We decided to try this place after working an appetite exploring around La Petite France. Although there were plenty of restaurants in the area, we were craving for some Asian comfort food. The place was busy but got seated right away. The atmosphere was pretty hip and modern that matches the vibe of the staff. They offer soups, salads and other Asian fusion items. Wandered around the old town - was sorta having a plan to head somewhere else but since this place was hopping on the terrace, I decided to go! Great choice. Found one solid vegan and sans gluten dish (a yellow curry). The price was fair for food though I felt the wine prices were a little high (6euro and not all local like many places in the area). The main benefit was the ordering! It's great for travelers in many languages. Their menu is in a few languages even beyond French German English, and then you can add the items you want to your cart and show it to the waiter so there is no confusion. I think that is a great idea since I definitely ordered a few things during my travels I did not intend to. Easy to pay by card and also didn't feel too sad alone as there were single folks seated next to me at little tables and we all got to face the courtyard. Would I rec for solo or groups but you might need to wait for a table outside on a beautiful night! read more

East Canteen is an Asian Fusion restaurant in Strausborg. My wife and I went for dinner during a vacation in the area. We were sat almost right away on a drop-in, we sat at a table with our two small dogs. We had the Squid Okonomiyaki, the assorted Korean chicken wings, and vegetable tempura mix. All the items were prepared well, not too salty or oily. In the end we had some Okonomiyaki leftover that we took with us take-away, which could be because we've been eating a lot this trip. I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff were very hip lol and do speak English, German and French if needed. I ordered the Laksa and it was amazing -- udon in a coconut curry flavored broth. My dad and I stopped here around dinner time and got sat almost right away. We also ordered the Zhurou Baozi and it was a great starter for two people :) A perfect pan-Asian stop if you're craving some in Strausbourg! read more

Worst service ever. My wife and I are from the states (could be why our service was terrible), our waiter was a young boy with an 80s haircut who never brought us our water after we asked twice, never checked on us, and our food took 30 minutes to arrive. It looked like he forgot about us and passed us off to another waiter or two. There's no supervision here and no one to complain to about the bad service. The food was great but I will not come back here again. Maybe in America service is important or maybe it's because people actually work for their tips where as here in France, servers don't give a shit. Will not return and they should fire this kid. Good, fresh Asian fusion fare in a quiet neighborhood. Lots of seating outside with an awning for shade when necessary. Sampled lots of smaller dishes: gyoza, baozi, tempura veggies, and dak-gangjeong. Good and tasty, liked the dak-gangjeong and the baozi the best. East Canteen is so delicious!!! The staff is super friendly, and all of the food was very flavorful. I highly recommend the shrimp with curry and coconut milk. The Korean fried chicken was sweet and crunchy, and the crunchy salad was a refreshing component to our meal. If I had to complain about one thing it would just be that my drink was a bit watered down upon arrival, but everything was truly delicious!! read more
