Hostess was so rude to us when I asked for table over a booth. She said, fine sit wherever you want and walked off. The booths were so tiny. I'm not a huge person but I couldn't fit easily. Even when I was skinnier I wouldn't have fit. Then we had to wait 15 minutes to order while we could hear them in the back trying to figure out who had change for a 100 bill. The waitress said sorry, there's a large party here. The largest party I saw when I walked to the other side of the restaurant was six people, and our waitress's section only had two other tables in it. She did not know the menu at all. I ordered a Brie omelette without onions and it came loaded with onions on top and inside. Onions hurt my stomach. I waited 5 minutes to see if I could have them make me another one, but the waitress didn't reappear. The kitchen was right there, so I picked up my plate and popped my head in the kitchen and there were 8 waitresses playing on their cell phones. My waitress was like oh yeah, it wasn't supposed to have onions. They said they would remake it and they did. The water glasses looked dirty. My husband's potatoes were so dry he had to douse them with ketchup to make them edible. My new potatoes had so much spicy salt on them I couldn't eat them and I didn't want to hassle with the waitress again. We had to wait 10 minutes for her to come pick up my credit card. I'm not sure how this place isn't shut down yet. 1). The place is disorganized and messy. We sat down and noticed on the bar there was a gallon on milk left outside for nearly 30 minutes before someone noticed and put it away. I ordered a hot chocolate and noticed it was really weird tasting. Could have been the milk gone bad. At the bottom of the hot chocolate there was a bunch of powder that still hadn't been mixed. On the counter floor there was a box of Swiss Hot Chocolate (figures since it taste cheap). It was literally 3.99 for a Swiss hit chocolate I could have done at home 2). The food is clearly microwaved. I ordered a French onion soup and when I tasted it, it was clearly unfresh. I asked the waiter if the soup are made to day she said yes, but I told her it tasted really watered down and exchanged it out for some fruit... shocker the fruit was stale and old. 4/20/18 Today we decided to have breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. My wife ordered the corned beef hash and eggs and I had the strip steak and eggs. Kind of like our fiasco with Garage Grill my wife's meal was pretty burnt but they were very nice and had it replaced in a hurry. It looked like one of those plastic food models on display under glass. Meatloaf was dry. Gravy had crusted over. Mashed potatoes were rock-hard. Salad was warm. The server went to get the manager. She came back and told us the manager was too busy to see us. Although she did take off the charges for the quiche and meatloaf (still charged us for the soups), I won't be back. Everyone can have an off night. I can even understand being seriously understaffed, as they were. MiMi's Cafe is a love/hate situation for me. Not everything is good. Not everything is bad. You might order a plate and only enjoy half of it, all of it or none of it. I can't say what I think a person's experience would be. You'd have to try it for yourself. What I will say is, the French dip is a no-go. The meat is too thick to be that bland. The shrimp linguine pasta is always a favorite of mine. The eggs Benedict is good but the potatoes served with it are horrible. They have a dried out burnt taste to them. You have to sift through the potatoes to find one that isn't gonna have that chard flavor so that you can actually TASTE the potato. The French toast is great. You can't go wrong there. And their fries are... dry to say the least. I just don't feel the good is worth the price. ‍ Try it for yourself and see what you think. We have eaten at Mimi's several times and always enjoyed our experience. Unfortunately this time was well below average and I am not sure if we will return. We went for breakfast and we had a short wait time however the host was less than courteous and seemed extremely stressed. Once we placed our order we waited a half hour for our food, when it arrived it was lukewarm and not at all appetizing. I ordered an omelet which said it was a 3 egg omelet but it was extremely small and the cheese was a funky texture. My sister ordered eggs Benedict and the yolks looked liked hard boiled eggs. My first cup if coffee was hot and good but the refill was cold. My sister ordered decaf coffee and was told they didn't have any, she originally wanted a quiche florentine and again was told they didn't have that either. Mimi's salmon is so delicious, their muffins are to die for, and their veggies are so fresh. My grandma also loves their corn chowder on her days she feels sick. I was stuck at the Nissan dealer while my car was getting fixed so I ordered from GrubHub. Although they don't charge a delivery fee they make up for it in the price of the entrees. The veggie egg white omelet was $12.29. it arrived looking like a rubber disc in a plastic container. 1 wilted piece of lettuce, + 2 unappetizing slices of tomato. Nowhere on the app did it indicate that this omelet would not come with potatoes like all the other omelettes. I was outraged that I was charged $13 for this! When I called the manager at Mimi's he insisted that potatoes aren't vegetarian and therefore you get tomatoes instead?! Since when are potatoes not vegetarian? Not to mention that it came with a pumpkin muffin for the bread. If you can have bread with your omelette, you can have potatoes. Fortunately he made things right by sending out some potatoes. The restaurant is located just down the street from where I am so instead of using GrubHub they sent one of their employees. I really appreciate his attention and understanding. Be aware that if you use GrubHub, the menu selections are limited and the prices elevated to compensate their drivers. Generous portions, quality food and a late night menu was just what my colleague and I needed after a long day at the office. This was my first experience and all was pleasant except our departure. We were enjoying after dinner drinks and the feeling of satisfaction from a wonderful meal when the busser starts to clear the tables with their headphones on and starts throwing the dishes in her bus tub to the point where dishes are breaking. Her music was too loud for her to realize she was breaking dishes and we signaled her trying to get her attention but she paid us no mind. The waitress comes over and apologizes for the noise and tries to reassure us by stating that this is "normal" for the busser and she has had multiple warnings. Her apology did nothing for us and it was a failed attempt to defend... who exactly? The waitress provided great service throughout the night so there are no complaints there but she seemed confused when we asked her to address the noise. No exaggeration here- I'm talking slamming dishes to the point where the waitress is less than a foot away from me and had to ask me to repeat myself because she couldn't hear me. We paid our bill and proceeded to leave when the manager came out and asked us how our experience was and before I was able to answer the waitress says- so and so (unable to recall the name) is slamming dishes and no one can hear each other. The busser is unloading her tub in the kitchen and the attorney runs back to address the issue and apologized. What was the outcome? No clue because we didn't stay. The chicken Parmesan had awesome aldente noodles, juicy and generous sized chicken breasts and my salmon was perfectly cooked and the waitress accommodated my request to replace my potatoes with spinach. I really want to come back and reorder the salmon and pasta my colleague had but I don't want to come back and face the noise especially after the comment the waitress made on our way out about how management does nothing to address customer concerns so we are SOL. read more

Met some friends here for a late lunch. We go here every couple of months. They have changed their menu and it is not a good change. It was 4:30 and they don't make the 5 cheese grilled sandwich after 4pm. The Cobb salad used to be big and yummy accompanied with a muffin. No muffin any more. They have changed the salad dressing brands and the blue cheese and ranch dressings are horrible. The bread basket no longer has date bread or soft bread sticks. Now you get a very"hard" tasteless roll. The manager told us upper management made the changes. I guess we will not be going back. Not only did it look gross, it didn't taste that good. We both took one bite and gave up. I tried tearing off a little piece off of the top where it hasn't touched the sauce, and it was actually pretty good. If they had only gone easy on the sauce...sigh. When the server came by to drop off the check, she saw us sitting there with the pudding virtually untouched and asked "so you didn't like it?" And then walked away. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other restaurants who actually cares about what people think of their food, but the least she could do was offer to replace it with another item or take the item off of our check. The experience was disappointing. I don't think I would ever go back again or recommend a friend to go. TERRIBLE! We went to Mimi's for a family breakfast and some one who no longer lives near a Mimi's picked this restaurant and location. After this morning's experience I will never be back. The one and only redeeming feature was our very pleasant waitress. A couple people from our party ordered quiche one was delivered to the table and actually looked like pizza as it was flat. The reason it was flat was it was raw, not just undercooked, but raw. Serving raw eggs is dangerous. The replacement was cooked slightly more, but still way undercooked. One of the younger members of our party picked up a piece of her bacon asked her mother what was wrong with her bacon, mother replied "it is not cooked right, it is raw, don't eat it". That was the consensus of our whole table, most of the food was not properly cooked. And after spending much of the afternoon and evening in the bathroom, I sm guessing the food I ate was also not cooked properly. I know restaurants are having difficulty during Covid, however putting food out that makes people sick, never an excuse for that. read more

We use to LOVE Mimi's. Yesterday we went in to the state street and 5400 Salt Lake City location! Biggest disappointment ever! We ordered our meals ,,, i asked for the blueberry muffin to go with mine. She said they were out and it would MAYBE be ready when my meal came out. (She quoted 20 minutes for them to be done). First of all .... its breakfast time, why do you let them run out before baking more. 20 minutes means they just put them in the oven to bake! Our meal took almost 40 minutes to come out. Still no blueberry muffin! My husbands came out first and the waitress said she didn't want to leave his any longer to wait for mine or it would die in the window! . His potatoes were cold and his eggs Benedict was barely warm. Apparently it had already died and she just didn't want to have to wait for another meal. Then they brought mine out a few min later. They had my order wrong... forgot parts of it,,, and to be honest.... it tasted horrible. The spinach and artichoke omelet had the dip they use for an appetizer, spread inside of it! It was sooo nasty! No fresh spinach no artichoke chunks. Just a smear of dip! No thank you. We ended up leaving hungry! We offered to pay for the coffee and milk and muffin but they were nice enough to decline that. The excuses we heard were that they were slammed for breakfast (there was a half empty restaurant when we got there... no waiting) then there was a burner not working and a cook had called out. The people beside us had it even worse. Kids pancakes were burned. Bacon was cardboard. Steak was WAYYYY over done. Waitress kept saying it would take too long to have the kitchen remake the food so they needed to decide if they wanted the food or not. . A manager came out and asked them how he could fix it for them and finally got some new pancakes that were a little less burnt! Mimi's. I have been to Mimi's Cafe a few times. This is the first time since they changed their menu. Some of their signature dishes have been removed from the menu including the linguine with mussel in a spicy sauce. The restaurant is nice and clean. It's good for groups and kids. They have crayons for kids and kids menu. They kept their complimentary carrot cake and dinner roll. We ordered the Guacamole & Chips and Calamari as starter. The homemade guacamole dipping was as good as usual. I thought the calamari batter was a little too thick. It's as hard as onion rings. They changed the menu so drastically, even the server didn't know where the steak was on the menu and what choices we have available. He made the effort to go back and asked the manager and gave us what we wanted. The server was nice and helpful. He checked on our drinks and how we were doing regularly. Service is a 4 star. We ordered a Bouillabaisse, Meatloaf and a NY steak as main course. The bouillabaisse was not bad for Mimi's standard. Seafood wise, they cooked it just right to get the favored in the seafood and to get rid of the bitterness from frozen seafood. (It's Utah, so I can't expect anything fresh like I'd get from the coast cities) Meatloaf is homemade and cooked just right. It's comparatively better than most of the chain restaurants. NY steak, it's not the best cut. We ordered a medium rare and it was cooked as we expected. Terrible....I never send food back and today was a first for me. I ordered the turkey platter with green beans and coleslaw. The turkey, gravy and green beans came out cold. The plate tasted exactly like a Hungry Man frozen dinner, maybe worse. The service was decent, and the waiter took my plate back to be warmed up, but it came out barely warmer than before. Stop in to have dinner with my daughter last minute and it was such a wonderful suprise. I didnt expect it to be such a wonderful experience. The food was great! I had the turkey, cranberry and walnut baguette with fries and house salad. Our waiter, Justin, was amazing. The best service I've had in a long time.
