Millies cookies are expensive if you buy one or two, there's no getting away from that - but there are so many upsides.
For a start, every cookie tastes devine. Genuinely. No cookie beats them.
The more you buy, the cheaper they each become (which, for kids parties where they want a sugar fix and you hate home baking, can help). It also helps if you are out with a group of you're friends and you all want to try Millie's for the first time; the group rate makes it a low cost risk and boy does it pay off.
There are so many options for what you can have. This isn't a three-flavour cookie bar; there are normally 12 or more flavours on at a time in regular sized cookies. You can have a box of 12 and select one from every flavour, knowing the cost in advance.
There are good promotions on offer, such as the wee card you get if you spend £2.99 or more - every time you do, you get a stamp, and you get £2.99 worth of cookies free when it gets full.
There are different takes on the traditional cookie too - cookie pops combine the idea of cookies and lollies, which are smaller than a full sized cookie and ideal if you want to give your kid a treat but not overdo the sugar.
The cookie cupcakes are gorgeous, and a brilliant gift idea as a box of 4 costs £4.49 and comes in a special Millies box.
The alternative to the cookie pop is the mini cookies, which arre bitesize and adorable, and PERFECT when you aren't hungry enough for a large one. If you miss the taste, but don't want to ruin your appetite for the dinner you're heading around the corner for - doesn't matter! Mini cookies!
You can also buy the giant cookie, either single or doubled, iced in whatever colour you like and with any message. Fantastic alternative to a birthday cake if the intended recipient doesn't like sponge!
There are, of course, lots of extras, like hot drinks, muffins (the banoffee muffin is what made me return to the counter after my first time! Delish), ice cream, and you can buy the gift bear, mug or cookie tin to give with the cookies as a gift.
The prices are clearly signposted so you can pick either the amount of cookies to suit your price range, or decide to get more for the better value. There are pictures of some of the gifts on the upper boards, and there is usually a readymade giant cookie to let you see the size and thickness and style of icing. Each tray of cookies has the flavour on a wee sign, so again, you don't have to guess what's available.
Although Millie's is too expensive for going to for a single cookie in general, they are brilliant for alterative birthday celebrations, party bag fillers, snacks for the cinema, or to take to work the next day for your teabreak.
If you don't want to be out cash to test them out, ask if they have any tasters. There is usually a small basket on the counter with any of the broken cookies from the fresh batch, and that could help you decide. read more
