Given the current state of Covid, we were uncomfortable in this setting; waiters wearing masks was hit or miss, some of them were better at covering mouth and nose than others. We ordered beers and food, and quickly asked if we could just get the food for takeaway instead of dining in. They said yes. We drank our beers and waited...and waited...and waited. At least one other couple came in after we did, were seated and served their dinner and were eating for probably 15 minutes before our order was ready. It wasn't a complicated order, a summer roll and some pad Thai. We took it back to our hotel and ate it, it was good. To sum up: Positives: accommodating staff, tasty food. Negatives: spotty Covid precautions, fully packed low ceiling hot upstairs, took forever to get our order.

There aren't many good Sushi places around the Heidelberg / Mannheim area. Most are cheap and low…read morequality, like KOI in HD. This however is a really good Sushi place! Fish was pretty good quality, years better than most other places around (yet not as good as in coastal town, no surprise though). The cuts of fish were pretty good sized, not that super thin crap you get at the cheap places where it's mostly rice. The mini round river with boats and Sushi on top at the central bar was really cute. We ordered off the menu though, got the second largest Set with sashimi, nigiri, rolls... Everything was delicious, especially loved the one roll and their thick sashimi pieces. Added 2 maki rolls and one handroll, also all very good. We were both full at the end of the meal. Food plus 1 bottle of water came out at €54. So basically €27/person for great sushi, definitely fair price and totally worth it. It's not a huge place, I can see it get really busy on the weekends so you might want to make a reservation. We were there during the week for dinner and it was about 2/3rds full. You're amazing! The staff is very kind and knowledgeable, plus they speak English. Our waitress was attentive and sweet so huge props on customer service, since it's a bit different in Germany compared to states. The atmosphere in Hiami Sushi Bar is very cozy and warm, we sat by the window and watched the rain, so it was truly perfect date mood. It's a fairly small place, with intimate setting, so that's something to consider before coming there. We ordered salmon miso soup and in a weather like we had that day it hit the spot. Maybe it was a warm sake that we had, which is perfect pairing for sushi all time any time. We ordered chef special, it was a way to go since we were happy with every piece of sushi that we had. So highly recommend if you don't know what to order, yet feel super hungry. Chefs special is great choice for two in case you're having a date. Also I have to add that I'm not big on tempura, but oh boy the roll I had was scrumptious! Just the right amount of crunch and fresh combination. Defines you going to order tempura again. Very close to authentic korean food. The interior is very clean and spacious. The restaurant felt like it was newly opened recently. The service was very good. Although there was only 1 male server waiting and hosting, he did a good job of asking if we needed anything, three times during the meal. (We were there after 9pm, the late timing might explain the solo server.) The food was the most authentic korean food we have tried in Germany thus far. It still wasn't quite as good as in the States or Korea, but considering how many korean places we have tried in Germany (berlin, dresden, frankfurt, stuttgart, mannheim, born, heidelberg...), it was awesome. The price is €€~€€€, it wasn't expensive but it was more than the average. All in all, great korean restaurant. Hope it stays open a long time. Highly recommended.

We were a pretty big group of seven, and it did take the servers a while to get all our drinks and food out to us. That said, the food itself was very good for being a Pan-Asian restaurant smack-dab in the middle of Germany. The larger main courses were more in the varietal Teishoku style, and their sushi rolls were as good as any you'd eat in the San Francisco Bay Area (which is to say ... pretty good!). The one thing that put a bit of a damper on the dinner for me was that I'd ordered a half-liter of beer, and asked once again if it was coming out as it had been a while. Well, two different servers returned with a half-liter each, so I had to gulp down a liter of beer in front of my friend's family which probably didn't look so good. :-P Other than that, Vinami was very good. I would come here again, only next time I'll be sure to ask ONE person for a beer and ask only them if it takes a while to come out.
