Second trip in today, looking for something just right for a date. The store owner has been SUPER helpful both times I was in. The first time I was looking for a graduation dress for an extremely picky goth kid who was acting pretty moody. The owner took it all in stride, brought dresses and kept things light and fun. I don't know how she handles so much inventory in such an organized and manageable way, all while keeping a friendly and helpful demeanor, but she does it. Today I found a great pair of Rag & Bone boots, a beautiful purse and a peasant top. I will definitely shop here again - buying second hand clothes is good for the planet and good for my wallet. I stopped by to check this place out. It was okay. The owner just looked down on me for some reason. Very snobbish and rude. There is a better place on primrose. I have accomplished a fair amount of success in this game called life. I don't need a retail clerk or owner being unfriendly when I'm looking to blow some cash on a pair of jeans with my mom. This is a very cool consignment store. A bit pricey, but you just need to be smart about your purchases and know the designer prices and decide if it's a good deal. I scored an awesome camo jacket for $20 and a pair of Sigersen Morrison buttery-soft leather booties for $98 (they were barely worn and smelled like fresh leather!). The owner was friendly, but I prefer to be left alone so I can browse in peace - personal preference I guess. I will stop by again in a month to see the new goods... read more

The store seems to have a good selection, although a bit overpriced. But they really need to take a look into the nasty sales people. Everything was is fine until I came to pick up my stuff and I found out that my brand new shoes were without the box which I include with the shoes. I asked Lori where is the box and she sad that they do not keep the boxes. I was really surprised that nobody and nowhere did it say anything about this policy. Lori's attitude was snobby about my complaining about the box. Maybe it is my mistake and I should have kept the box but I think that if you buy a pair of new shoes they should include the box. read more

I am one of those people that make a beeline for the sales rack at the back of the store, as I get the most pleasure from finding amazing deals and discounts. I have always been a huge fan of consignment stores because they sell used clothes that you may not see anywhere else and at the end of the day, you have no idea how many times a particular item at a department has been tried on, nor do you always know if it's been returned, so, theoretically, it could be used too. I am always on the hunt for not just any old consignment store, but a high end one that has top name designers that I love, but most importantly, an actual discount on clothes. Millie Mango has a nice layout, with high end designers throughout; they even had a sales rack! I will say that I wish they had the sizes labeled on the racks so that it would make it easier and faster to browse. I thought some of the prices could be a little more discounted, but at least every item I came across was in great condition. The owner was very nice to me and based off of some selections that I had made, she pulled similar items to see if I would like them as well. I was totally dressed down and I had wondered if I would be ignored or treated differently, but I was not and will definitely come back when I am back in San Fran. read more

I was not shocked to see so many bad review about the owner. After a brief interaction with the owner (late 40's tall brown hair), where she displayed the most foul and subhuman behaviors I have ever witnessed in person, I attempted to convey how repulsive her behavior was, while maintaining my dignity and not stooping to her level by wishing her a "Happy Holidays." To which she replied, "You don't have to be a bitch about it." It is embarrassing to be considered of the same species as her. I hope that she is able to receive the help that she needs and that whatever has made her behave so cruelly, turns around. What an awful way to live! Please get help (owner that was so ashamed of her behavior that she would not even tell me her name). read more

I was so excited to find this place. I love clothing. Especially the possibilities that can be found in consignment shops. I like the way the shop is laid out. There is a lot of choice. The prices are a little high compared to other shops that are similar, but it is Burlingame so I guess that can be expected. The woman behind the counter was incredibly rude and condescending. When I asked her some basic questions related to consigning in her store she acted like my clothes would not be good enough. It actually seemed like she was trying to discourage me from consigning with her. I thought it was an odd attitude. A little put off, but still curious, I decided to look around, despite having been treated like a sub-customer. I found a few items on and wanted to try them on. I asked if it was okay to use the dressing room. She didn't even look at me, she just pointed in the direction of the dressing room. I tried my items on and took two articles of clothing to the register where I was rung up. I tried asking her how her day was, she literally ignored my question. She seemed put off that she had to stop what she was doing in order to complete the sale. Once the transaction was complete she then informed me in a clipped tone that there were no returns and all sales were final because "this is a consignment shop". She brought a small paper sign up from under the counter and shoved it toward my face as proof of the policy. She then told me she had no bags and actually turned her back on me to look at something behind her while I was left to pick my items up off the counter and leave the store. Maybe she is jaded with the used clothing business or was having a bad day or perhaps doesn't recognize the importance of good customer relations. In any event, she lost an opportunity to gain a new customer. I won't be returning. read more

Oh my goodness, thought it was just me who was treated like a sub-human here... yeah, don't visit this place unless you liked being looked down on and generally not made to feel welcome. I was in her store yesterday and purchased a Milly top and regret that I made the purchase based only on my experience with the owner. I was actually COMPLIMENTING her on her store when she rudely cut me off to reprimand her employee because the bottle of wine she had purchased wasn't cold. First of all, who does that in front of a customer, especially about something so trivial and secondly, what kind of owner interrupts her customer when he/she is speaking?! At that point I should have put back the top and walked out, so shame on me for giving her the business. As I was talking to her during my purchase she informed me that she used to be the owner of the pet store on Burlingame Ave. I remember now having a horrible experience with her there too, and actually gave her a negative yelp review then as well. Obviously the customer service business is not for her and much better suited for someone who values their customers and isn't rude. Regret giving her my business and won't be back. read more

I have been a consignment shopper (and consignor) for 20+ years throughout the Peninsula and SF, and think this shop is one of the best ever! I have had a good experience shopping at Millie. They have the best quality used clothing I have seen. The owner has always been very friendly to me and me to her. I did bring my little dog with me once but had him in his carrier the whole time so I did not have any drama like some of the reviews have mentioned. Every time I have shopped here I have had a very relaxing and unexpected experience. I never know what I am going to walk out with. I do not shop to be waited on I do my own thing. I'm really surprised reading the bad reviews here. I've been coming here pretty consistently for the past couple of years and have always been treated superbly by the owner and her various employees. Maybe I've just been lucky to catch them on a good day? Every time I come here I've been able to find really great pieces for extremely fair prices. The clothes are always in great condition. And I should also mention I look very young for my age and barely ever dress up to go shopping. I've never been treated badly here. Keep in mind though that sometimes they open later than their posted opening time and sometimes they'll give you a bag and sometimes they won't. But overall, I always enjoy my shopping experiences here and can't wait to go back. read more

I have no idea why the bad reviews. The owner of this establishment and her dog are very friendly. I shop everywhere and I have found that the prices are reasonable for the merchandise (very good condition, designer, etc.) Truly, this is one of my favorite places to shop. I hope it will be one of your favorite places too! P.S. I tried something on, and it just did not look right, but I loved the pattern and the color. The owner kindly told me it didn't look right and I appreciated that because she was honest. Please be aware, she does not accept American Express; I believe cash, Visa & MasterCard are acceptable forms of payment. i don't often write bad reviews, but this salesperson/owner really deserves it. the sales person working (maybe the owner) at this place needs public relations/human behavior class 101 badly. she lacks the professionalism, tact, and courtesy to the people who goes in the store--the customers (aka potential buyers). she is beyond rude. if there's an item she does not want the customers to see or ask about she should display it anywhere on the counter. she had the audacity to insult me by saying that "she would only show it to me if i am interested in buying because it's a hermes handbag and it costs blah, blah and she does not want it handled by anyone." well, unhappy lady do not put it on top of your counter where customers would see it. suggestion: perhaps have a glove ready so you can ask the customer to wear gloves... for crying out loud! she should not be working in the store whether or not she owns it. hire someone maybe you'll have better turn on profits. i will never, never go in this store again. read more

What a disappointment, a really pathetic excuse for a consignment shop. The owner, Lori, does not seem to have any experience in the consignment/fashion world, and really does not know how to treat customers. Shame on her. It is clear she has never traveled to Paris, Milan, or London for any of the major shows. She cannot tell a fake Chanel from a Birkin Bag. What a shame, because she has some prime real estate in the township of San Mateo, but it is going to waste. This store will never be more than a "sell me a Gap t-shirt, and I will buy a Banana Republic button-down from you." Millie Mango could be great, but because of the owner and her small-minded ways, the major brands will never be a part of this particular consignment store. There must be others in the area, so I would check them out first before I head to MM. The shoes are beaten up, the hangers are a disgrace, and the clothes are not styled nor are they merchandised in any sensible way. Steer clear, and consider taking your lovely high-end items elsewhere should you need to consign them. read more
