I took my RV for a drive shaft issue, which was resolved, then I was told there was wear on front tires so I opted for an alignment, I was told some after market parts installed by another shop (front and rear sway bars, rear trac bar, and steering assist) were loose and 3 hours of labor were needed to tighten the bolts, when I questioned the request it became one hour, it felt like the implication was everything was loose, the information I received was vague, it turned out there where 4 bolts on the front sway bar links that where loose, I only learned this when a video was finally sent, I was also questioned if the correct parts were installed (parts were correct). After delays on the alignment I was told it was still pulling right and a rear tire could be moved to the front, for another hour labor (almost 300 per hour). At this point I asked to speak to the manager, to his credit the 4 bolts were tightened and the tires were swapped for no additional charge. After what seemed like frequent requests for additional money and vague information I asked the manger to review my bill, there was a 1770.00 overcharge. Was this dishonesty or incompetence, I find neither acceptable. I wound not recommend this shop. Update to above review, I would like to clear up something the owner stated in the response, management became involved at my request, not from the business side and the billing error was not corrected before "I left the building", the error was corrected after I spoke with the manager on the phone and asked him to review my bill, had I not requested the review I have serious doubts the error would have been caught. There should be no confusion as to why management became involved. Also, the saga continued after my unpleasant experience, the vehicle was delivered to me and immediately parked, a short time later I drove the vehicle to a Ford dealership for an oil change and noticed a distinct pull to the right. I asked Ford to look at the alignment and was told I needed an alignment, based on the above experience I told them to re-align the vehicle. I also had them install new tires. When I picked up the vehicle it drove straight and true. I contacted Milstead (John) asking for a partial refund, I was given a video showing the vehicle being driven after their alignment, it did appear to be driving straight, I sent paperwork from Ford and was told that Ford did not align the vehicle to the proper specifications and Milstead had done the correct specifications, yet the vehicle previously pulled right and now drives correctly. Milstead also noted the tires I bought, yet their video of the vehicle driving correctly and when I drove it, the old tires were still on. I was refused any type of refund. I would strongly suggest you do not take a vehicle to this shop. read more

I brought my car in for a routine oil change and specifically requested that the oil sending unit be replaced because it was giving false readings. While waiting, we were told that the oil warning light was going on and off because the oil level was low. I explained that I had checked the oil myself that morning and the level was not low. I was then told that Kia vehicles are known for burning oil, which is not true in my experience. I have never had any issues with this vehicle burning oil. In the end, the oil sending unit was not replaced as I requested. Instead, they only changed the oil, the air filter, and the cabin filter. The total charge for an oil change and two filters was $362.00. About an hour after leaving, the oil warning light began turning on and off again. Later that same day, I purchased a new oil sending unit and replaced it myself. That repair immediately fixed the problem. Based on this experience, I will never bring a vehicle to this location again. read more

Crooks! Took our SUV in for a recharge of our A/C system before summer. We had an appointment scheduled and dropped it off. 20 minutes later got text asking if our service was acceptable. I texted back that we had just dropped it off!? About 4:30 that day I called and asked the status. I was told they were "just about to pull it in and start working" and that it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. That was a lie. I got a text the next morning at 10am with a status. The text said our brakes needed attention. Also a clunking sound with the suspension/steering system and the A/C wasn't cooling. We never made any of those complaints, we only asked them to recharge the A/C system which was working fine but just didn't cool that well. The text also said something about replacing brakes and rotors. Since we never asked them to check anything I called immediately. The lady I spoke to said that was part of their inspection service. She then proceeded to tell me that we needed a new compressor, evaporator and the A/C lines were leaking. Hubby thought that was "off" as the A/C was getting cool and working. Just not as good as new. This is a 23 year old SUV and we've never had the A/C serviced. After reading prior reviews we became suspicious and decided to take it to our usual guy and told Milstead to stop, not to fix anything and we'd be picking it up shortly. We took it to our usual guy. After inspecting it he stated the rotors were fine, and the brake pads had 40% on the front and 60% on the back and the front end was fine. The only thing he found was a hose on the A/C unit that had a slight leak and needed replacing as well as the recharge of the system that we requested. After reading the other reviews, we are extremely happy that we stopped Milstead from performing any work on our vehicle as it looks like they would've charged a fortune to do work that wasn't needed ! read more

Charged the initial fee of $159 just to look at the car, then charged an additional 2 hours to diagnose that a magnetic ring that was visible on the ABS was missing. If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE/RV HERE! Dropped my 2020 Coleman Lantern 17b off for minimal body repair end of May. A van backed into me at a gas station. Went to pick it up and not all the body repair was done. Matt is the service writer I had been dealing with. He assured me he'd get it fixed at no additional cost since it should have been taken care of the first time. We go to pick it up end of June and we immediately see the bumper was bent. Someone hit the spare tire so hard it bent the bumper in and damaged the back panel and broke the mounting brackets. Went back inside and Matt said he'd see what he could do. He said he'd need to look at video surveillance and asked for picture evidence it wasn't like that when it was dropped off. I emailed a picture from May 1, 2022 of it straight. We looked around the trailer before leaving to look for other damage. The outside storage wasn't locked and they left garbage inside (used cleaning rag (they didn't clean the inside of my trailer), loose change, febreeze bottles, an electrical adapter, garbage) I took it back inside and gave it back. A few days later Matt says it's fixed. I asked how because they mounts were broken. He said he'd look into it and call me back. Four days later we stopped by to see if it had been fixed and it hadn't. But now the weight distribution mount on the passenger side was moved about 2 inches! There is dirt all on the bottom so it looks like it was drug. Now it's not even towable. Matt came out and said "they are supposed to move" and when he tried moving it with his hands, it didn't move! They aren't meant to move. He felt where the bumper mount was torn and first said "there's nothing there" then when he found it he said "oh". He accused us of lying that it was that way when we brought it in. I asked what the video surveillance showed and he said it didn't show anything, then he said the trailer was dropped off too far away, then when we reminded him it was in front of the bay doors he said well I tried to get it fixed and I was told no. Terrible customer service! Terrible mechanics to cause more damage than when it was dropped off! Terrible of the owner to only respond to my emails saying "it's ready to be picked up" but ignores my request for it to be fixed. Good thing Texas has a "Deceptive Trade Law" to protect consumers like myself for situations like this. read more

Took my Class C Sprinter in for winterization. Was told it had a bad water leak. I authorized them to look into it. About $600 into this I was told that it was probably the hot water heater. Was going to cost me about $1500. I put that on hold. In the spring I went to de-winterize and found that there is no leak. Everything including the hot water heater was fine. It was likely the tech hooked up to the wrong water inlet and failed to pull a valve. So I paid to winterize which they ended up saying they couldn't because of a leak, paid to analyze what ends up to be their issue and fortunately avoided their incorrect analysis by buying a new hot water heater. When management was confronted with these issues, they were totally uncooperative and in essence accused me of lying about no leaks. Please... for A $600 tab. What bad judgement! Lack of communication along the way and when I arrived to pay they would not take a check and charged 3% to use a credit card. The worst service experience we have ever encountered. The salesmen upfront over-promise and under-deliver. The owner/manager sits on his ass in behind the computer in his office all day, and is more worried about refilling the break room water bottles and snacks then he is his customer's service turnaround. We dropped off an RV three months ago and essentially got the batteries replaced and an axle fluid leak fixed for a very high labor cost. After finding a laundry list of issues and promised repairs and fixes were being handled, we found out essentially a one-half days' worth of service work had been done after three months of sitting on the lot at the back of the line. DO NOT send your RV down to this place to get serviced unless wanting it to collect dust and sun-fade damage from sitting on the lot. Guys didn't even replace the windshield wipers after we provided them. What a joke of a 50yr business... don't waste your time+money! read more

They swiftly contacted me to work toward finding resolve, and creating a mutual understanding of the services they offer. My initial complaint was about being overpriced, but when Ben explained to me in more detail the level of service they were attempting to offer, it made more sense to me. This is a review of Milsteads Tow Service. My tow was a planned event. I had two identical 2005 Honda Accords in a body shop in Houston. The objective was to tow repaired Honda to the Milstead Conroe Shop and dropping the donor Honda off at my property ( 1 mile from the interstate I-45) on the way to Conroe. When the driver showed up at the body shop he had a huge, shiney new flatbed truck that could have towed Howard Hughes flying fortress the " Spruce Goose" across country. I wondered why they sent such a big rig for such a small tandem tow. The driver was a big guy who seemed Lilliputian in size when he maneuvered his way down from the seat of the truck. He seemed irritated about some thing and was in a hurry to get me hooked up. I suggested that he put the donor Hona, which was totaled from a rear end collision, on the flatbed and tandem tow the repaired vehicle. He said he had a problem with that, without explanation. I headed to the first drop locations met him there. The donor Honda had a white powder across the damaged rear end. The spare donut wheel was shredded and was nearly falling off. He explained that the spare had caught fire during the tow and he was alerted by some truckers to this near disaster. He put the fire out with an extinguisher and continued on the doughnut. The fire had damaged some of the components I was planning on salvaging, and he was unapologetic. He delivered the repaied Honda to Milsteads shop with no mention of the incident. I called the service rep and the repair bill was $200 for a freon charge and a general check for any other problems. I then got the bill for the tow service. It came to a whopping $850! It cost me $150 to get the Two Hondas to the body shop with only 10 miles difference in the length of tow. A big lesson learned here: look for the small independent shops and tow operators that own their own trucks. Their equipment is the key to their livelihood and they are less likely to take risks and gouge you for the use of their equipment. read more

$895 camper wheel bearing pack PRICE GOUGING on a $299 Wheel Bearing Pack job (I have the Holiday World written quote FOR $299, same exact job & materials). These folks charge $165 an hour and justify it by comparing themselves to DeMontrond. Yikes! Why would you compare yourselves to one of the most shady companies out there? Wow! Just sad. I was told by the service writer, Thurman, I would be quoted all prices before work began and would receive text status updates as well. Neither happened. After 6 hours, I went back to the facility as I couldn't get anyone on the phone. Thurman said they were working on it and it should be done soon. What about the quote? When I asked the price, he said you'll be getting text updates. I don't have the ticket yet. What?! Where is my quote! Good thing they didn't bother to remove the cover on the squealing a/c that I asked them to check! They would have discovered bad motor bearings and a fan making contact with its shroud. I ordered a new motor and capacitor online for $109 and completed the work myself. Amazing! Now, I did have to remove the cover.... you know, to actually get to the problem! Sadly, I did send video of the squealing a/c the same night their $165 technician couldn't find a problem by just listening to the a/c, not even removing the cover, and checking nothing. So weird! The owner had the manager, Ben, call me. Ben made several promises, kept none of them and is just a part of the scam. Shame! I have multiple videos of squealing a/c but this platform only accepts photos. read more

Third time they made an appointment for the following afternoon then showed same day. Was not able to do anything and was advised that he would discuss with the service manager. I had to call again. Had it with this bs. Talked to service manager to have tech come out the next morning. He tried to move it up to earlier in the day. Decided with this so called kind of help I decided to go back to my home state for repairs. Now icing to this experience with this company, I got soaked for two service calls total of $550.00 just to jack in my slide with my assistance. I was told bad things about Milstead but I thought I would give them a try. Took my car in to be inspected, which would cost $40. They tell me that several of my lights are out and it's gonna cost $200 to fix them... first thing in my mind is "WTF are you talking about?" Had a terrible issue with the shop, about 3/14/2016 I brought my truck to Milstead 3 days later truck was reported to be ready and $5500.00 dollars worth of repairs completed. I was then told they put the wrong transmission in it and had to take it back out. They did not have a replacement transmission and had to wait 4 more days. The reason I took it to them was, a transmission was unable to be located in the Houston, Conroe area, by a Chevrolet dealership. Milstead said they can find one. A transmission was finally located and installed. The shop promised completion date as not made and I lost a customer, which caused me a loss of about $30,000.00 annual income. I had to take my truck to another shop, because the exhaust connections where not put back together correctly. Milstead wanted to replace my exhaust system with a new one, at a elevated cost to me. It was apparent, they broke the bolts off and wanted to charge me for the repair. The second shop videoed the evidence before they started repair. The owner of Milstead asked if I would like a refund on the labor done by the other shop. he asked if I wanted a check or a In-House Credit. I said I was unhappy with the whole situation felt like I was taken advantage of, as well as given false information during the whole experience. I told him I would give the shop another opportunity and would take the In-House credit and give the shop one more chance some time in the future. I did not return to the shop for 2 years. My motor, on same vehicle gave out 6-18-18. I called Milstead and was told they could check the truck out. My wife was very unhappy about the Milstead shop looking at my vehicle, ( again ), and was sure I was going to get screwed if I took my vehicle to Milstead, but i said, "I'll give them another chance." I hate to say this, but my wife was right. I had it towed to Milstead on 6-19-18 for a diagnostic and repair estimate 2 days later I went to check on the truck. It was still not looked at, and the mechanic assigned to it was not available, out to lunch. I asked for an estimate on a engine replacement, Re-manufactured motor. Was told $9,000.00 +. I had a wrecker take my truck to another shop, because the normal rate for that, was $5,000.00 and Chevy dealership quoted $6,000.00. Well the In-House credit was not found and so Milstead charged me $244.66. to release my vehicle to the wrecker. They say the In-House Credit was not in the system. I mentioned the owner advised I had a In-House credit, but the service manager said sorry, can't find it. I paid the $244.66 immediately without further comments. I expected I was going to get screwed again, because I was moving my truck to another shop. The receipt says they completed a Diagnose Engine Concern. No report or diagnose was completed or noted of receipt. That was their last chance with me. I would say if you don't mind getting taken advantage, I still would not take my vehicles to Milstead. read more

had a used engine put in with roughly 80k miles , for a grand total of 5.5k , after i was robbed blind as a kid who knew nothing about pricing ect , my car was still over heating and rack and pinion was freshly cracked , got me for another 1600 saying the rack was cracked before they put the engine in , saying they didnt see a crack when they were putting the new engine in , after a grand total of 8100 , my car still over heats and ben does not return phone calls , so if you want to be utterly screwed in your time of need i suggest milstead ! seriously considering a lawsuit :) read more

My F250 was over heating took it in to get fixed. They told me it was the oil cooler and would be 6000 to replace it. Than came back telling me it needs a new engine for 30,000 because they could not flush the engine. That is complete BS so I had it towed to my house and I'm doing it myself. They also did more than the scope of work by removing the bumper, grill, headlights, and ac condenser. All in all for the work they took my truck apart did not fix it and charged me over 1000 dollars in the end. They wanted more to put it back together so I would know everything was there and now I did not get all the bolts to my truck. I would never send anyone to them to get anything done. I'm not impressed with this place. I chose this shop because it looks good from the road. It looks clean, successful and well organized. There aren't tons of broken cars sitting out in the yard in various stages of disrepair. It looks like they have their stuff together. Well as the old saying goes "don't judge a book by it's cover". I should've taken the time to read Yelp and Google reviews first, then I'd likely have made a different decision about where to take my car. First issue I encountered is that the clerk who waited on me when I showed up for my appointment had the personality of a wet blanket. Apparently its normal practice here that whichever clerk initially answered the phone when you first called is the one that helps you when you show up. That person was busy on the phone again and above said wet-blanket dude acted like he either shouldn't or didn't want to help me even though he ultimately did. I took time off of work and showed up on time for my morning appointment, yet my car didn't move from where I'd parked it until almost an hour later. I get it that things can get backed up and schedules can change, but it was only a couple of hours into the morning, quite early still. My time is valuable to me too. I wished they'd just told me to come in at the time when they could actually start working. Another man waiting for his car at the same time said the same thing. I explained that my car had both a power steering leak and a coolant leak and I knew where the coolant was leaking from as I'd spent a lot of time looking at it. Wet-blanket dude treated me like my knowledge was unimportant and they'd figure out themselves where the leak was. Ultimately the mechanic did NOT find the leaky part I'd tried to tell them about and I had to go into the garage and show it to them myself. After sitting around in their waiting room about 5 hours, I was offered a loaner car as I was told the mechanic had to work on other cars. I was told that he should be able to get mine done late in the day and that they would call me when it was done. The rest of the day came and went with no call. It would've been nice to know it wouldn't be done so that I wasn't expecting to have to go back into town again. I had planned my whole day around this trip to get my car fixed in one day as I was told. The 2nd day came and went with again no call. Halfway through the 3rd day I got curious and drove by the shop myself. Lo and behold there was my car sitting out of the way like it had been done for some time. When I went in to pay and get my car back, once again the initial clerk who helped me on the phone was busy and wet-blanket dude was not busy at all, yet told me I had to wait for the first clerk. After giving him annoyed looks for a minute or two, he changed his mind and decided to help me. The actual cost was $1300, nearly $300 more than the estimate I was given. At this point I just wanted to get my car and get the hell out of there. Then I was informed they do not accept checks, due to issues in the past. I explained I no longer use credit cards for large purchases due to having my identity stolen numerous times. Hence I had to drive to the bank and get cash to pay them. When I finally got my car back, out of curiosity I drove right down the street to HEB and turned off my car right away so I could look under the hood before the motor warmed up. All parts I had agreed upon had been replaced. Yet both the coolant and the power steering fluid were filled to the wrong level. Of course on the bill it had listed that both fluid levels were "refilled to proper level." The power steering pump was overly full and the coolant was very low in the reservoir. At this point I was so irritated I couldn't help but wonder if this was done on purpose or if it was just sloppy work. Too much power steering fluid can blow your pump, and too little coolant can blow your engine, especially in this ridiculously hot south Texas summer heat. Fortunately for me, "my mama didn't raise a fool" and I fixed these issues myself. Overall, Ive been left with a similar feeling as one would expect after visiting a casino: my wallet was lighter and I was disappointed with the results. Yet their flashy business continues to lure in unsuspecting customers who are overpaying to help them pay for their fancy expensive building. I'm giving 2 stars because a minimum of one is required and they did give me a loaner car, which was very helpful as my schedule and living situation doesn't allow for someone to give me a ride to town. Ultimately they did fix the leaks I came in for. However I felt like I WAY overpaid for these repairs which should've been done in one day. Its annoying that they never bothered to call to tell me it was done. This place wasn't horrible but it wasn't spectacular either. For the price I paid, I should've gotten spectacular. In the future I will take my business elsewhere, and I wont be recommending Milstead to others. read more

Outstanding and Unparalleled Quality Workmanship, Expertise & Service This will be the very best review I've ever written and for good reason. I was traveling cross country from California to Florida with my 5th Wheel RV. While driving on I-10 my entire wheel flew off the axel. Awful situation. Long story short, a mobile service came out and did a terrible patch up job that would get me to the nearest city. Ended up taking it to Milstead Service Center because they had the best reviews and were near a big city. 5 People that deserve major kudos: Amber Titus/Service Rep=This gal is first because she made me feel like part of the team/family. I've owned a few business's in the past and have had many employees. This gal would be on my management team in a skinny minute if it were up to me. She was incredibly detail oriented. Super professional. Courteous with the very best manors even in some stressful situations when manufactures didn't send part's out on time or whatever came up. She handled anything and everything with such grace. As soon as a part landed, she emailed or called me. And I too was in touch with the manufacturer all along so she always did the very best possible for me. I was stuck there for more than a month so I developed a kinship with everyone. Amber worked with me to the highest level I've ever had from a service point of view. She made my RV and it's issues her personal business. Honestly she deserves a big thank you from her boss. Cares about his customers and runs a tight, squeaky clean, professional operation. Ben Miles/Manager=Keeping all things on the up and up and handling situations with complete professionalism. Always willing to work with me. Great manager and great guy Anthony Frisenda/Technician=Honest, Excellent Workmanship, Detail Oriented and totally aims to please. He care about the quality of his work. He did not cut corners ever. I will always remember Conroe Tx because of Amber and all the wonderful staff at Milstead. And when I say wonderful staff, I mean it. The entire staff have a lot of fun together. They work from the highest level of integrity. My RV looks better then before I had my accident. They repaired a water tank, wood step cover, replaced an axel and wheel, repaired the entire side of the RV that ripped off when the wheel flew off. Killer work...Can't say enough!! Took my living quarter horse trailer to them for brakes, bearings, pricing on a new canopy and generator repair. $2,800 later the generator still will not run. Was told after they rebuilt the carburetor that it will not need a new one and would call us with pricing. Never received a call back for the carburetor or canopy. Now I will have to take it somewhere else for repairs costing me more money. I will not return or recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Scheduled a oil change for 8:30am. I dropped my RV off at 8ish. Was told it would be a couple hours so I left and returned 2hrs 45 mins later. Guess what, had not even started. Why schedule a appointment if you cannot stay close to it? While I am waiting let me say the people where friendly. Place was clean. Ok we are now 4 hrs into this, just a oil change. Still waiting. 12:15. Finally done. Cost was as promised. If you can't be closer then this to an appointment time you probably shouldn't require an appointment. read more

If I have to give 1 star just to get this information out I will. Stay away if you want honest work, they were supposed to put a refurbished transmission. No they didn't, it was just a used old transmission from some other truck. Charged 5000.00 for it to last 2 .5 years. They said warranty 3 years nope. Read fine print, better off don't use this shop. read more

Robbery in disguise - charged me $400 for oil change of my motorhome - then came to find out they messed with the brake lights when doing inspection - so brake lights don't come on. read more

Took my vehicle there for a front end alignment and some other work. They claimed I needed some 3rd party after-market parts to do the front end alignment. After agreeing to over $1,000 to get the alignment done (not including the other work) and after 2 1/2 weeks, I picked it back up and discovered it was now worse than when I brought it in. Returned to have it done again and the next day they told me they could not do it any better. The vehicle drifts to the right and the steering wheel is crooked to the left. I drove with the service manager and showed him these symptoms. He asserted that it was the way I was driving that was causing the vehicle to not track straight and stated they could not do any better with it. Completely unacceptable and I am totally dissatisfied with this work. What's worse is that they screwed me around on a prior repair about 18 months ago as well. I tried to give them another chance, but it proved futile. I wouldn't trust these incompetents to put air in a tire. read more
