out the appetizers and entrees (naturally the more expensive items). Ordered the chicken bulgogi since I've been eating way too much meat and pork in Germany. Asked if it could be prepared in the back, but they still cooked it at the table. The waitress seemed unsure of what to do, so another waiter had to jump in. Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked the side dishes (super small portions) and lettuce, but had to ask for the red pepper paste. They have beer and soju. Also, they take credit cards. Saw comments complaining on the cost. Did see the pre-fixe menu and it can be pricey, but if you're looking to sample a lot of food, then it makes sense. I went a la carte, which I think is better.

We ordered some more starters from the menu and they fired up the grill. We had rice dishes, bbq dishes, and soups. All of the food was really fresh and tasted soooo good. The staff was showing us how to eat the dishes correctly. Loved it! Definitely a place I will come back to!

I wasn't expecting decent food. Just the sight was a turn off at other tables. But I thought it would be edible? We ordered 4 things. Even the Banchan was puzzling. It's like, the old lady that works back there never had authentic Korean and just figured she can make some stuff watching YouTube. Just because you're Korean doesn't mean you can just open up a restaurant and call yourself a Korean restaurant. I was appalled. Poor tourists.. just wait til you're somewhere else for Korean food.

We didn't get anywhere near the variety of side dishes offered in restaurants in LA. Instead, there was only 3 small side dishes of pickled radish, kimchi and bean sprouts...quite a disappointment way to start a meal. We had the veggie bibimbap and the beef with noodles. The bibimbap was nicely cooked in a stone pot and it was sizzling hot when it arrived at the table. I liked all the vegetables in there. The beef with noodles dish was mediocre and it was missing some seasoning. Overall, Soban serves good quality Korean food in the middle of Heidelberg. However, It didn't live up to the hype as other reviewers mentioned.

The only okay thing I can say is that the service is decent. Garlic grilled chicken (2/5) this is borderline 1/5 but at least it's edible. Chicken was not cooked consistently. Hmm why? There were chicken pieces of a range of sizes so they didn't cook evenly. Also I could barely taste the garlic. The chicken also didn't have texture as it didn't seem to be grilled. If that chicken was served to me on a plain white dish, I wouldn't be able to tell if it were stir fried or boiled. Minus points on all 3 fronts: texture, flavor, and consistency. Saving grace is that it's edible Seafood pancake (2/5) Similar comments to garlic grilled chicken. Bland and no crunch/texture. It felt as if I were eating an enchilada but with even less texture. Barely any seafood in there. Bland. Same comments as chicken Price was also not justified by what you get
