This was my first time to the USVI and Mim's was the highlight of our trip when it comes to food ! My friends and I received a recommendation to come here from a group of people on the beach so we decided to give it a try. The setting was BEAUTIFUL ! Perfect location right on the beach . The service was EXCELLENT - the servers treated us so personably and were extremely accommodating. We came on a Monday and their shipment of cream hadn't arrived yet, I wanted to order the lobster in the curry sauce and my daughter wanted to order the seafood pasta . We were originally told that it wasn't going to happen (which we totally understood) The server noticed that we were a little let down and unbeknownst to us went and talked to the chef who said he had just enough left to get me my order ! We all took our orders and maybe 10 minutes after she came hurrying back to the table to let us know that the shipment of cream had just arrived and that if my daughter still wanted pasta they'd whip it up for her - she went above and beyond to make sure we were all accommodated ! The food was DELICIOUS ! We were a party of 6 and not one of us had a complaint , everything was spot on including dessert . Definitely the best meal of our trip ! The curry lobster was sooooo tasty and was full of lobster - I've never had anything like it ! Lastly the staff was super busy but still stopped what they were doing to take a group picture of us - I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting ! read more

If not for the amazing view and great service, I'd give this place a 3-star review on account of the food being just average. For a romantic evening, make sure you request one of the crescent-shaped tables on the deck closest to the rail on the ocean side -- the view over the crashing waves on a clear night is pretty remarkable. We got the Crab Dip and Tostones to start, both were ok but not as good as I would expect from a fine dining restaurant. For our main we split a large lobster (baked and stuffed vs the curry option) that was overcooked and chewy. The drawn butter is also very salty -- it tastes like the butter they provide with their bread, just melted. Our server (Beth) was great though and despite being attentive and reasonably fast, she apologized for the waits (which we really didn't think were an issue anyway). I think other guests were giving her a hard time which is a shame because any actual waiting I'm sure was due to them being short staffed (it was only her and one other server for the entire outside area; at least 12 tables) rather than a reflection of her service. read more

This is really a two part review. The first night we got to the island we needed some food and this is downstairs. This bartender got us set up at the bar and took our order and got our drinks going and was one of the best bartenders in the business as far as I am concerned (I have worked in bars she was top notch) if I could rate just her it would be a five star. All my food was correct and drinks were superb...food was to go as you need reservations for anything else. I get that. Night two...since we got such great service we were going to just pop back in from a long day and grab something maybe a drink or two and go. She was busy so we patiently waited for a moment and a waitress approached us and asked if we had a reservation. I said no but we were wanting something to go because the food and service was so good the night before. She had me follow her and we went to what I assumed was the service manager...big woman...big and apparently unappreciative that the night before I drop $400 there on a to go order. Looked me up and down and said to my face in front of other customers that my order was not her problem. This woman should be fired and the bartender put in charge since she clearly had what it takes to run this business successfully. I went to Iggies down the beach. read more

We had called ahead for a table on a Tuesday night for a group of 11, the soonest they could get us in was in 2 hours. This was to be expected and understandable due to the large party size. But, when we were taken to our tables they had to separate tables and had to split up when we had this planned for our last group dinner. We then had to wait 20 minutes for water- which came in little plastic cups and all the other tables had plastic glasses for water. We then waited 45 minutes for cocktails. & another hour for our appetisers. We didn't see our server for long periods of time and had to ask other staff members for help when we needed something and they wouldn't help us either. They also don't allow you to separate checks and add a mandatory 15% gratuity. Overall, service was slow, food was less than subpar and we all left disappointed. read more

Mim's is a small restaurant tucked away by some condominiums. It's easy to overlook. The restaurant is right on the ocean and just a wonderful dining environment. We made a reservation and were promptly seated upon arrival. Our waiter was nice, but he certainly seemed inexperienced. For appetizers we ordered the crab dip and tuna tartare. The portions were small compared to the price, especially for the crab dip. We could have probably done without that. I'm not a fan of tuna tartare, but I did try this appetizer and was impressed. Great Asian flavors and fresh tuna. We also ordered two Caesar salads. Again, small portion for the price, but I was craving a salad. They happily accommodated a shrimp fra diavolo for my mom (the entree on the menu was a seafood fra diavolo). She enjoyed the dish and the portion was okay (no leftovers). My husband and I split the coconut curry lobster. We got the medium sized lobster on the recommendation of our waiter. The flavors were to die for. One of the best seafood entrees I've had anywhere, ever. And we eat a decent amount of seafood. They half the lobster, take the meat out and toss it in the coconut curry. The lobstery goodness is then placed back in the shell. Our lobster was a little over 3 pounds and was the perfect size for us to share (and we are big eaters). It's served with a potato (we chose rice) and a vegetable medley. Pro tip: if you get the lobster, make sure you get the extra meat out of the legs. It will melt in your mouth. Yes, the food is a bit pricey, but I chalk that up to dining with a view. Yes, the service can be slow, but I'm on vacation, do I really have anywhere else I need to be? No. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view. read more

We went to Mims on our last night in Saint Thomas. All I can say is that we wish it would've been our first. From the moment we walked up we were greeted by very friendly ladies who sat us at our "special table." It's a waterfront restaurant and the views are pretty. On the nights before, we visited Oceana and also the Old Stone Farmhouse. The customer service we received at Mims, surpasses that of these other 2 places by A LOT! Joann was a total sweetheart and an overall excellent human being. There are things that can not be faked. I can see why the owners would want her with them forever. The food was delicious and everything was served promptly and with love. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back! Mim's is an oceanfront terrace restaurant at the Watergate Villas condominium complex; which is a series of three story buildings. As another reviewer noted, it's not a luxury resort setting, it's a condominium complex, and these condominiums are well tended, but not luxurious. However, Bolongo Bay is beautiful and the eastern side of the bay and the land all the way down to Long Point is undeveloped, so the view from Mim's patio on the harbor is of green hills and rocky cliffs down to the beautiful turquoise water. The view and breeze were excellent! We tried to get a reservation Friday afternoon for that evening, but were unsuccessful. We've been told by several people that St. Thomas is crowded this pandemic summer because the island does not require a quarantine period as many neighboring islands do. We ordered carry out and got potato skins (not particularly flavorful) steamed shrimp (spiced nicely and cooked properly), and the blackened ahi with rice and mixed vegetables. The ahi wasn't blacked in a traditional way but was very good, the spiced rice was salty, and the vegetables were good but they looked more like a garnish than a portion. Prices were higher than I expected, but it's an island. The bartender and hostess were very friendly, which was good because it took a while for our order to be filled. read more

Best meal I've had in years. I had the baked lobster, shrimp cocktail and mussels with herb butter: all were beyond amazing. Eating this food is a transcendental experience. I met Jesus with every bite I took. Beyond this, Shamara was beyond welcoming. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home. So sweet, and meeting her was genuinely the highlight of my trip. A very sweet soul that made everyone in our party laugh. The location is gorgeous: you hear the waves crashing while you eat. Overall, vibes were immaculate. The food, unparalleled. VIEW/AMBIANCE - the restaurant is by condos and you need to park at the top since the parking below (by the restaurant sign) is for tenants and you risk being towed. The view from this restaurant looks great but they're only open for dinner and in mid October, the sun sets early so we couldn't see anything. But the sound of the surf is pretty great! Also, heads up that the "inside" seating isn't actually inside but is covered by a roof. The "outside" seating is outside by the pool. Overall, definitely a unique spot and I'd come back! FOOD - we split the crab dip app and an $80 coconut curry lobster. The crab dip was fishy and awful. I hate wasting food but couldn't force myself to have more than a couple bites. The lobster meat was delicious and plentiful but the curry sauce was unbelievably sweet. The entire table tasted it and agreed it was way too sweet. I was shocked it was so highly recommended when it borderline tasted like a dessert. If someone warned me it's sweet and I'd ordered it to be half as sweet, I think it'd be a delicious dish. DRINKS - we ordered tropical drinks and they were delicious but on the weak side. SERVICE - on the slow side but if you're on vacation, sit back and relax and enjoy the view/sounds. If you go here get the seafood bisque!! That was the best bisque I have EVER had. It even tasted great reheated as leftovers the next day. You will not be disappointed. I didn't much care for the frog legs. They had some flavor but were a bit slimy on the inside to be honest, not a fan. Our server was very kind but the service was slow. We got seated an hour after our reservation time. We did not receive water at our table for over 30 minutes of being seated and even then it was served in plastic cups while every other table had glass cups... Absolutely disappointed. My family and I came here for our last night in St. Thomas. After waiting 40 minutes after our reservation we were finally sat. Menus were delivered to us 20 minutes later. Our order was then taken 30 minutes later and drink order 20 minutes after that. After the long wait times we finally ate out food and it was subpar. They did have good deals on beer, but the inside of the restaurant was not worth the $$. I ordered chicken parm, and I'm still not entirely sure my chicken was cooked all the way through. There was also literally no sauce on my pasta. I know we had a larger party, but nonetheless service was horrible and they didn't take our drink orders until 30 minutes after we sat. To top off the dinner, someone in our party ordered crab and shrimp pasta and it made him sick for hours following dinner. Buyer beware do not spend your money here. My wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner right on the water. You cannot find a closer table on the water anywhere on the island. I had the curry lobster tail and it was very good and my wife had the steak. The service was wonderful and the view is top-botch but for the money, the food was okay. We are locals here and we go out a lot during the week so we know how expensive every meal can be. For the price there are other places that we would prefer to go but if you must have curried lobster baked in the shell, then this is the place. Finished off my first day here in St Thomas with a famous local dish. Curry lobster! It was quite spectacular and like no other lobster dish I have ever had. It is Rock lobster cut in half with the meat pulled out and chunked cooked with mushrooms and peppers in a yellow curry sauce then put back in the shell. With rice and some veggies. It was my understanding they are known for their lobster, so I guess the other dishes are an afterthought. Even the dessert wasn't good. This is an ocean front restaurant and is not that big. It started raining and the people that were outside rushed into the covered portion of the restaurant (there is no indoors). What started as a quiet evening quickly became a loud, cramped event.
