After having eaten lovely French food the whole weekend, we were ready for something a little lighter. After visiting the Christmas market we ran across this small sushi place behind the Cathedral. Since I was not in my three-hour lunch mode anymore, I found the service quite slow. The decor was modern, almost fast food like. The waitress was Asian but obviously not Japanese. When I ordered the sushi pieces by their Japanese name as they were written on the menu, she appeared to have trouble understanding. We only ordered a few things and the final order was not even correct; she had brought us Saba (mackerel) instead of Maguro (ahi tuna). Of course they were gracious about exchanging it. The sushi was of excellent quality. The pickled cabbage salad I ordered was wonderful. But it certainly did not taste Japanese. Instead it was of excellent German Krautsalat (coleslaw).
I wish we had this quality of sushi where we live in Landstuhl, Germany. read more
