One of the better Mother's Day dinners we've had. Reservations for 5 pm and we were seated…read morepromptly. A very busy evening for this restaurant and service was very good to start. After our drinks, appetisers, and entrées were delivered, service slowed. Wait for dessert was a bit long. The food and cocktails were delicious! Mothers Day specials of a 10 ounce filet or crab cakes were wonderful. Mushroom raviolis were also delicious according to our daughter. The restaurant is very large and what a view!

I've been to Asiago's many times over the years ... for the most part, it has been a favorite date…read morespot for my husband and I. This afternoon, we had reservations for 4:30PM. We arrived and it took 2 times for 2 young ladies to locate the reservation. The hostess went to seat us at a small table in a corner on the uppermost level. Everyone knows the "view" is THE reason you go to Asiago's ... and the view from the table sucked, so I asked if there were tables available on their patio (despite seeing most tables along the windows were still open.) There were 2 tables available on the patio - 1 along the railing with a view and 1 (again) in the back corner where we were seated with a view of only the mountaintops and the backs of the heads of the people seated in front of us. I asked to be moved to the table by the railing, but was told it was held for a reservation. Um, okay ... I, too, had a reservation?!! At this point, I was (admittedly) pissed and lost my appetite, so we left since nothing had been ordered. On the drive home (46 miles 1-way with gas costing $4.60/gal), I called and asked for the manager. Ultimately, I heard a slew of excuses, maybe 1 or 2 pre-fabbed apologies, but ZERO attempts to genuinely rectify the situation ... I didn't ask for the manager while I was at the restaurant because I felt like I was so close to the people seated beside me that I could practically jump in their back pocket. I don't think the manager would want me airing my grievances with all the other people within earshot. The manager did say that they don't promise window seating with a reservation, but did confirm that with a reservation it is "first come, first served" so I question why we weren't given the table by the railing or one of many tables that were open along the windows. This isn't the first time I've questioned available seating, as we were seated near a noisy party of 8+ in the past and asked to be moved. I feel it may be time to retrain some of the hosts/hostesses on restaurant policies. Not sure if or when I'll go back. Food prices are insane everywhere now, but I did notice Asiago's wants $20 for fried mozzarella. There are a lot more reasonably priced establishments to consider, especially if you take away the "view" that I go there to enjoy.

Lovin' the Oven!…read more Italian Food, the great unifier! Rare is the person who doesn't enjoy cheesy, saucy pasta or a crisp slice of pizza. Add on fresh, complementary salad and bread (with pasta entrees), and you will be in love with the 'ove. I've never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the classic Eggplant or Chicken Parmesan. I've also tried the Shrimp Scampi, Chicken & Vegetable Penne (a veggie lover's dream), and Cavatini (linguine and penne with sausage, meatballs, onion, peppers, and mushrooms). Alongside their al-dente pasta comes bottomless salad with warm, luscious bread fresh from their wood-fired oven. Also, as a salad freak, there's nothing I appreciate more than fresh, crisp salad with generous toppings. And honestly, they have the best ranch dressing I've ever tasted in my life. Feeling creative? Try their Pasta Your Way and choose from six different pastas and eight (EIGHT!) sauces. Plus add-ons like chicken, meatballs, sausage, and veggies. Lunchtime? They have a great selection of sandwiches (Fried Fish, Italian Hoagie, Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan, even a Vegetable Panini for vegeterians). All sandwiches come with fries or pasta. The pizza and stromboli are also great, with a huge variety of toppings. The portion sizes are generous; I always end up with leftovers from here. With bread, salad, and an entree, I always leave satisfied. STUFFED if I add on an appetizer or soup. (Might I recommend their Roasted Red Pepper Cream Soup and ultra-crispy Fried Zucchini, piled staggeringly high and served with a zippy, creamy horseradish sauce). They run a tight ship here. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, perfect for people-watching without feeling too exposed. You can also peer into the kitchen, which is neat. Servers provide the perfect balance of warmth and efficiency. The place is buzzing, and it's clear to see why: the food is good, prices are affordable, and they make you feel at home. It's refreshing to dine at a down-to-earth restaurant where the emphasis is not on what's trendy, but what's timeless: that good-for-your-soul feeling after a delicious meal served well. As a monthly patron during my college years, this place is near and dear to my heart. In the culinary desert that is Johnstown, PA, this restaurant is a godsend, and I truly hope that it experiences the utmost longevity. P.S.: Their desserts are fantastic, too! I just wish they'd bring back their seven-layer chocolate cake. Scrum-diddly!

Right now I'm sitting across from the buffet and there are none trays of food available. Salad, two kinds of pasta, weirdly plain potatoes, Mac and cheese, chicken wings, mussels, french fries and some strange chicken covered in a weird gravy. The salad and wings are good, but the rest of it is trash. It was $16 per person and they charged us an extra 20% because we are a "large" party. Over charging for subpar food is the death knell for this place. I hope it goes under quickly. No one deserves to pay for this bs.

It came with soup/salad and fresh rolls. Actual, homemade rolls that I could have inhaled by the basketful. The salad was basic, but the main dishes were VERY good! I had gone to Capri's all the time as a kid for pizza, but was fully impressed with their pasta dishes. The eggplant parm was crispy and flavorful and the shells were creamy and tasty. They DO have a beer/wine menu, which I had to ask about once I saw someone at another table order a beer, but overall the service was fantastic. And we all got dessert--definitely try the gob cake! Definitely on my "when I visit Johnstown" rotation!
