BYO-style - Soja bouillon, les ramen, chashu pork, œuf mariné, tofu, et oignon vert Karaage for entree

I'll start by saying there was nothing wrong with the service (friendly and speedy!) and the place itself is pretty neat. We especially appreciated the cute manga library accessible by patrons. It never got too loud or despite being pretty full so it's good for date nights too. But the ramen itself was lackluster. The ramen is Build Your Own style, so I had ramen with soja/tsuyu broth, chashu pork, and various extras. The broth was decent but the pork was really disappointing. Chashu should be very fatty but what I got was exclusively very dry meat (no fat). The œuf mariné/ajitsuke tamago was also overdone. Noodles and other items, including the karaage appetizer, were just fine but I think this shop really needs to improve the meat offering.

    Chashu Ramen (10€)

I was on a 10-day study abroad in Strasbourg back in 2015, and after days of eating bread and European-style food (which is delicious of course), I really wanted a change of pace. I convinced two of my friends to come along, and we discovered Ramen Shop. Their menu is BYO-style, in which you pick a base ramen, the type of noodle, the soup base, and then 4 different toppings. From my experience, the ramen does not seem to be super authentic, and the broth doesn't really have a deep and rich flavor. Instead, they seem to have approached ramen from a different standpoint. The broth is pretty light and the toppings have more of a "fresh" taste. Also, the meat was more like ham than chashu. I don't know if this is to cater to local tastebuds or possibly from a lack of access to normal ramen ingredients. Overall it was still good, and honestly better than what I was expecting. So as long as you're open to trying a somewhat different flavor, I think this is a good option if you happen to be craving ramen in Strasbourg. Disclaimer: things may have changed since I was there.

Pork Katsu bento set was delicious and filling. Service was quick and friendly. Great value was the best thing!

Exterior is unassuming and off the beaten path. A hidden gem.

Really delicious, especially with the fried chicken. Best on a nice afternoon when you can sit outside, but great nonetheless.

Dear restaurant owner, consider CLOSING your restaurant if you don't have the food on your menu…read moreavailable. Today is Saturday, I've come for lunch, drawn here by the positive reviews and the creative sushi rolls. Upon reviewing the menu I found all the rolls I wanted to order. Unfortunately the menu in the restaurant says that the specialty rolls can only be ordered at night and not during the day, why? I asked for an exception was told no, despite the fact that the only order the chef was working on would be mine. Second, I decided to choose something from the 'nouveauties' menu, then was told that the items were unavailable. Leaving only the standard sushi choices that every other damn sushi restaurant in France sells. I've decided to take the cheapest item on the menu as I'm hungry and need energy. Thank you Yonako for a truly forgettable experience. #FAIL

We took the "samurai" boat for two, which includes sushi, maki, sashimi, and 4 skewers! As well as a miso soup and cabbage salad as the entree, and the customary bowl of rice. Their fish was very fresh and tasted amazing. Especially their dorade and great scallop sashimis. Except for the cheese one, which was somewhat mediocre, the skewers were all very tasteful and juicy. The miso soup and cabbage salad weren't anything extraordinary, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. We took three desserts, and I especially recommend their "coco pearls". It's two little balls of egg yolk stuffed glutinous rice paste covered in coconut. It's one of their (if not the) cheapest dessert on their menu, but still blows their more expensive desserts out of the water. The place itself is quiet, and although not high class, it has a nice atmosphere to it. All in all, it's very high quality for a very fair price.
