Pappys pizza is delicious. One of my favorites. The atmosphere in the restaurant takes me back to my childhood days. It's pretty much the same since 1974 when they opened. I celebrated my 11th birthday there in 1974, and I just celebrated my 63rd birthday there this year. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. read more

We had not eaten here in awhile. We did take out for my family picnic . Wings, pizza and salad. Everything we had was good! It was ready for pick up on time and a real time saver for me. Will use again! read more

Was just in at Pappys Family Pub in Johnstown and sat for over 10 minutes and not even acknowledged after the menus were given to us. I've been going there for years many years and this is the worst its been. On waitress was having a long conversation with a customer, personal conversation, right beside us never acknowledged us. Other waitress was at register standing Very bad service read more

Marisa, our server, was wonderful. My wife and I enjoyed Stromboli, which was the daily special. Food was great and the waitress was a delight. Great experience. The portions were big and I even took half a Stromboli home. Epic win! Thank you Pappy's and Marisa! read more

Chicken Parmesan and lasagna are both excellent thank you to the chef and the waitresses!

Food was just ok, service was ok, but this place is absolutely filthy! There is not a clean surface to be found. Game room machines are at least 30 years old and half don't even work. It should be condemned. read more

My husband and I was looking for a different Italian place than more commercialized pizza places. The salad that came with my chicken Parmesan meal. The vegetables were very fresh and the salad was probably the best out of the whole meal. The chicken Parmesan the sauce was awful and nasty and the chicken seemed like it wasn't cooked long enough it was tough. My husband ordered the 1 topping pizza and he was absolutely disgusted. We will definitely will never will be ordering from here again. read more

I have been to Pappy's multiple times since my initial review over eight years ago. Each visit cements the fact that this is some good food that brings your back. I have tried many things on the menu over the years from appetizers to entrees to pizza, and all of them are quite possibly some of the best items you can find in the Johnstown area. The most recent visit was one of the COVID era. If you were wondering, social distancing is enforced, plexiglass shields are up to protect from other diners, and people are full force using the take out, pick up, and drive thru window. Yes, this place has a drive thru window, so call your order in ahead of time and just swing around to the window and pick it up as you pass through. I'm not going to go much into the menu, I'm just going to dive into the item I had ordered. I waivered back and forth and just kind of blurted out what I wanted when it came time to order. I was in the mood for something hearty and something that would fill me up. I opted for their Chicken Parmigiana. The menu describes it as two chicken breast that are breaded, fried and topped with marinara and cheese, that all goes on top of a bed of spaghetti. What I pictured in my head were two moderate sized chicken breasts, not the mammoth ones I got. Each one was nearly as big as my face. Each one was fit to be a meal by itself. These were not thin at all, they had a good thickness to them. The breading was perfectly season and believe it or not, held up the crispiness. The marinara is made in house, so you know it's fresh and to top all that with that amount of cheese made me the happiest person in there. Fresh piece of garlic bread is served with this behemoth of a meal. Without having to say it, this had a good portion come home with me. I also should mention that I got the pepperoni rolls appetizer as well. And the meal came with a side salad. So that was a lot of food for me. Probably didn't help that I had a Orange Crush Float as my drink to start, so soda and ice cream. I was sufficiently full when we left here and happy to say that I had leftovers to take as my lunch to work the next day. The two reasons I can't bump this up to five stars is that no matter what time of day it is in here, it always has a gloomy feeling to it. I know that kind of gives it its charm, but it's always so dim, unless you sit in the sun room on a sunny day. The other reason is the timing that the food comes out. My meal came out quite a bit later than the pizzas that the rest of my party ordered. I kept wondering if they forgot to make my order for a time. Each time the server walked by it was so fast that I couldn't ask her what was up with my food. Oh, if you want a gut-buster of a meal, make sure to look for the Great Grand Pappy. Two grilled cheese sandwiches sub in for your bun. Totally worth the gluttonous feeling you have afterwards. read more

Terrible service. Many times over. So slow and very little care given about it. Will not return.

This location has been in business for over 40 years! That's great to see! If you visited as a kid, not much had changed with the decor. You can still view your pizza being made, there's a juke box and a large game room. Check out the Game room - some very unique "vintage" games. Really neat! We ordered two pizzas. Unfortunately one arrived way over cooked. We quickly found our waitress who happily returned the pizza for a much better one. Pappy's offers a great value - bring your family here! They have half priced pizza specials on certain nights. They also serve - spaghetti, Stromboli, sandwiches, Chicken, salads, etc. Years ago when visiting, they had trivia night which was a lot of fun. read more

The lady at the front seating people was terribly rude slammed our menus down and walked away. Waited an hour for 1 pizza and our other food was forgotten, horrible service. Coming from a server for over 10 years this establishment should feel embarrassed . I've been eating here since I was a kid and the food and service all around is nothing like it used to be. Pappys has officially lost its touch. read more

Foods great, staff is very attentive, the atmosphere is calming. I like the place. I would recommend this

Love the food and atmosphere. There is a bench where kids can watch their pizza being made. There is also an arcade, but not all the games work. There is a drive through pickup window too. read more

All I can say is this place has always and forever be a family favorite for kids and grandparents. Thank you Kerry!

Waited for 10 minutes for a waiter/waitress to approach me so I could order a pizza to go and the waitress said I was 5 minutes to late to order, but after arguing with her for 5 minutes she finally asked me what would I like to order. She was not very professional with how she handled things. read more

Best food service and atmosphere! You won't be disappointed no need to pick and choose it's all good!

Lasagna is the best here! We have had a couple issues with servers just ignoring us as we wait to be acknowledged. Food is it good here and a good value so, we keep coming back! read more

this place is amazing!!! the interior gives a rustic western vibe, but its very welcoming. the servers are so kind and helpful! The lasagna is made by the manager and is the best lasagna i've ever had in years. The portions are huge and the prices are a steal. Service has been much better!! Again, never had a problem with food. In fact I would out Pappy's fish sandwich up against anyone. Yep

This place has been around since I was a kid. I have great memories of going here for my birthday and getting my birthday "kit": An old timey 1890's barbershop quartet-type straw hat (actually styrofoam), a paper bow tie, and a paper Pappy mustache. The place is still there. They've added a sun-porch dining room addition many years ago. Took out the video games (dang it!!!). The "player" piano is still there although I don't know if it's still used...and yes, the wacky fun house mirror is still there. You can still watch the dudes in the kitchen making the pizzas through a giant plate glass window, but they've put in new pizza making gizmos in there and it's not as nice an experience as it used to be. What are those new giant contraptions!?!? Anyway, maybe I'm just used to living on the West Coast but the food there is way cheap. Not mind-blowing quality, but a typical family pizza/pasta place. Iceberg lettuce salads and decent pizza. Their sandwiches are good too. They still have their half-price pizza Tuesdays and I think they have a stromboli day. And you can't beat that painting of the Last Supper that they still have hanging on the fireplace inside. read more

Good pizza and a break from Pizza Hut. Look at their daily specials and you can get 2 pies for 1 price certain days.

Such a great place to eat. When you walk into this restaurant the first thing to grab your attention is HAND TOSSED dough for the pizzas! You can watch them toss/roll your pizza! You're always seated timely, never a hassle where you sit because there's not a bad seat in the restaurant. Food is a huge arrangement from Italian dishes, pizza, and meat and potatoes. I highly suggest their buffalo chicken Stromboli. Drinks are usually bottled beers, your usual mixed drinks that aren't out of the normal, and I believe Coke products? I usually just get a water. The place is very clean and typically a good eat. read more

Best boneless wings I've ever had and the all you can eat spaghetti was only 6.99! What a deal. Awesome place for families! They have a game room and an old player piano. You can watch the pizza makers flip the dough and make the pizzas. It's a bit dark in here, but I like that. They also have a sunroom if you want to eat in there. Everything is made with rich wood and accented with vintage signs. The pizza is very good and I've never been disappointed with the food or service here. They have a few beers in draft to help wash down your pizza. Is there any better combination that beer and good pizza? read more

One place to try in Johnstown is Pappy's. The food is always delicious. We usually get the stromboli. Always fresh and never a disappointment. The garlic bread is to die for. The garlic sticks are about the same. We have tried different items off the menu. On Sundays, they have the all you can eat breasted chicken and spaghetti. If you leave this place hungry, then it's your own fault. Don't trust the iced tea is my only warning. read more

This restaurant is by far my most favorite restaurant. I eat here every year for my birthday. The food here is absolutely amazing. Myself and family come here every few months or so, but I absolutely love the food. The cinnamon sugar fried dough is to to die for. Even though covid is around, Pappy's does a good job at staying safe. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes delicious family food and likes to hang out with friends. If you want delicious food, then I would definitely recommend this place. read more

We have had a few experiences with Pappy's. (We had my daughter's wedding rehearsal here) Even with certain COVID-19 issues, service was great. We had called and placed our take-out, The lady on the phone was so personable, we felt really good about going back! At the rehearsal dinner, one of the things that we had was wings (bone-in) and this immediately cemented in my mind that only Pappy's would be the place for us to order wings. The barbecue wings were incredible, the garlic-parmesan wings were phenomenal! The order was carefully placed into the take-out bag and was safely situated in the bag.) I had not known that they had a drive through window, which made pick-up SO easy. The drive-thru employees were taking orders like crazy and yet still gave customers the feeling that they were the only ones there. Thank you, Pappy's- you are our go-to place for wings and service!! Great job! read more

This restaurant is owned by the parents of a young man I went to elementary school with and has been around as long as I can remember . However , the building is very old and not very well maintained . I ran not my childhood friend one day and he gave two fifty dollar gift cards for his families restaurant as a gift . I have one of the cards to my grandparents and used the other t order food for pickup . My grandmother did the same . The next day my grandparents were both complaining of what they suspected to be food poisoning . My children were both not feeling well the next morning and also had bad tummy troubles . I ate only a little bit of the food but I had pain and vomiting as well . Needless to say I will never eat at this location again . It's quite sad that it has gone downhill so much over the years , because I used to really enjoy going for dinner followed by a round of miniature golf at their course that is located behind the restaurant. The miniature golf course is very run down these days as well and is nothing but a shadow of its former glory . read more

Went here, got nostalgic reasons. The food was good, not sure how it compared to the ones i grew up with, but it's been over 30 years. Service was excellent, and food prices were a good bargain. I do wish they had renovated once in the past 40+ years, but it's in a small town. I miss the Pappys mustache and hats, maybe the could bring the stuff back. read more

This was a pretty good experience. There was a small issue with the pizza, but I still think 4 stars are fair. Our pizza was a little undercooked, a bit of raw dough. But, it was big enough, and we managed to set that part aside and make the best of it. The staff were very nice. It was a bit dark in the main room, but they have a sun room area if you want that. Both are nice in different ways. If I had a complaint, the tables were dirty, like a lot of them. We walked by table after dirty table, and eventually asked to sit in the sun room, where we did find a clean place. If I'm generous, maybe the place was completely full 10 minutes before we went, and everyone made one mass exit. It's possible I guess. How can I give 4 stars after saying that? The cooked part of the pizza was good. I suspect that I could have sent it back and they would have been cheery and nice about it. They really do seem like a nice bunch of people. I just have the feeling that I did not catch them at their best. I'll go back again. If I strike out, then I'll come back and lower the rating. read more

I love this place personally. I like the dark 80.'s stranger things oddness too it. Big fan of all the pizza and Stromboli's at Pappy's. Gotta love half price pizza days and half price Stromboli days.

Pappy's is just too good to resist. Half price pizza Tuesdays cannot be beat, and $2.75 strombolis on Wednesday are always a great quick dinner. The service can sometimes be so-so, but it's nothing too awful. The food more than makes up for it. read more
