Really great food, friendly, quick service, and vegan options! I'm on a road trip and I did not expect to find a vegan friendly place out here, but I came across Mimo's and had to give them a try. They had both vegan and gluten-free options on the menu, making Mimo's a thoroughly inclusive restaurant. I ordered a vegan Stromboli combo. The serving size was very generous, the crust was cooked just right and the ingredients were super fresh! It was also loaded with lots of vegan cheese, so I was stuffed by the end of the meal. Service was also very friendly and fast. I'd love to come back here again and try a vegan pizza! I just wish I didn't live over 1,000 miles away. read more

My sister and I have decided recently that on most Friday's we will attempt to try something new for dinner. We usually do that by Yelp roulette. Pull up the app, type in a random search word, and see what pops up. I have to say that I disagree with what appears to be the most recent review for this place. The prices are are not "out of scope" as they put it. In all actuality the prices were spot on for what you are paying for. If you are looking for gourmet prices I can give you the name of a few places and the duration it will take you to get there. It is a small space with booths on the inside with some small tables. They also have outside seating available. Small gated off area on the sidewalk. But not to fear, it does not take up the sidewalk, it actually is a pretty big sidewalk. When you come in, it is an establishment that allows you to seat yourself. A lot of the business seems to be delivery and/or pick up. You basically get what appears like a take out menu to look over. Once you decide you go to the counter and place your order. Drinks are bottles and self serve. We went with the Loaded Pizza Fries, Garlic Bread, and a large combo pizza. It took a while for the food to come out, but like I mentioned, just because you are sitting in here does not mean they are not already busy with take out/delivery orders. Our appetizers came out first. I did not try the garlic bread as I was saving room for the pizza. I did dive into the pizza fries. What appears to be a medium pizza pan is covered with a heap of fries. Then to place sauce, pepperoni, and cheese on top of them all, amazing. This comes with marinara sauce to dip the fries in. When you get the right combination of all the ingredients on the pan, you got a great combination. The cheese around the edges was of the burnt variety and a nice touch. Kind of one of my favorite things, burnt cheese. The pizza, let's talk about it. When you order a combo you can get up to five toppings for the price of the pizza. If you are toppings fanatic, go crazy. We just went with a classic pairing of pepperoni and sausage. The slices were fairly big for a large. Just enough grease on the pizza that it wasn't dripping off or made the dough a wet mess. The pepperoni did that curling thing that makes them a cup, traps the grease a bit and has that crispy rim. There was so much food that we ended up taking half the pizza and half the fries home. We ended up looking like we ordered take out when we left. So no, David S., the prices are not too far out of scope here. Everything was delicious and we ended up walking out with loads of food to enjoy later. read more

Mimo's is a great restaurant. I've never had a bad meal there. The outdoor seating in summer adds fun. The location in Windber is perfect and the parking lot is adequate. We ordered soda as two different Strombolis. Both were fresh and hot. The vegetable one, according to my partner, was delicious with two kind of cheese. I had extra pepperoni and onions on mine. The only flaw was that the pepperoni was not spread out as much as I would have liked. Everything else reached to the edges. read more

The food is delicious. I love everything I have eaten here. The service is good, as well as the ambiance. I eat there whenever I am out and about. No waitress as we had to order and pay at a counter then sit down and wait for a server to bring our food. We are more than a little disappointed with our most recent delivery order, which arrived a few minutes ago. We ordered breaded mushrooms, a combo regular pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni, onions, sausage, and green peppers; the last item was a medium white garlic pizza with mushrooms and onions. The first pizza was just to be "regular" cooked. The latter pizza was to be CRISPY. Needless to say it was not anywhere even close to being crispy! The pizza itself really tasted good, but that is only part of the experience we had. The pizza piece was as crispy as a cooked spaghetti noodle and was so "twisty and bendy" (read flexible) that we were so incredibly disappointed. When I called the store to talk to someone about my pizza, this also left ALOT to be desired. I was told repeatedly that it starts out crispy and then gets really soft "when the oil and cheese set in with a delivery". I tried explaining why I was so dissatisfied and was told that there really wasn't anything they could do because the cook said he had cooked it crispy to start with and it was just the length of time that made it very soft. This might have been acceptable except for the fact that we only live about 6 blocks away from the restaurant and it shouldn't have had the TIME to get mushy. Additionally, the real kicker was when my HUSBAND'S pizza was as crisp as all get out!!!! When we informed the restaurant that if need be that we would take our business elsewhere, we were told that since the cook said he DID make it crispy that they couldn't do anything! I believe that what it all boils down to is customer service, or a lack thereof. People make mistakes, which is why one can call in with their concerns/complaints. When a problem is discovered, the focus should be to either remake the item or manage the issue in some other reasonable way. When item is ordered one way but is received another, this is unacceptable! At this point, our latest experience has had a marginal at best quality of the food and extremely poor customer service. I can't help but to think that in their pursuit to become some kind of hoity-toity restaurant that customer service is what has been sacrificed in the process. We have ordered from them countless times and eat in the restaurant on a regular basis. We have had minor problems previously but things were handled quite differently. Were we dissatisfied and disappointed? Definitely! Will we order from them again or eat in the restaurant? HE** NO!!!!! We love Mimo's!!! My family is from Windber, so I grew up visiting the area a couple times a year, so Mimo's became a household favorite and vacation staple. When my husband and I drove through town a few weeks ago I just knew I had to introduce him to the famous Italian menu. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza and he got a stromboli. Amazing as always!! We stopped in before light up night(11/23/18). It was busy, but not packed. The hostess instantly sat us at a table and said someone would be right with us. We sat for over 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Waitresses cleared the two tables beside us, complained about the one bringing drinks in from elsewhere & chatted with a nearby table. They then sat the table next to us and they were instantly brought utensils and water. We still sat with nothing, At that time, we decided to leave and had a great meal down the street. The saddest part of the night was that I sent an instant message to them. After a week, I still haven't heard anything from them. Highly disappointed in the experience. My family and I stopped by today for lunch while my sister had a treatment at the medical clinic. We seated ourselves and then waited a good 10 minutes before a waitress came over to get our drink order. Unfortunately, there were seven tables to be waited on and only two servers. Our sever was stressed as a large take out order had just been picked up. We ordered an antipasta salad, chicken Parmesan, and lasagne. All items came out warm but looked like the entrees could have been freezer meals. None of the food had any flavor. As far as the salad went, there were two pieces of provolone, two pieces of ham, two pieces of salami with two green olives and tons of iceberg lettuce for $8.95. Perhaps this was a bad day for this establishment, however we would not go back to this restaurant due to unfriendly service and awful, tasteless food. read more

My family lives in Windber, PA and after several visits over the last 30-some years. Just last week, my wife and I are staying at my grandma's guest-farmhouse just outside of town. It was late and we needed dinner. I figured nothing was open so we were gonna run to Giant Eagle (I wanted charcoal anyway) and find "a sandwich or something." WELL, hallelujah! On the way down the hill I saw a Mimo's delivery truck and said, "Mimo's is still open! Let's go." It was probably the best food decision we made on our week-long vacation. Like I said, I've been eating at Mimo's during family trips since at least the 90s, probably the 80s if it existed then. The pizza, subs and pasta are all delicious. They've got a huge beer list. The dining room is cozy but spacious. The servers are friendly. If I lived in town I'd probably be in there once a week, if not calling for delivery. read more

This was a great pizza place when the father had it. The son took over and totally ruined the atmosphere and the food. Prices are extremely high for the inferior food served. Way better places to go than Mimo's. Very sad to watch at one time the best place in town to turn into the worst place I have ever been. Owner is very arrogant and fights with employees and is always mad at the customer when orders are messed up, it's not the customers fault. I do not recommend and will never go back. I'm HARD to satisfy - just ask my wife The pizza is as good as any in Manhattan. That is unless you're craving the newest "creation" dreamt up by some hipster coming off of an Esctasy buzz. The food in general is as good as Nonna's, the salads fresh and, most importantly, they make all their bread from scratch - a good meal HAS to start with good bread, of course. Have been here many times before food was good. Was in windber called in a to go order. There was a new person taking orders that was fine when I got to the restaurant the delivery driver was leaving with my order not sure y because it was said to be a pick up order. So I paid my bill and left went home found there were items missing from my order that I paid for. I called and the man I spoke to said that because I was 3.5 miles out side of their delivery area they would not deliver it. They were also not willing to do any service recovery for me to come and get it. Then I was told it is because their insurance would not cover the driver outside a 3 mile radius from their store. Have eaten there several times. While quality of food is only as good as most italian or pizza places, the prices are far out of scope for the quality, quantity and selection. If two are having an appetizer, salad and pizza with a drink, be sure to take $60-75 bucks along. Me, I'd drop 30 for the best antipasta salad and tray of pizza around at D'arcs. Otherwise, 60-75 bucks will buy two 16 oz sirloins 2 sides and a drink at txr. Pizza is great! My sandwich came out way before the pizza the rest ordered. Dining room is beyond small, and tables so close it's very closterfobic to me. Very chaotic when sitting there. I absolutely love that Mimo's has vegan cheese!!! The only place in the Johnstown area that can make plant based accommodations for pizza! Mimo's is a staple for me every visit to Windber. This is a family owned business, who's been around as long as I can remember, and I love it so much. It's always hard for me to choose because everything is delicious, but the hot Italian sub is everything. The bread is seriously so good, I wish I could just get it shipped to my house on a weekly basis. They also have a great beer list, that is updated frequently. In my many years of visiting, I've never been upset with my service, and I always leave full and happy. If you don't know about this place, learn about it. My g/f and I stopped in here instead of going to Em's subs which was a HUGE mistake. My g/f informed me that they had good pizza and great italian subs. We discussed the restaurant and she said she used to go there as a kid, 10 years ago. We ordered the cheese sticks for an appetizer which tasted like a block of salt. Two slices of pepperoni pizza that was extremely thin and drenched in grease with no flavor, very bland. I got an italian sub and added mayo and italian dressing. There was one piece of ham, salami and pepperoni with moz cheese. They added waaaay too much mayo with no spices. My g/f had a small turkey sub and the turkey was not fresh. She had a side of french fries that came with it. The fries were of low quality just like the cheese sticks and the meat. Our final bill was over $28.00 with one soda. Our waitress asked us two different times how everything was. We literally shook our heads and said, "its average". Meaning, it was bad. She didn't even ask how to improve our order. Bottom line, the quality of food is very cheap and reflects ALL entrees, appetizers, etc. I would never go back to Mimo's in this lifetime. read more

Heard about this place on TV on National Pizza Day . Guess it's been there for years , but I never noticed it . Great selection of beers , mini breweries included . The table service was quite good considering how busy the place was at 2 pm . The Pizza crust was thin , but not cracker-thin . Cheese and sauce were very good but the crust didn't have much flavor . I had to ask for red pepper flakes , but they had no Italian seasonings when we asked for it ? they did have a great range of toppings , including anchovies !
